Episode 10: Shark Attack
Inside Yuma's key, Astral unlocks another section of gears but has more questions than answers. Meanwhile, Yuma is running late at a crosswalk and when allowed to go, he gets about 2/3 of the way when Shark barrels by and doesn't say anything when stopped. However, traffic all around him is back in motion and they aren't happy that he's in the way. He arrives but Caswell doesn't cut him any slack and doesn't care about Astral. However, he scans Yuma's Deck and Yuma is willing to duel without the Numbers to prove he's a good duelist, even if his opponent is Shark, the same duelist that now hangs with a gang of rough people. Should Yuma duel Shark, it could be the duel of his life. Nevertheless, Yuma ventures through the mall to where he's been told Shark hangs out nowadays. Astral, Bronk and Tori join in regardless but the group soon find trouble as they're captured by Shark's gang but Shark comes to their aid.
However, when asked to duel, Shark declines as he quit dueling and walks away. That evening, the group discuss the matter before Yuma and Astral head home to Yuma's room. The next day, instead of going to school, Yuma and Astral return to Shark's hideout and Shark still isn't willing to duel and heads off with Yuma lagging behind. Eventually, Yuma catches up but Shark remains that they aren't friends. Yuma protests otherwise and sets the stakes for the duel, much to Astral's disapproval. After some conversation, Astral agrees not to help and the others watch from afar. Shark is happy to come out of retirement if it means beating Yuma. After duel preparations get underway, Yuma draws and summons Gogogo Golem (1800) in Attack Mode, then sets 1 card to end his turn.
Shark draws and summons Friller Shark (Friller Rabca in the CG) (700) in Attack Mode. Next he Special Summons Shark Stickers (200) in Attack Mode as Shark Normal Summoned a Fish-Type monster. Then he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Aero Shark (Submersible Carrier Aero Shark as indicated earlier and in the CG) (1900) in Attack Mode. Then he uses SCAS's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself and deal Yuma 400 damage per card in his own hand. (The real card deals 100 damage to your opponent for each of your removed from play monsters.) With 4 cards in Shark's hand, Yuma takes 1600 damage to leave him down to 2400 LPs. Next Shark uses Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Yuma's face-down card (Battle Break).
His attack takes out Yuma's Gogogo Golem and leaves Yuma on the ground and down to 2300 LPs. Finally, Shark sets 1 card to end his turn. Yuma draws and plays Gagaga Magician (1500) in Attack Mode. He then strategizes but realizes he agreed not to play a Number card but Astral and Shark urge him otherwise and Yuma uses Monster Reborn on Gogogo Golem. Then he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Number 39: Utopia (2500) in Attack Mode. His attack prompts Shark to uses FS' effect from the Graveyard to remove itself from play, negate the attack and lower Utopia's ATK by 500 to 2000. Furthermore, Shark activates Fish Rain to Special Summon  Big Jaws (1800) in Attack Mode since he removed from play a Fish-Type monster in his Graveyard.
Astral was afraid this might happen and notes that Monster Reborn can revive monsters from both player's Graveyards and Yuma could've revived Friller Shark and made GM Level 3, then Xyz Summoned Leviathan Dragon to take out SCAS. Instead, Yuma does have Utopia with 2000 ATK, stronger than either of Shark's monsters and Yuma ends his turn. Shark draws and uses SCAS' effect again to detach an Xyz Material and deal Yuma 400 damage per card in his own hand, leaving Yuma down by 800 to 1500. Next, Shark plays Skull Kraken (600) in Attack Mode and uses it and BJ as Xyz Material for Black Ray Lancer (2100) in Attack Mode. Then, he uses BRL's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself and negate Utopia's effects. His attacks take out Utopia and cost Yuma the duel.
Shark had stopped dueling because he was crushed once Yuma won but he's feeling better now and takes Yuma's necklace, then gives it back to remind Yuma of Shark's victory. Shark ignores Yuma's pleas and orders Yuma not to return as those guys he has are all he has, even if they are thugs and heads off. Yuma has failed to rescue Shark!
