Episode 76: Friends 'Till the End (2)

At the duel site, Marik/Joey continues gloating that he'll win the duel in no time at all while Yami protests otherwise. Tea`'s words to remind of their friendship gives Yugi an idea and he speaks to Yami. Given the green light, Yami becomes Yugi and draws, getting Joey's Red-Eyes card, thinking it's his only hope. Meanwhile. Serenity and Tristan are being chased by the Rare Hunter trio from earlier and find themselves cornered until Duke Devlin gets them stunned for a bit while they escape. Back at the duel, Yugi is about to bring out Red-Eyes but Yami reminds him of how risky the move is and considers an even riskier move.

Tea` tries again in vain to get Joey to normal before Yugi finally takes his turn by activating Exchange, letting Joey take a card from Yugi's deck (well actually from his hand as we'll soon see and a note that it has the Japanese artwork because the US version should have Exodia pieces). Marik/Joey would be glad to take a card from Yugi's hand but hesitates when he sees his own Red-Eyes card and in the end takes Card Destruction while Yugi takes Magical Arm Shield. Next, he tributes his monsters for Red-Eyes Black Dragon (Red-Eyes B. Dragon in the CG) (2400) in Attack Mode and Joey is really struggling against Marik's control over him. Making matters worse for Marik, Odeon reports of Joey's sisters' escape and is ordered to capture her immediately. Yugi's attack with Red-Eyes takes out the weakened-by-Spellbinding-Circle Alligator's Sword to leave Marik/Joey's score down to 2400. Then he has one last idea, which is liked even less by Yami but Yami is willing to allow it.

However, Marik/Joey draws and uses a third Hinotama card to leave Yugi's score down another 500 Life Points to 1000. Elsewhere, while the Rare Hunters search for their subjects, said subjects get caught up on each others' happenings. Still dueling, Yugi staggers across the dueling area to reach the other side as Marik/Joey summons Rocket Warrior (1500) in Attack Mode, then activates Attrition. His attack on Red-Eyes, leaves REBD down 500 ATK to 1900 by RW's effect, then 400 by Attrition's effect. Seeing his weakened prized monster awakens Joey's real mind again and is left bewildered as he gains possession of Yugi's Millennium Puzzle.
