Yu-Gi-Oh the Movie (4) | |
Sensing a weakness in the Pyramid of Light card, Atem activates
Double Spell to discard 1 card (Exchange) and
activate 1 Spell Card the opponent used and he chooses
Monster Reborn to revive Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon
(3000) in Attack Mode. Next he tributes BESD to successfully destroy the PoL and
in turn Sphinx Teleia and Andro Sphinx. As the Pyramid of Light around them
crumbles, the mummies and the glowing redness around the Millennium symbol
disappear. Atem couldn't destroy the PoL card all alone but didn't destroy the
pendant and Special Summons Theinen the Great Sphinx
by paying 1000 LPs (though not shown) (3500) in Attack Mode, brining his score
down to 1100. (The real card is Special Summoned by paying 500 LPs when Andro
Sphinx and Sphinx Teleia are destroyed together.) Next he uses his pendant's
magic (rather Theinen's effect as shown when it was Summoned) to raise its ATK
by the ATK of every monster in his Graveyard, making its ATK 35,000. (The real card gains 3000 ATK by paying 500 LPs and it only lasts until the end of the turn.) However, Atem activates Reverse of Reverse to activate Kaiba's face-down Return from the Different Dimension to Special Summon Slifer the Sky Dragon (X000), Obelisk the Tormentor (4000) and The Winged Dragon of Ra (????) in Attack Mode by paying half his LPs, bringing his score down to 50 (though not shown). He merges the God Cards and takes out Anubis' monster to win the duel. As a result, the PoL pendant is destroyed and Atem becomes Yugi while Kaiba eventually gets to his feet. However, Anubis isn't done yet and uses the remnants of the pendant to call forth a new monster (with the word "die" being included in the English dub I might add) that is not a hologram and smashes through a wall of the arena. Furthermore, Anubis activates Fallout to give his monster 4000 ATK by skipping his next 5 turns' Draw Phase, Standby Phase and Main Phase (though not explained) and Inferno Tempest to remove from play all monsters from their Deck and Graveyard since he took at least 4000 points of battle damage and neither player can use them during the duel. (The real card requires 3000 points of battle damage to be dealt to you but doesn't prevent you from using the removed from play monsters later.) Yugi is hit (and two copies of Ra fly out, which we know can't be true) so Joey stands up and plays Gilford the Lightning and Gearfried the Iron Knight to no avail. Anubis strikes back but Pegasus summons Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon and Toon Dark Magician Girl as a temporary shield to escape. They arrive in the elevator as both Toons disappear. They beat a real monster with a real monster and Yugi and Atem summon Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon once more. They uses BESD's effect to destroy Anubis' monster and the last of the PoL pendant is destroyed. Outside, Tea` wonders if Anubis is coming back and Solomon agrees to see what the prophecy holds for the future but Pegasus is confident that Anubis won't come back after such a high-end defeat. Kaiba has heard enough (and we get the closest use of a swear word as well), knowing that he'd have won had it not been for Anubis and suggests Atem enjoy his last days as champion. Solomon isn't so sure Kaiba can pay for all the damage but Yugi is confident Kaiba has enough but doesn't have friends unless he changes. |
