Ridiculed Yu-Gi-Oh Cards (Page 2)
Cards below have been recreated with humorous names and card text to reflect my actual views on them. | |
DR2-EN095 | |
Disappointing Dimwit Fusion Normal Spell Waste 2000 Life Points. Both players Special Summon as many of their removed from play monsters as possible but you'll probably be facing an army of your opponent's monsters that your opponent got for free. SUPER RARE |
|
Comments: | I always felt the cost far outweighed the monsters you brought back, especially since you could use Bottomless Trap Hole to take them all out at once while yours were fine. Plus, you didn't pay anything to bring them back. |
ORCS-EN044 | |
Torn-Up Useless Carrier Zeromaity WATER / Machine-Type Xyz / Rank 3 / ATK 1500 / DEF 1500 2 Level 3 monsters Once per turn, you can waste 1 Xyz Material from this card to clog 1 of your Monster Card Zones with a "Torn-Up" monster from your hand or Deck. When a face-up "Torn-Up" monster on the field is destroyed and sent to your Graveyard, you can waste 1 Xyz Material from this card to pointlessly return that monster to the hand where it can be anticipated by your opponent later. ULTRA RARE |
|
Comments: | The once while face-up on the field effects of Wind-Ups were definitely not placed high on my list of good cards considering that the effect was useless if it got negated and turning it face-down or re-summoning it didn't change that at all. They were also all pretty weak and not even the Xyz Monsters really made up for it. |
CROS-EN050 | |
Less-than-Stellarknight Ptolemaeus LIGHT / Warrior-Type Xyz / Rank 4 / ATK 550 / DEF 2600 2 or more Level 4 monsters During either player's turn, you can waste 3 Xyz Materials from this card to Xyz Summon 1 monster from your Extra Deck that is 1 Rank higher than this card that isn't a "Reject Number" monster by making this card that monster's only Xyz Material. Attach any stray Xyz Materials to the Summoned monster. If that's not enough, you can waste 7 Xyz Materials from this card just to skip your opponent's next turn. During each player's End Phase, you can attach 1 "Less-than-Stellarknight" card that is taking up space in your Extra Deck to this card. ULTRA RARE |
|
Comments: | While I've found that some Satellarknights were actually pretty good, this guy really doesn't stand up with them. In fact, it sits in Defense Mode to rid itself of its Xyz Materials for effects that are easily better replicated with other cards. |
ANPR-EN005 | |
Brokenwing - Vayu the Emperor of
Hopelessness DARK / Winged Beast-Type Tuner / Level 1 / ATK 800 / DEF 0 It cannot even be Synchro Material. If this card is in your Graveyard, you can remove this card and 1 non-Tuner "Brokenwing" monster in your Graveyard from play, and Special Summon 1 "Brokenwing" Synchro Monster from your Extra Deck that loses ts effects and isn't even Summoned properly. ULTRA RARE |
|
Comments: | I was never fond of using Synchro Materials from the Grave because if the Synchro Summon is stopped, you will have a much harder time getting the would-be Synchro Materials back. Plus, this card doesn't do anything useful on its own, making more generic Tuners and other Blackwing Tuners way more versatile and much better. They also generally don't have the absurd Rarity this card has. |
HA07-EN019 | |
Lackluster Underperforming Chain FIRE / Sea Serpent-Type Xyz / Rank 4 / ATK 1800 / DEF 1000 2 Level 4 monsters Once per turn, you can waste 1 Xyz Material from this card to activate a bad effect below. ● Send 1 useless card from your Deck to the Graveyard. ● Place 1 useless monster from your Deck on top of your Deck that'll easily be countered later in the Duel. SECRET RARE |
|
Comments: | Both effects and its stats to me do not have any merit for banning it outright, nor does the apparent loop with multiple copies (in which case you end up using six monsters for three mediocre monsters). |
DUEA-EN049 | |
