Ridiculed Yu-Gi-Oh Cards (Page 1)

Cards below have been recreated with humorous names and card text to reflect my actual views on them.
JUMP-EN060
Reject Number 16: Subpar Master
LIGHT / Fairy-Type Xyz / Rank 4 / ATK 2300 / DEF 1600
3 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn, you can waste 1 Xyz Material with this card to make 1 card type (Monster, Spell, or Trap) useless until the end of your opponent's next turn. That's a feat in itself considering how feeble this guy really is but it'll cost you as well as your opponent.
ULTRA RARE

Comments The fact that it was only available through Shonen Jump Alpha subscription made it even worse because it drove up the card's price, where probably would've otherwise been probably $15 or less. It's just not what I think people make it out to be given that you're just as screwd out of the effect as your opponent, though your opponent can easily play around it it in a variety of ways.
FLOD-EN044
Active Link Arrows  → Left and Right
Knotscary Sobbin' Goblin
WIND / Fiend-Type Link / ATK 1300 / Link-2
2 monsters with different names
If you wasted monsters to Link Summon this card, you can waste another card from your hand, then draw 1 card if this card is ridiculing a monster. After that, you can Normal Summon 1 monster for this card to ridicule addition to your Normal Summon or Set. You can only give "Knotscary Sobbin' Goblin" monsters to ridicule once per turn. Neither player can select your monsters that are ridiculing each other with card effects, and this guy can't either.
ULTRA RARE

Comments He's one of the more recent monsters to become Forbidden but the effects are so situational, especially since the Link Arrows are useless unless it's in the Extra Monster Zone, in terms of using the 1st effect. Plus, with only 1300 ATK, your opponent has very little to worry about so the banning of this weakling makes no sense to me.
NECH-EN079
Subpar Scolding of Stupidity
Counter Trap
If you were dumb enough to have this card and nothing else to protect your monsters in your Spell & Trap Card Zone and are facing down a Summoned monster or a card effect, you can waste 3000 LP to stop the action and destroy the card. Too bad that's more than you'll proably have to be able to use this card.
SECRET RARE

Comments It really is a poor man's Solemn Warning, which has a less steep cost and activation requirement. I don't know why people think it's a good idea to waste nearly half your LP to block an effect or Summon. Sure, Solemn Judgment does too but that's still more versatile than this as it blocks pretty much ANYTHING.
HA03-EN030
Goingnowhere, Disappointment of the Melting Ice Barrier
WATER / Dragon-Type Synchro / Level 7 / ATK 2500 / DEF 1700
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner WATER monsters
Once per turn, you can poorly cosplay as Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier by discarding up to 2 cards from your hand, then destroying that many cards your opponent controls. You may very well trigger Starlight Road and thus have wasted 2 cards for nothing.
SECRET RARE

Comments What else can I say? It literally is a poor version of Brionac. That's why it's not even Forbidden, though I recall at one point it was on the Forbidden & Limited List. Now Brionic is back and its erratum did nothing to its uses (unless you were one to stupidly use it on your own cards).
LTGY-EN063
Storybook of Bad Judgment
Quick-Play Spell
During the End Phase of the turn you foolishly activate this card, you can clutter your hand with useless "Storybook" Spell Cards from your Deck to your hand, other than another copy of this card. If you manage to accumulate a bunch of useless "Storybook" cards in your Graveyard, you can make them somewhat useful by banishing them to bring out a Spellcaster. Luckily, you can't use more than one of this card per turn.
SECRET RARE

Comments I really couldn't give it much credit back when it came out considering that it had very few uses, most of which were limited to Spellbook-based Decks and you're not always going to have that super awesome opening hand that defeats your opponent quickly.
NECH-EN021
Qliphail Scout
EARTH / Machine-Type Pendulum / Level 5 / ATK 1000 / DEF 2800 / Scale 9
Your Pendulum Summons are useless unless they're all "Qliphail" monsters. Once per turn, you can waste 800 LP to add 1 bad support card from your Deck to your hand, and no you can't add another copy of this guy.

Duelists have said this machine has an immense amount of power ut they are mistaken as this is all masking its true identity as a run-down vending machine with few uses and functionality, none of which make it worth writing home about. Its future is said to be the scrapyard where it will be melted down and recycled into something actually worth using.
ULTRA RARE

Comments People made the entire Archetype seem so overpowered because some of them are actually on the Forbidden & Limited List when they have no reason to be. They're highly restrained to each other so the Pendulum Scale is pretty much irrelevent. Its ATK and DEF also do not justify using it when we have Level 5 monsters with 3000 DEF that have no such restraints. Its rarity is also much too high for the tiny puddle of uses it has brought with it and spread to its friends.
PEVO-EN003
Dimwitted Insignificant Magician
DARK / Spellcaster-Type Pendulum / Level 4 / ATK 1500 / DEF 1000 / Scale 8
Once per turn, you can select 1 DARK Spellcaster-Type monster you control and allow it to double the damage it deals but you lose this card in return.

