Episode 73: Double Duel (4)

On top of the skyscraper, Lumis takes his time making up his mind until he concludes to attack one of Yami's monsters. However, Kaiba convinces him to change his mind and he takes out Kaiba's BEWD, leaving Kaiba down to 1800. It turns out to be a mistake as Yami summons Gamma the Magnet Warrior (1500) in Attack Mode, then tributes them for Valkyrion the Magna Warrior (3500) in Attack Mode (as they are Normal Monsters and have no special abilities, Yami). Yami remains hesitant at first, questioning a possible effect Des Gardius has that may block his attack (with Lumis confirming his suspicion) but he attacks anyway, destroying Masked Beast Des Gardius and leaving Lumis down 3700 LPs.

As a result, Lumis activates Des Gardius' effect to gain control over Valkyrion via The Mask of Remnants (which isn't a card here but is noted for when the cards are posted below). Umbra uses Masquerade to gain control over Valkyrion from Lumis and attacks but Yami activates De-Fusion, returning Valkyrion to Alpha, Beta, and Gamma in Attack Mode. (De-Fusion can't be used on Valkyrion in the CG because it's an Effect Monster not a Fusion Monster as it's being treated as here.) Kaiba draws, and uses Soul Exchange to tribute Umbra's monsters for Obelisk the Tormentor (4000) in Attack Mode (but the stats climb to 4850 for whatever reason). Kaiba attacks Umbra directly, causing Umbra to eventually plummet but his robe comes with a parachute, which saves him when it lands on a pole sticking out. Lumis pleads for him to come back but it's too late, he's on his own and the odds are stacked against him.

Before anything else can occur, Marik takes over Lumis' mind, explaining the next phase of his plan involving Yami's closest friends. Kaiba gets fed up and grabs Lumis by the collar until Yami tells him it's not worth it and Marik releases his grip, leaving Lumis lifeless. Kaiba gives Yami his 6th Locator Card, giving both of them enough to qualify for the finals but Yami is disgusted that Kaiba can think about the tournament after what Marik said. Kaiba is well aware that he needs to find Mokuba but before either of them can come up with a plan, one of his helicopters arrives and lands. Mokuba hops out, explaining what he knows before Kaiba orders Yami to get inside the copter.

Meanwhile, Tristan steps out of the train to snag one of everything before somehow making it back on board in time. Sometime later, the stash's contents are emptied and Serenity still isn't feeling comfortable enough about removing her bandages but gets the confidence she needs from Tristan's next sentence. Back in the copter, the Rare Hunters' location where Joey and Tea` is picked up weakly and Yami and Kaiba are on their way to save them!
