Episode 109: A Sea of Troubles (2)
In the labyrinth, Dumon asks if Yuma is ready to duel but Yuma isn't so sure they're enemies, recalling the events of the past where Dumon's human self saved them. Dumon protests that anyone thinking they were human is mistaken but Yuma has figured it all out and asks if they even know why they're fighting in the first place. Dumon says what's important is his mission to destroy Astral World. Astral then reveals that he must destroy Barian World to Yuma. While Yuma lets that sink in, Shark is reeling from Rio/Abyss' last attack and is once again shown a vision of his past where he struggles to accept that he's a leader of their kingdom. It takes Abyss posing as Shark's reflection for Shark to at least not back down and agrees to fight. Back in reality, Shark remembers the situation he's in and must draw the card he found on the floor in the labyrinth. He draws and activates Freezing Point to make Gorgonic Guardian's ATK 0, and since GG's effect destroys all monsters with 0 ATK, it self-destructs.
At the same time, Past Shark gets his army to use their mirror shields and reflect the Gorgonic Guardians' attacks back on them, taking them out too. Present Shark plays Depth Shark (1400) in Attack Mode (without Tribute since he controls no monsters but they don't tell you that) and attacks directly, leaving Rio/Abyss down to 2600 LPs. Finally, he sets 1 card to end his turn. Meanwhile, Astral is willing to duel if Dumon can reveal who the remaining Barians they haven't met and Dumon reveals them as Mirin and Nash but Yuma spots an unsual sight above. It's Shark's duel with Rio/Abyss so Dumon heads off to find out more, deciding to duel Yuma and Astral another time. Astral notes the water that is accumulating where they reside and realizes it must lead somewhere and asks Yuma for a monster that can paddle, considering it the perfect time for such a question.
Dumon arrives at the duel just as Rio/Abyss draws, whereby Shark notes of DS' other effect to double its ATK to 2800. While Yuma and Astral navigate the labyrinth with Stinging Swordsman, Rio/Abyss plays Gorgonic Ritual to remove from play her GG in her Graveyard and revive Gorgonic Golem (600) and Gorgonic Gargoyle (800) in Defense Mode. Then she uses Gorgonic Pile to raise her monsters' Levels by 1 for each Gorgonic monster she controls and with 2 out, her monsters gain 2 Levels each to Level 5. Shark knows what's coming next but is shown another vision of his past before Rio/Abyss  makes his fears realized by using her monsters as Xyz Material for Number 73: Abyss Splash (2400) in Attack Mode. It's the monster Shark has been looking for but Astral is drawn away from Yuma and brought to where the legend unfolded.
Dumon has also arrived and finds Shark with the Barian pendant around his neck. Abyss Splash attacks various areas of the kingdom before Rio decides to take action. As with the vision, Rio lifts into the air at the duel and Abyss himself takes over and uses Number 73's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself and double its ATK to 4800. His attack prompts Shark to activate Hide and Shark to pay half his LP and remove from play DS to end the Battle Phase, bringing him down to 100 LPs. Furthermore, HaS' other effect brings DS back to Shark's field with additional ATK equal to Shark's LP payment, raising its ATK to 1500. Just as in reality, Rio is held captive but it's Vector that has her in his past but Dumon comes to save Shark and Rio.
Vector leaves Shark with a difficult choice but Rio decides to choose for him and offers her soul to Abyss. Perhaps Shark and Rio are the last two Barians Nash and Mirin but Abyss is confident that Shark will lose Rio just as he did in the past. Yuma plays the part of the hero and saves Rio with only inches to spare before the edge of the cliff. Shark gets an extra card and knows what to do with it. Next he draws and equips Aqua Mirage to DS, making it count as 2 Xyz Materials for an Xyz Summon. Then he uses Monster Reborn to revive Black Ray Lancer (2100) in Attack Mode from his Graveyard. Furthermore he activates Full Armored Xyz to equip any new Xyz Monster he summons with Black Ray Lancer. With that done, he uses his DS and AM as Xyz Material for Number 94: Crystalzero (2200) in Attack Mode and it is attached with BRL, raising its ATK by 2100 to 4300.
In response, Abyss uses Number 73's effect again to double its ATK to 4800. Regardless, Shark uses Number 94's effect twice to detach 2 Xyz Materials and halve Number 73's ATK twice to 1200. (The real card can only use its effect once per turn during either player's turn.) His attack takes out Abyss Splash and defeats Abyss. Abyss was doing this as per Shark's orders but Shark protests he never made such orders and gets the Number 73 card anyway, not quite ready to believe it's his card now. Dumon departs before the group is returned to the ship. Only problem is Rio isn't back with them. Meanwhile, Vector is flying through when Don Thousand interrupts, assuring that they'll get the last two numbers Astral has acquired and sharing that Vector also used to be human. Vector must find Number 96 as Don Thousand has plans for him.
