Yu-Gi-Oh Anime Cards (Page 80)
*Card effects below are as accurate as possible.
Episode 113: Memory Thief (2)
Overlay Stopper Anime Normal Trap Activate only when an Xyz Monster declares an attack. Negate the attack, then attach this card to that monster as an Xyz Material. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 1 |
Comments: | Whether to stop your own Xyz Monster's attack or your opponent's you're not doing yourself much of a favor. |
Orichalcum Mirage Anime Normal Trap Activate only when an opponent's monster declares an attack. Change the attack target to another "Chronomaly" monster you control. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | We already have cards that redirect attacks to unspecified monsters but since there is a limit to how many copies can be in your Deck, this may help with Chronomaly Decks. |
Cicada Illusion Anime Continuous Trap Activate only by selecting 1 face-up Insect-Type monster you control in Defense Position. It cannot be destroyed by battle. When its battle position is changed, the equipped monster gains ATK equal to its DEF. When that monster is removed from the field, destroy this card. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | It only really works on monsters with higher DEF than ATK like Cicada King but since most of our monsters don't have that criteria and don't have battle protection, this is really their only hope of survival. |
Reservation Reward Anime Continuous Spell If a monster you control that has been targeted by a Quick-Play Spell Card attacks a Defense Position monster whose DEF is less than that targeted monster's ATK, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent. Once per turn, you can reveal 1 Quick-Play Spell Card in your hand, then Set it. That card can be activated during the turn it was Set, then the ATK of a monster targeted by that card is doubled during the Battle Phase only. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | It's rather risky, even if your Set Quick-Play Spell is powerful because your opponennt will be aware of it (as you'll have to verify that your Set card isn't some random card) but if it works, it's not too bad and this does deal piercing battle damage too. |
Number 3: Cicada King WIND / Insect-Type Xyz / Rank 3 / ATK 1200 / DEF 2500 3 Level 3 monsters This card cannot be destroyed by battle except with "Number" monsters. When a monster effect is activated on your opponent's side of the field, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to negate that monster's effects, then this card gains 500 DEF. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | It gets higher DEF with each monster it effect negates but really doesn't offer a whole lot for the 3 Xyz Materials it requires. |
Dream Cicada WIND / Insect / Level 3 / ATK 300 / DEF 1300 If you control a face-up Attack Position Insect-Type monster, you can Special Summon this card from your hand, then change 1 face-up Attack Position Insect-Type monster you control to face-up Defense Position. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 1 |
Comments: | Its stats and effect are just as poor as Oily Cicada's so you're better off not using this one either. |
Oily Cicada WIND / Insect / Level 3 / ATK 1000 / DEF 1000 During the turn this card's battle position is changed, if this card is used as an Xyz Material, you can treat it as 2 monsters for the Xyz Summon. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 1 |
Comments: | The effect is poor, which means its 1000 ATK and DEF won't be helping you either. |
Episode 111: A World of Chaos (2)
Chaos Alliance Anime Normal Trap Select 1 "C" monster you control. Its ATK becomes the same as the monster you control with the highest ATK. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | This can help boost the ATK of your Number C monster (as that's what we'd most likely be using here) but it doesn't do anything else and may not be enough if your strongest monster is still weaker than your opponent's monster. |
Overtake Summon Anime Quick-Play Spell Detach 1 Xyz Material from a monster your opponent controls. Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower monster from your hand. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 3 |
Comments: | This works quite well to your advantage, especially if the Xyz Monster your opponent controls is entirely relient on those materials to use its effect. |
Utopian Hope Anime Normal Spell This turn, "Utopic" monsters on the field cannot be targeted by your opponent's Spell, Trap, or monster effects. If a "Utopic" monster on the field is currently targeted by an opponent's card effect(s), negate those effects and destroy those cards. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | Utopia monsters have proven to be underwhelming compared to the anime (as most cards often are upon release) but they still aren't entirely useless. However, this card's effects only protect it for one turn. |
