The boost doesn't last long, but there are a few strong Winged Beasts to use with it. Pretty specific materials though.

Hardened Armed Dragon can make this guy even less vulnerable, but it still can't be Special Summoned.

I'm not really getting the point of equipping monsters when they don't do much of anything afterwards.

Catastor doesn't have to worry about this and has pre-determined stats, which I think makes it the better monster.
