Episode 26: Let the Duels Begin |
Outside, Yuma is waiting for the mailman to come but when he does, he has
nothing for Yuma. When the intro rolls, parts of it are the same but parts of it
are new, especially with the new characters. At school, Bronk is excited and
lets Caswell feel it as the World Duel Carnival is starting today. They all got
Heart Pieces in the mail. They need them to compete (and reference Battle City's
Locator Cards from the original Yu-Gi-Oh series) but Yuma didn't get one and is
all torn up about it. However, Caswell makes Yuma realize what he forgot to do,
apply for the tournament. However, when Yuma completes the application, he learns that registration is closed and bolts. Along the way, he runs into Shark, whom doesn't have a Heart Piece, not even for himself as he only duels for himself. Meanwhile, Shark is tossed a Mirror Force card (and we can see the card back got a new look). Shark races up to where the card was thrown and at first doesn't find anyone but someone finds him, reminding him of the events they were involved in that eventually got Shark DQ'd. Shark wanted to win for a family member's sake and the Deck seemingly was placed there to set up Shark. His past rival has been winning trophies all over and after giving Shark a Heart Piece, allows him to settle things at the WDC. Elsewhere, we find another man giggling at cartoons when he learns of Shark's entry in the tournament and both Shark's rival and another man appear. Meanwhile, Yuma and crew are at the entrance to the tournament where Yuma is literally begging to be let in to the WDC but the woman declines, even after Yuma fakes having some health issue. Participants are arriving and a new man and woman are informed of the massive increase of people. Things are looking good but the woman reminds the man, revealed as Nistro, that it may not stay that way, revealing the woman's name as Dextra before Mr. Heartland breaks things up just as Kite and Orbital 7 arrive. Kite was brought there to be a spectator during the WDC and unlike Nistro, has earned the respect he deserves. Nevertheless, one of Mr. Heartland's men informs of Yuma's persistent pleas to get inside the tournament. Mr. Heartland declines but Kite suggests to give Yuma the Heart Piece as anyone could have a Number card these days. While Mr. H is suspicious, Kite has to prepare for the tournament and knows nothing of the explosion. Heading out, Kite assures that Yuma is no threat except to himself but Yuma finally gets his pleas answered after several hours as Mr. H comes out to deliver it personally before asking about the pendant. All Yuma can say is that his mom and dad gave it to him and Mr. H realizes that Yuma is special after all. That evening, the group discuss the events yet to come and Yuma wanted the Heart Piece more to help Astral achieve his goal and less about becoming a champion duelist. Tori doesn't quite share Yuma's excitement as she fears for his safety. All she wants is for him to beat Kite and get out of the tournament safely. While Astral ponders in his world about what Yuma told him, Yuma and others look through their Decks for strategies. The next day, an air show takes place in honor of the WDC starting soon. Fireworks light up the skies as Yuma and others arrive before Mr. H gives the rules of the tournament. With that, the WDC has begun and while Bronk and Flip spread out, Yuma gets a face-full of a card soccer ball from another man. Yuma and this new man are about to duel! |
