| Bonds Beyond Time (2) | |

Yusei has a little speech about what's at stake and the trio agree to put their
skills together for this duel despite that they've only barely met and know so
little about each others' way of dueling. Then he draws and plays
Reincarnation of Hope to discard 2 monsters (Junk
Synchron and Sonic Chick), then add a Monster from their Deck to their hand
(during their 2nd Standby Phase but they don't tell you that). Next he plays
Junk Synchron (1300) in Attack Mode and uses its
effect to revive Sonic Chick (300) in Defense
Mode. After that, he uses Quillbolt Hedgehog's
effect from the Graveyard to Special Summon itself (800) in Defense Mode. Now he
uses his monsters as Synchro Material for Junk Gardna
(2600) in Defense Mode, leaving Atem and Jaden confused but Jaden doesn't mind
and approves of Yusei's move. Lastly, Yusei sets 2 cards to end his turn so
Paradox draws and sends Rainbow Dragon to the Grave for
Malefic Rainbow Dragon (4000) in Attack Mode. (The real card is Summoned
by removing from play the Rainbow Dragon from your hand or Deck.) It's clear to Banner that this is why Paradox was stealing cards but Jaden doesn't approve of Paradox bringing Jesse's ace monster to do his bidding. Regardless, Paradox attacks but due to JG's effect, MRD goes to Defense Mode. Paradox's 2nd attack with MCED takes out JG to leave the trio down to 2600 LPs (since MCED inflicts piercing battle damage but they don't tell you that yet the real card doesn't have this effect and I'll also note that all Malefic monsters in the CG prevent the owner from attacking with other monsters, even other Malefic monsters). Due to JG's other effect, MCED goes to Defense Mode. Furthermore, Yusei activates Miracle's Wake to revive Junk Gardna in Defense Mode before Paradox sets 1 card to end his turn, unphased by Atem's pep talk. Jaden draws and is given the green light to use JG as Fusion Material with Neos for Elemental Hero Neos Knight (2500) in Attack Mode. Thanks to its first effect, EHNK gains half of JG's ATK, raising its ATK by 700 to 3200. He uses Neos Knight's other effect to let it attack twice and leave Paradox defenseless. Paradox uses Malefic Tune to draw twice since a Malefic monster on his field was destroyed. Jaden sets 4 cards and gets much commandment from Atem and explains that his dueling comes from Duel Academy in spite of constantly not paying attention in class. Paradox decides to skip his Draw Phase to use Malefic World's effect to add Malefic Stardust Dragon, which he summons (2500) in Attack Mode by sending Stardust Dragon to the Grave. (The real card removes from play the original from the Extra Deck.) To Yusei's surprise, Paradox summons Malefic Parallel Gear (0000) in Attack Mode and uses his monsters as Synchro Material for Malefic Paradox Dragon (4000) in Attack Mode. (The real MPG uses a Malefic monster in your hand as Synchro Material.) Since MPD was Synchro Summoned, Paradox uses its effect to Special Summon Stardust Dragon (2500) in Attack Mode. (This wouldn't be a legal move in the CG because SD wasn't Summoned properly befeorehand.) Now EHNK loses ATK equal to the revived SD's ATK, reducing its ATK to 700. (The real MPD doesn't have this effect.) His attack prompts Jaden to activate Hero Barrier to negate the attack since an Elemental HERO monster is on his field. However, Paradox responds with Malefic Claw Stream to destroy Neos Knight yet Jaden uses Elemental Mirage to revive Elemental Hero Neos Knight in Attack Mode but its ATK is reduced to 0 by MPD's effect. (The real Neos Knight cannot be Special Summoned outside a Fusion Summon.)Yusei goes on a bit of a guilt trip but Atem disagrees before Paradox sets 2 cards to end his turn. Atem draws, and uses RoH's effect to add Dark Magician to his hand. Next he uses Ancient Rules to Special Summon Dark Magician (2500) in Attack Mode. Since DM's ATK becomes 0 as well by MPHD's effect, Yusei agrees to let Stardust Dragon get destroyed to win. Atem then uses Bond Between Teacher and Student to Special Summon Dark Magician Girl (1700) in Defense Mode since Dark Magician is on his field. Then he uses Magic Gate of Miracles to put MPD in Defense Mode and gain control of it since he has two Spellcaster-Type monsters out but Paradox is ready with Malefic Force and equips it to MPD, making it unaffected by the opponent's Spell Cards. However, Atem didn't want MPD and takes Stardust Dragon, destroying the corrupted version and restoring Yusei's card. Since SD is no longer on Paradox's field, the ATK of each monster on the trio's field is restored. Next, Atem uses Dark Magic Twin Burst to give DM ATK equal to DMG, raising its ATK to 4500. His attack takes out MPD to leave Paradox down to 3500 LPs. However, Paradox thanks them for it as he can now play Malefic Paradigm Shift to pay half his LPs and summon Malefic Truth Dragon (5000) in Attack Mode since MPD was destroyed, brining his score down to 1750. (The real MTD is Summoned the same way but without the Trap Card.) All Atem can do is set 2 cards to end his turn and neither them nor Banner like the looks of things. Worse still, Pegasus will be there shortly. Paradox draws and activates Malefic Selector to remove from play MPG and MPD in his Graveyard to add 2 (Malefic) cards from his Deck to his hand. Now he sends Blue-Eyes White Dragon from his Deck to his Grave for Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon (3000) in Attack Mode, then Red-Eyes B. Dragon to the Grave for Malefic Red-Eyes Black Dragon (Malefic Red-Eyes B. Dragon in the CG) (2400) in Attack Mode. His attacks prompt Jaden to activate De-Fusion to trade Neos Knight for Junk Gardna and Elemental HERO Neos (2000) in Defense Mode. Yusei then uses JG's effect to put MREBD to Defense Mode. However, DM isn't so lucky and is taken out to leave the trio down to 2100 LPs. Since one of the trio's monsters was destroyed, MTD destroys all their other monsters but Yusei counters with Stardust Dragon's effect. Paradox is ready however and uses MTD's other effect to remove from play the MRD in his Graveyard to prevent its destruction. As a result, the trio lose their monsters and 800 LPs for each monster destroyed, bringing them down to 500 LPs. (The real card has neither this effect nor the previous monster destroying effect or the ability to prevent its destruction.) Paradox isn't done yet and activates Malefic Divide to Special Summon Malefic Stardust Dragon from the Graveyard but it's destroyed during the End Phase. His attack prompts Jaden to not only give a pep talk of his own but activate The Flute of Summoning Kuriboh and let Atem add Kuriboh from his Deck to his hand, which he discards to make the Battle Damage 0. Since it's the End Phase, MSD is destroyed and the original SD returns. Furthermore, Yusei activates Stardust Mirage to revive all monsters the trio lost this turn, Special Summoning Dark Magician, Dark Magician Girl, Junk Gardna and Neos. In addition, Jaden activates Neos Spiral Force to double SD's ATK to 5000 and Atem activates Dark Spiral Force to double its ATK again to 10,000. Their combined attacks destroy MTD to win the duel and revert things to normal just as Pegasus approaches. At sunset, while the events take place below, the trio say their goodbyes and hope that Duel Monsters isn't on the line the next time they meet. Yusei returns to his time and is now able to let go of the past because it's not set in stone, it's what we make it to be. The true magic of Duel Monsters isn't just in the cards, it's in the friendships he's made with the game. |