El Failuredoll Poor Construction LIGHT / Fairy-Type Fusion / Level 8 / ATK 2800 / DEF 2500 1 "Failuredoll" monster + 1 LIGHT monster It has to be Fusion Summoned first and when you do, you get to poorly cosplay as Foolish Burial and dump a "Failuredoll" card in your Graveyard. At the start of the Damage Step, you get to poorly cosplay as Ally of Justice Catastor by destroying the monster if that monster was Special Summoned. If this card is sent to the Graveyard, you can select 1 useless "Failuredoll" Spell or Trap Card in your Graveyard and add it to your hand. ULTRA RARE |
|
Comments: | Shaddolls were also not impressive to me, yet this one has gone to the highest rank of the Forbidden & Limited List and is now trapped without any way to see play until it comes off the list. The combos mentioned on Yu-Gi-Oh Wiki are also subpar due to how subpar the other monsters in question are (apart from Fairy Tail - Luna and not because of the effect). I'm sure Konami will do the right thing but given they've recently unbanned broken cards, maybe not. |
INOV-EN048 | |
Dimwit, Worst of the Jank Zing LIGHT / Wyrm-Type Synchro-Type Tuner / Level 5 / ATK 0 / DEF 2800 1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters If this card is Special Summoned, you can add 1 bad "Jank Zing" card from your Deck to your hand. Once per turn, you can waste 1 Wyrm-Type monster in\ your Deck to the Graveyard to have this card's Level match the sent monster's. If this face-up card is removed from the field, you can replace it with an equally bad "Jank Zing" monster from your Deck. ULTRA RARE |
|
Comments: | Reading through all the Yang Zing monsters' effects didn't really impress me by any standard, especailly since I consider Synchro Summoning during the opponent's turn to be a mediocre stall tactic. This guy being a Tuner with mediocre effects doesn't make that any better. |
TDIL-EN013 | |
Brokenwing - Garbage that
Underperforms DARK / Winged Beast-Type Tuner / Level 5 / ATK 0 / DEF 0 This guy feels so sorry for itself that it waits until you're defenseless to try and save your Life Points. When this card is Special Summoned, bring out two more useless "Vague Shadow Tokens" (Winged-Beast-Type/DARK/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0). If you're desperate to Synchro Summon, you can foolishly remove this card and 1 or more face-up non-Tuners from play to Special Summon 1 "Brokenwing" Synchro Monster that just becomes a Tuner monster. COMMON |
|
Comments: | It's been banned for not only it's mediocre Cyber Dragon effect and because of uses with equally mediocre cards. If I wanted a Blackwing Tuner, I'd most definitely use Gale over this garbage. |
THSF-EN030 | |
Rejected Beast Underwhelming
Cannahawk WIND / Thunder-Type Fusion / Level 6 / ATK 1400 / DEF 1600 1 "Rejected Beast Tamer" monster + 1 "Sucky Beast" monster You have no choice to bring this guy out only other than by banishing the above monsters you control. (Don't worry about wasting "Polymerization".) Once per turn, you can cosplay as Burial from a Different Dimension to return 2 "Rejected Beasts" to your Graveyard. During either player's turn: You can poorly cosplay as De-Fusion to undo your efforts and Special Summon 1 banished mediocre or useless "Rejected Beast" and 1 "Sucky Beast" monster in Defense Position. SECRET RARE |
|
Comments: | The alleged combos of Fusion Summoning, then De-Fusing and re-fusing this card really don't make any sense when you're not achieving anything useful, apart from adding to your hand. There are much better ways to add to your hand than going through an endless cycle of this shenanigan but I guess players in the TCG don't seem to get that as it's at 1 over here whereas it's still at 3 in the OCG. |
EXFO-EN098 | |
Active Link Arrows → | Bottom-Left and Bottom-Right |
Heavymetalfailures of Epic
Proportions FIRE / Psychic-Type Link / ATK 1800 / Link-2 2 Pendulum Monsters If this card is Link Summoned: You can grab a useless Pendulum Monster from your Deck and place it on your Extra Deck face-up. Once per turn: You can pointlessly destroy 1 of your cards just to get a Pendulum Monster that can be searched better elsewhere. If you end up losing this card, you get to draw 1 card but it's not going to be that useful. SECRET RARE |
