Episode 57: Yugi vs. Rare Hunter (2)

At the duel, mental thoughts from Yugi, Joey and Seeker play through (and they STILL have it wrong for the final Exodia piece at 1:38 into the US episode because when Seeker fans out the cards in his hand, you can see the missing card is the Right Leg not Left Arm). At Kaiba Corp, Kaiba's technical experts indicate that Seeker's cards are marked with an invisible ink yet Kaiba is willing to  let it slide, thinking that Seeker might have what Kaiba wants (why on earth would he, given that 15 cards in his deck are Exodia pieces, drastically lowering the odds of being able to summon one of them and makes for a dead draw more so than extra Exodia pieces?). Back at the duel, Yami sets 1 card face down and attacks, destroying Seeker's Stone Statue of the Aztecs, leaving Seeker with 1 monster out.

Seeker laughs, gloating about soon being able to take Yami's Dark Magician and getting praise from Controlling Man. Seeker goes to draw but Yami activates Time Seal, preventing him from taking his Draw Phase. (The real card only lasts until its effect's resolution if not negated first.) However, the card's effect only lasts one turn and he needs to draw a card to stop Exodia and but can't keep skipping Seeker's turn and plays Lightforce Sword (illegally in both the anime and CG as one must set Trap Cards before activating them without another card effect saying otherwise), whose effect hits Exodia's Right Arm, leaving Seeker down to three in-hand Exodia pieces. Next he tributes Chimera for Summoned Skull (2500) in Attack Mode and destroys Seeker's last monster.

It's a whole new game, or so Yami thinks as Seeker draws and plays Swords of Revealing Light, preventing Yami's attacks for three turns.

Yami draws and passes. Seeker draws a 2nd Exodia's head and Yami reveals the flaw behind his Exodia deck, then sets 1 card face down and summons Alpha the Magnet Warrior (1400) in Attack Mode, knowing full well that SoRL is a weak and temporary shield. Seeker draws and plays Exodia the Forbidden One (1000) in Defense Mode, just as Yami wanted and Yami activates Chain Destruction, destroying all copies of Exodia's head in Seeker's hand and Deck (why didn't Seeker play his Giant Soldier of Stone card we see at 10:51 into the episode shown at far right?). Oops! At 11:04 into the US episode, Giant Soldier of Stone is on Yami's Duel Disk next to Alpha the Magnet Warrior and should be Summoned Skull! Yami also activates Dust Tornado, destroying SoRL. Then he uses Monster Reborn on Chimera (2100) in Attack Mode. and attacks, destroying Seeker's Exodia head and winning the duel (with Summoned Skull powering up Alpha's ATK by 200, which isn't true in the CG and Yami could've instead attacked with Alpha to destroy Exodia's Head and win the duel without that silly ATK bonus).

Seeker is left motionless on the ground and Yami looks through the Exodia deck, finding Joey's Red-Eyes B. Dragon and all the marked cards (why would Seeker put REBD in his deck? Not like he'd want to or have any real chance to play it or anything) and shreds Seeker's deck of cards. After that, CM gains control, explaining about his Millennium Item and its powers by giving Seeker some rather unusual dance moves and revealing his name as Marik. When asked, he repeats much of what he said to Yugi through Bandit Keith and Yami learns a bit about the Egyptian God Cards. He warns that Yami's reign is coming to an end and releases his grip on Seeker. Yami attempts to give Joey his REBD card but Joey declines, saying it isn't his to take and the two have a long conversation about Rare Hunters before the duo handshake and go their separate ways with Joey mentally warning Marik that the two of them are coming.
