Episode 137: Battle for the Bronze (3) | |
At the duel, Kaiba is about to prove that Joey never belonged in the tournament in the first place but Joey protests that both of them finished in the top 4 and once he wins, he'll outrank Kaiba but it's not that simple and he plays Baby Dragon (700) in Defense Mode to end his turn. Meanwhile, Yami learns that Good Marik is inside Tea's mind but is weak and gets weaker by the second. At last, Tea` awakens but doesn't remember much after watching Joey duel Kaiba. Kaiba draws and uses Stop Defense on Joey's Hayabusa Knight, then attacks it with his Blue-Eyes White Dragon, destroying it but Joey activates Nutrient Z to gain 4000 Life Points before his LPs decrease by 2000 or more points, bringing his score up to 4100, then down to 2100 with Kaiba's attack. Kaiba sets 1 card to end his turn, not impressed by Joey's move. Joey's draw yields him Time Wizard, which he plays (500) in Attack Mode and Kaiba protests that Joey's plan will never work but Joey's plan does work and his Baby Dragon becomes Thousand Dragon (2400) in Attack Mode and while Joey watches Kaiba's BEWD disappear in surprise, Kaiba shows that BEWD disappeared because of his activated Interdimensional Matter Transporter and now returns to the field unharmed. While Joey depends on luck, Kaiba depends on his skills and that's the difference. Joey cracks up, telling Kaiba to lighten up and have fun but Kaiba doesn't have fun and wouldn't expect someone like Joey to understand. Kaiba draws and uses his Thunder Dragon's effect to discard it and get 2 more copies. Next he uses Polymerization to discard them for Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon (2800) in Attack Mode. Finally he uses his Quick Attack card to let his THTD attack the turn it was Summoned. Back on the Duel Tower, Tea` learns that the duel was still in progress when Yami left and head off to see the outcome. Kaiba attacks with his monsters, destroying Joey's TD and winning the duel respectively. Mokuba congratulates Kaiba but Kaiba doesn't consider winning the duel a cause to celebrate and walks away but Joey says he'll keep dueling Kaiba until he wins. His friends get Joey to stay cool and they walk away while Kaiba considers no reason to stick around there anymore. Ishizu advises Kaiba to stay for the final duel and help Yami but Kaiba declines until he hears her talk about his role. However, all it does is convince him to tear down his Duel Tower but Mokuba concludes that Yami was right about Kaiba being filled with hate. He suggests Kaiba help Yami to prevent more damage. Elsewhere, Joey isn't happy that Tea` and Yami left partway through and Tristan explains what was missed. On the Duel Tower, Dark Marik thinks that he'll soon have Yami's powers and that Ra is still stronger than Slifer and Obelisk combined. On the ground, Kaiba notes that the odds of Yami's success are slim but he himself holds the one card that can beat Ra but it must be played the right way and heads off to the top of his Duel Tower. At the top, the platform is raised as the last duel of the tournament is about to begin but Kaiba reaches the top in time to give him the card that can beat Dark Marik but if not, it's all over! |