|
Comments: | Another Link Monster limited to 1 but with no good reasoning behind it, especailly since 1-for-1 deals are generally pretty bad and even if it does have uses in Pendulum-based Decks, most Pendulum Monsters outright suck or are mediocre at best. |
PGL3-EN021 | |
Beatrice, Loser of Eternal Failure LIGHT / Fairy-Type Xyz / Rank 6 / ATK 2500 / DEF 2800 2 Level 6 monsters Can't meet the above requirements? Try wasting a useless "Burned Out Abyss" monster from your hand and using 1 equally useless "Dimwitted Dante" monster you control as the Xyz Material. (Don't worry about the Xyz Materials they're pointless here.) The rest of the effect is irrelevent this turn if the 2nd method is used so why bother? GOLD SECRET RARE |
|
Comments: | She's at 1 as well but all her combos are restrained to a Deck that in itself is mediocre. Plus, even if it can be used in non-Burning Abyss Decks, that's irrelevent because so can cards like Foolish Burial that take no effort to use for the same effect. |
SDKS-EN041 | |
ABC-Dead Dragon of Disappointment LIGHT / Machine-Type Fusion / Level 8 / ATK 3000 / DEF 2500 "A-Annual Crier" + "B-Broken Dreams" + "C-Cannot Win" Must first be Special Summoned (from your Extra Deck) by banishing the above cards you control and/or from your Graveyard. (There's no need to waste "Polymerization".) Once per turn, during either player's turn, you can waste a card in your hand just to banish a card on the field. You can also banish this card for no reason to bring back three useless LIGHT monsters that are banished. ULTRA RARE |
|
Comments: | I only considered a moderately better version of XYZ-Dragon Cannon yet it's found itself down to 1 copy per Extra Deck on Japan's Forbidden and Limited list. Yu-Gi-Oh Wiki explains that this is down to Ties of the Brethren and Future Fusion (the latter of which is literally garbage now thanks to its erratum so that one is irrelevent). It'll likely have to clear more than one card just to make for that OTK but why would you bring this guy out, then swap it for a Rank 4 Xyz Summon that would probably get destroyed? It's easy to see why the TCG has it at 3. |
TSHD-EN089 | |
Inferior Barrier Counter Trap Activate only when your opponent activates a Spell Card, Trap Card or Effect Monster's effect if you control a face-up Attack Position "Inferior" monster and are dumb enough to have no cards in your hand for the sake of a mediocre Deck strategy. Negate the activation and destroy that card. SECRET RARE |
|
Comments: | Infernities are another Archetype that I felt were being overhyped because it's quite risky to not only start a Duel to get no cards in your hand but keep it that way because it's a very easy strategy to play around and the opponent can't use any Hand Traps (ie the likes of Effect Veiler) to counter them. No one even runs Infernities anymore anyway to my knoweldge so Barrier should be at 3. |
HSRD-EN035 | |
Pitiful Frameloser Omega LIGHT / Psychic-Type Synchro / Level 8 / ATK 2800 / DEF 2200 1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters Once per turn, during either player's Main Phase, you can cosplay as previously crappy cards to banish this card and an opponent's monster. Once per turn, during your opponent's Standby Phase, you can poorly cosplay as Burial from a Different Dimension to return 1 banished card to the Graveyard. If this card is in your Graveyard you can poorly cosplay as Pot of Avarice for no reward. SECRET RARE |
|
Comments: | The card is currently at 1 but there's nothing in the card's text that indicates why and as usual the Yu-Gi-Oh Wiki's reasoning makes the card seem way more powerful than it actually is. |
HA06-EN046 | |
Evergarbage Weakraken WATER / Aqua-Type Ritual / Level 6 / ATK 2400 / DEF 1000 You can Ritual Summon this card with any "Garbage" Ritual Spell Card (not that it matters because they all suck anyway). When this card is foolishly Ritual Summoned, poorly cosplay as Confiscation by picking 2 random cards in your opponent's hand and shuffling 1 of them into the Deck. SECRET RARE |