(This card's name is always treated as a useless "Pendulame Dragon" card.)
If this card is destroyed, you can add 1 "Pendulamegraph" card from your Deck to your hand.
ULTRA RARE

Comments A one-trick magician does not get the crowd approval and it didn't get mine but it's Forbidden as well so I guess it's the magician's gullible audience that believes the tricks are real.
ORCS-EN099
M-X Reject Saber the Incapable Fighter
EARTH / Warrior-Type Xyz / Rank 3 / ATK 1600 / DEF 500
2 Level 3 monsters
Once per turn, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to Special Summon 1 Level 4 EARTH Warrior or Beast-Warrior-Type monster from your Deck in Defense Position that'll likely be stronger than this card and requires less effort, but it self-destructs during the End Phase. Guess you were that desperate to have an extra monster for defense and/or to use as material for an Extra Deck Monster.
SECRET RARE

Comments Doesn't really matter what it brings out because it either will have high DEF and low ATK or be vulnerable in Defense Mode but this also limits your options further but apparently that's not enough to keep it from being forbidden like it is now.
HA07-EN020
Daigarbage Emeral
WIND / Rock-Type Xyz / Rank 4 / ATK 1800 / DEF 800
2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn, you can waste 1 of this card's Xyz Materials to use one bad effect below.
● Do a bad cosplay of Pot of Avarice with less reward.
● Cosplay as a mashup of Soul Resurrection and Silent Doom with the same lack of playability.
SECRET RARE

Comments It's been Forbidden too but its effects don't help me understand that, nor do the reasons behind it on the Yu-Gi-Oh Wiki page.
CIBR-EN038
Self-Destructo, the Loser Dragon's Failure
DARK / Dragon-Type Tuner / Level 7 / ATK 1000 / DEF 3000
If this card is in your hand or Graveyard, you can foolishly pay half your LP and select a Level 6 or lower monster you control. Special Summon this card and drop this card's Level by the selected monster's Level. If this card ever leaves the field, it's out of your reach because it's at the bottom of the Deck.
RARE

Comments I've already told at least a few people my views on this card but they insist its either great or overpowered but how is that better than reviving or Summoning a Tuner monster from your hand for free? Even lowering its Level has better uses.
LCGX-EN041
Garbage the Falling Star of Bogusness
EARTH / Beast / Level 3 / ATK 800 / DEF 800
You're welcome to reveal this weakling in your hand to your opponent, then try to get a Monster Card so you can deal 200 x its Level to your opponent. Otherwise, he's leaving you to suffer defeat.
SECRET RARE

Comments I remember reading about how "broken" this card was but it's a huge risk and with very little reward. Plus it's hardly strong enough to survive so the hype I felt was unjustified.
LVAL-EN056
Loserswarm Overexcited Knight
LIGHT / Fiend-Type Xyz / Rank 4 / ATK 1900 / DEF 0
2 Level 4 monsters
During your Main Phase or your opponent's Battle Phase, if your hand and field have less cards than your opponent, you can waste 1 Xyz Material from this card to leave this guy alone on the field. Oh and you can't even damage your opponent after using the effect so you've wasted time and effort for nothing.
SECRET RARE

Comments He definitely got too excited because he nukes the field then reveals the bad news to you regarding your actual damage opportunities, which is none.
LCJW-EN273
Worst Sense
Normal Trap
State 2 numbers from 1 to 6. Your opponent then rolls a six-sided die, but your odds of success are only 1 in 3 and even if your Deck is built on the Graveyard, you're screwing yourself out of options for later. Good to know you don't value your Deck at all.
COMMON

Comments The card is only useful in the vast minority of Decks and that just means the rest of them can win without having to do much at all.
CT12-EN003
Entirely Underwhelming Entity Nogood
WATER / Fairy-Type Fusion / Level 4 / ATK 2000 / DEF 2200
1 Synchro or Xyz Monster + 1 Synchro or Xyz Monster
When this card is Special Summoned, you get to revive a Level 4 or lower monster from your Graveyard that loses its effect and is banished when it leaves the field. Call of the Haunted is looking a whole lot better now isn't it?
SUPER RARE

Comments It's currently Forbidden despite being a less-than-ideal copy of Monster Reborn and Call of the Haunted, both of which revive anything from the Graveyard. Plus, the only way to get it on the field without using the Fusion Materials is using another poor excuse of a card.
DOCS-EN016
Poorformage Dimfire
FIRE / Spellcaster-Type Pendulum / Level 4 / ATK 1000 / DEF 1000 / Scale 5
If by chance your other "Poorformage" monsters are destroyed, you can have this card take their place but this fire burns right back with 500 damage. This card does so poorly that the effect can only be done once per turn, not that you'll likely be in a position to do so.

