Episode 72: Double Duel (3)

Lumis and Umbra are quivering in fear at the sight of Kaiba's Blue-Eyes White Dragon until Yami and Kaiba begin arguing and point out that Kaiba's BEWD is weaker than The Masked Beast but Yami tells Kaiba his monster can beat it. Kaiba agrees and attacks, destroying TMB as Yami explains that his Beast of Gilfer's effect was activated when sent to the Graveyard (via Card Destruction) and he chose TMB, lowering its ATK by 500 to 2700, enough for Kaiba's BEWD to destroy it and leave Umbra down to 3700 LPs. Once again, Kaiba and Yami argue before Kaiba ends his turn. Lumis sets 1 monster and 2 cards face down for his turn. Yami draws, taking another 1000 damage from the combined effects of Lumis' Mask cards, leaving him down to 1500. Next, he summons Alpha the Magnet Warrior (1400) in Attack Mode and attacks, destroying Lumis' hidden Melchid the Four-Face Beast (1200) in Defense Mode as Lumis wants to save his Trap Card for Kaiba's BEWD when it attacks.

Umbra reminds Lumis of their current situation but Lumis has it figured out and tells Kaiba to say goodbye to his BEWD. In the warehouse, Tea` finds a way for Mokuba to perhaps get to Kaiba (Did they replace the crushed boxes from before because last episode, Tea` tried escaping and they buckled under her weight yet here they are good as new.) Elsewhere, Odeon checks on Joey, now tied up in a chair. Joey awakens and insults Odeon and his group before Marik literally takes over. Back in the warehouse, as Tea` helps Mokuba reach the window, three Rare Hunters (as we find out shortly after) are approaching their room. Mokuba reaches the edge as the trio of Rare Hunters enter and proceed up the box mountain but it's not stable and the stash comes crashing to the floor leaving Mokuba dangling over the edge of the window opening. Tea` says not to worry about her and Mokuba heads off.Two of the three men restrain Tea` while the third (and a few others) go after Mokuba, whom makes his next move from behind a crate.

On the skyscraper, Umbra plays Rogue Doll (1600) in Attack Mode and Kaiba ridicules it but when Umbra attacks, Lumis activates both Mask of Weakness to drain Kaiba's BEWD of 700 ATK, leaving at 2300 and another Mask of Brutality, raising Rogue Doll's ATK by 1000 to 2600. However, Yami is ready with Mystical Refpanel to make Kaiba's BEWD the new target, raising its ATK by 1000 to 3300 (though from 11:28 to 11:30 into the US episode, the numbers fluctuate before stopping at the right number). (The real card can only be activated against Spell Cards targeting a player such as letting them draw 1 card.) Kaiba counterattacks, destroying RD and leaving Umbra down to 2000 LPs and willing to blame his teammate for the incident. Now the teams have switched sides in which Kaiba is now willing to let Yami help while Umbra has decided to depend only on himself, setting 1 card to end his turn.

Meanwhile, Tristan and Serenity make it on board a train in the nick of time. They'll be in Battle City in no time but on the skyscraper, Kaiba attacks, not thinking of Umbra's face down card. In response, Umbra activates Mask of Impregnability, protecting his LPs from direct attacks this turn. However, Kaiba is still smiling, asking Lumis if Umbra would've protected him with that same Spell Card or let him lose. On the train, they're only minutes from arrival in Battle City and Serenity thanks Tristan for everything he's done for her and puts Tristan in the friend zone.

Joey enters Tea`'s new location where she's locked up in a chair but it's not completely Joey anymore.

Still on the skyscraper, Lumis uses Pot of Greed but his new cards don't make his hand better so he sets 1 card and uses Card Exchange to swap all cards in his hand with Umbra. Unbra regretfully hands over his cards. Next, he activates Chosen One and sets 2 Spell or Trap Cards and 1 Monster Card for it to choose. When the spinner stops, it lands on Umbra's former monster, letting Lumis bring out Masked Beast Des Gardius (3300) in Attack Mode. (You wouldn't be able to summon MBDG this way in the CG because MBDG has a summoning condition that must be met first.) Yami should forget about rescuing his friends, they belong to Marik now!