|
Comments: | Cards that reveal other cards in the opponent's hand never seemed broken to me because no matter what the effect gives you in return, you're either unable to stop whatever is in your opponent's hand or you reveal that your opponent has a bad hand so it's utterly pointless. |
STBL-EN018 | |
Blown Out Bulb EARTH / Plant-Type Tuner / Level 1 / ATK 100 / DEF 100 You can needlessly send the top card of your Deck to the Graveyard and Special Summon this card from the Graveyard. Then you can facepalm for making such a dumb mistake. Each player can only use the effect of "Blown Out Bulb" once per Duel. I'm sure you have better lightbulbs in your house than this. ULTRA RARE |
|
Comments: | The hype of this card made no sense either. Its once per Duel effect makes it utterly no better than any other Tuner monster that can be reived many more ways than this and doesn't have any restraints, or at least the big one this guy has. At least it's currently Unlimited as it's doing nothing and never should be on the Forbidden & Limited List. |
ANPR-EN027 | |
Feeble Fishbait WATER / Fish-Type Tuner / Level 1 / ATK 100 / DEF 200 If you control a face-up Level 3 or lower WATER monster (that is probably equally useless), you can ditch 1 card in your hand to Special Summon thsi card from your Graveyard and have two pretty much useless monsters on your field that can't both be Synchro Material unless they're all WATER. COMMON |
|
Comments: | It's banned too but given the restraints, it has no reason to be at all. They made an even crappier version years later as if to compensate for this card's alleged brokeness but it doesn't make either card any more playable. |
CDIP-EN040 | |
Instant Failure Normal Spell Waste 1000 Life Points. Special Summon 1 terrible Level 5 or lower Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck that is clogging space in your Extra Deck as a Fusion Summon. It can't do much of anything, except self-destruct at the end of the turn. You can't do that again in the same turn either. COMMON |
|
Comments: | Even to this day, I've always found the 1000 LP cost just for what most use for a vanilla Fusion Monster that has so little impact on the game, even if it's brought out by this card's effect to be just awful. Plus, if you're using it for a Summon, I'm pretty sure there are way better ways to do with that are also cost-free too, or at least don't cost you LP or Extra Deck space. Sea Monster of Thesus is literally just for using this card and thus is totally pointless too. |
CORE-EN067 | |
Chicken Lame Field Spell The player that is currently losing the Duel takes no damage. Once per turn, the current losing player can dig themselves a deeper hole by paying 1000 LP, then applying one of these bad effects. ● Cosplay as Jar of Greed ● Cause this card to self-destruct ● Your opponent gets free LP. Neither player can attempt to respond to this card's effect but there's no point. SHORT PRINT COMMON |
|
Comments: | It's forbidden and short-printed and only because of some underwhelming combo with Life Equalizer, which no one really uses and even with that, that doesn't make either card remotably useful. |
BOSH-EN003 | |
Poorformapal Mundanekeyboard EARTH / Beast-Type Pendulum / Level 6 / ATK 1000 / DEF 2400 / Scale 1 This card becomes less playable if your other Pendulum Zone lacks a "Poorformapal" monster in it. Activating this card means you can add another useless"Poorformapal" monster from your Deck to your hand. At least it's nice enough to restrict you in using the effect to once per turn. You can ditch this card, then confirm to your opponent that you have 1 "Poorformapal" or "Overhyped-Eyes" monster in your hand just to reduce the Level of your monsters by 1. COMMON |
|
Comments: | I have still never understood why this card is now Forbidden when it has the same sub-par effects as most of the other Performapals and only a select few others are on the Forbidden and Limited List. It's quite weak and highly specific on all accounts of its effects. |