If this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, which is fairly easy to do thanks to this card's lack of protection, you can bring out another useless "Poorformage" monster to take its place.
COMMON

Comments This card has been hit on the banned list for no good reason as it allegedly has combos with cards that have also been hit but not banned. I don't see any possible combos that made this worth banning.
LTGY-EN039
Tidal, Disappointing Result of Wimpy Waterfalls
WATER / Dragon / Level 7 / ATK 2600 / DEF 2000
If this card is in your hand or Graveyard, you can get rid of precious WATER and/or Dragon-Type monsters in your hand or Graveyard other than this card, then Special Summon this card from your hand. You can ditch this card and 1 WATER from your hand to the Graveyard to waste another monster resource from your Deck. If this card is removed from play, you can add 1 WATER Dragon-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. The effect is once per turn but it's useless anyway.
RARE

Comments Honestly, Dragon Rulers weren't that impressive as a whole considering they generally only work well in Decks that use both monsters needed to Special Summon them by their effects and were generally not that strong. They were likely only hit because of combos with Sacred Sword of Seven Stars.
DREV-EN062
Pot of Unplayability
Normal Spell
Reveal the top 3 cards of your Deck but don't get your hopes up. You'll probably get nothing good but you'll have to pick one anyway to add to your hand. Put the rest back as I'm sure you'll have no use for them anyway. You can't even Special Summon for the rest of this turn and can't activate any other copies of this card.
SECRET RARE

Comments I distinctly remember laughing when I pulled this card out of 2 packs of DREV-EN because not only did I pay around $8 for a $112 card but IMO, the card absolutely sucked (and still does IMO).
RATE-EN053
Zerodiac Diredent
EARTH / Beast-Warrior-Type Xyz / Rank 4 / ATK ? / DEF ?
4 Level 4 monsters
Don't count on this guy ever having the ATK and DEF to make up for it, even with multiple Xyz Materials. Once per turn, you can try wasting an Xyz Material to add to its ATK and DEF. Once per turn, during either player's turn, you can also get rid of one of this guy's useless Xyz Materials to copy other cards' effects with more effort.
SECRET RARE

Comments The Archetype as a whole never impressed me since it was just utilizing the effects of the Xyz Materials while the Xyz Monster sits there doing absolutely nothing and losing ATK and DEF the entire time. Plus, since the other Xyz Monsters also have undefined ATK and DEF, it's pretty much impossible to give them high enough ATK when you use the effects. I also don't see why the Deck caused some actual tournament stores to ban the use of the Deck as a whole. Were they that desperate for variety?
HA04-EN060
Trashula, Dragon of Disappointment
WATER / Dragon-Type Synchro / Level 9 / ATK 2700 / DEF 2000
1 Tuner + 2+ non-Tuner monsters
After wasting your efforts to bring this card out, you can banish 3 of your opponent's cards (1 from the hand, one from the field and 1 from the Graveyard) but you probably won't get anything good anyway.
SECRET RARE

Comments I just never saw the hype with this card, even though it managed to win the Duel. It's honestly just a mediocre card with sub-par effects that are entirely a gamble and only for the turn it hits the field.
EXFO-EN049
Active Link Arrows  → Top
Clara and Rushka, the Overhyped Garbage Duo
EARTH / Spellcaster-Type Link / ATK 0 / Link-1
1 Normal Summoned/Set monster
Now that you've wasted the effort to bring this card out, the pairing would regret to inform you that they're utterly useless as they're not even the card capable of winning Duels, even in top tier Decks.
ULTRA RARE

Comments Yep, it's ranked pretty high on the unplayable scale yet top Duelists are actually using this card just to trigger the effects of the ABC Union monsters released in SDKS-EN, which is just pitiful as this card also lacks any sufficient ATK to make that a good idea. Seriously, cards like Self-Mummification can do the same thing without wasting Extra Deck space and if you're one of those like "well that's not easily searchable", then neither is A-Assault Core. You'll still have to draw cards that search it out so it's the same problem.