Number Lockdown Anime Continuous Trap Select 1 "Number" monster on the field. That monster's effects are negated and it cannot declare an attack. During the End Phase, destroy that monster, and inflict damage to your opponent equal to its ATK. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | Number monsters make up a very small percentage of monsters in our world, with only about 1/4 of those being playable. If you do manage to see one when you have this out, you'll deal some big damage but even Ring of Destruction is less restrained, even after its erratum. |
Number Return Anime Normal Trap Activate only during your Main Phase. Special Summon 1 "Number" Xyz Monster from your Graveyard, then attach "Number" monsters from your Graveyard to it as Xyz Materials, equal to the number of Xyz Materials required to Xyz Summon the Special Summoned monster. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | It's more restrictive than Xyz Reborn but also will likely add more Xyz Materials than that card anyway. |
Number Karma Anime Continuous Spell During each End Phase, if the player does not control a "Number" monster, both players take 500 damage. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 1 |
Comments: | Even with the anime having half the starting LP we have, it'd take a while to actually bring your opponent down to 0 and it applies to you too. Plus the downside can only be avoided by controlling a Number monster, which in most cases are Xyz Monsters. |
Episode 110: A World of Chaos (1)
Number Spell Caster Anime Normal Trap Tribute 1 "Number" monster. Activate 1 Continuous Spell Card directly from your Deck. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 1 |
Comments: | This card's trade-off is quite poor since you're Tributing an Xyz Monster in most cases just to play a Continuous Spell from your Deck. Even if you managed to Tribute a non-Xyz Monster with this, it's still bad. |
Chaos Field Anime Field Spell Once per turn, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from a "Number C" monster you control to Special Summon 1 random "Number" monster from your opponent's Extra Deck. It cannot attack, also its effects are negated. During the End Phase, if you did not activate the following effect this turn, destroy that monster. ● You can select 1 Xyz Monster Special Summoned from your opponent's Extra Deck by this card's effect you control. Xyz Summon from your Extra Deck, 1 "C" Xyz Monster that is 1 Rank higher than that monster you control, by using it as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that target also become Xyz Materials on the Summoned monster.) COMMON |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | We don't see that many Number Xyz Monsters in today's metagame so this is another card that won't be played much, if at all unless improvements are made. |
Chaos Bringer Anime Normal Trap Activate only when your opponent Special Summons a "C" Xyz Monster. Send all Xyz Materials from that monster to the Graveyard, then add 1 "Chaos Field" from your Deck to your hand. This turn, "C" monsters cannot declare an attack. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | I don't think anyone really uses Number C monsters so this probably wouldn't see much play without a buff. |
Episode 109: A Sea of Troubles (2)
Aqua Mirage Anime Equip Spell Equip only to a WATER monster. If the equipped monster is used as an Xyz Material for an Xyz Summon, you can treat this card as an Xyz Material for that Summon, with the same Level as the equipped monster. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 3 |
Comments: | While it only works with WATER monsters, it works with any WATER monster, making it very easy to Xyz Summon with it. |
Hide and Shark Anime Normal Trap Activate only when your opponent's monster declares an attack and you have 2000 or less Life Points. Pay half your Life Points, then end the Battle Phase by removing from play 1 "Shark" monster you control. Then, return the removed from play monster to your side of the field and it gains ATK equal to the amount of Life Points paid to activate this card. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 1 |
Comments: | I'd much rather end the Battle Phase with Negate Attack as I don't lose LP just to activate it and don't need specific monsters, or any monsters to use it. |
Gorgonic Pile Anime Normal Spell Select 1 Rock-Type monster you control; increase that monster's Level by the number of "Gorgonic" monsters you control, until the End Phase. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | Gorgonics never really took off to my knowledge, given that we had only a couple of cards to work with but there's always the possibility that they'll release more. |
Gorgonic Ritual Anime Normal Spell Remove from play 1 Rock-Type Xyz Monster from your Graveyard. Special Summon 2 Rock-Type monsters from your Graveyard in face-up Defense Position. COMMON |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | While it could possibly see play as a real card, the activation requirements are pretty strict as is. |
