Episode 48: Dungeon Dice Monsters (3)

With a crowd watching the match due to Duke's live broadcast, Tea` declares that she isn't housebreaking him (well you don't have to since he's Duke's temporary dog). Yami gains the info he needs via his help screen (which wouldn't tell me everything I needed because there aren't any words and all I'd get is Magic Crests have something to do with Thunderball or vice-versa). Using Thunderball's ability, Yami takes out both Gator Dragon and Blast Lizard. Solomon notices the crowd and goes to see what his competition is up to and upon falling in love with the size of the screen (even though it's broken up into a grid) he sees Yami and friends there too but is criticized by the crowd and forced to stand lower.

Back at the game, with Duke not convinced of Yami's legit victory over Pegasus, he puts his newly rolled Magic Crests in his Crest Pool. As for Yami, he rolls two Summon Crests and a Movement Crest (though shown at 4:48 into the US episode, it's a Summon, Magic and Movement Crest respectively). With his result, Yami unlocks the Knight of Twin Swords but not within striking distance and Duke concludes that you can't teach an old dog new tricks (even though Joey is technically a new dog). Duke rolls a pair of Summoning Crests and brings out Battle Ox (20/20/20) in Attack Mode (and its 20 ATK points comes from after you hear about the monster's ability and subtracting the 10 point bonus). Since he's attacking a Warrior-type creature, it gets a 10 point bonus to 30 ATK points but Yami puts his monster in Defense Mode and keeps him on the board even after the damage puts his monster down to 10 Hit Points.

For his turn, Yami uses his Knight's ability to use two attack crests and hit Battle Ox twice, destroying it. Duke is far from impressed, explaining that Yami can't advance his Dungeon Path any further since players' paths cannot cross but Yami could have his monsters move into Duke's territory but his monsters would be creamed. Duke latest trio of dice includes a rare black die and the result is a pair of Summoning Crests that unlock the Warp Vortex, which allows monsters to jump into it and reappear wherever the 2nd WV is. Yami's roll brings out Strike Ninja, whose effect lets him move three square for each Movement Crest. Duke's roll does not summon the 2nd roll but to Yami's surprise he gets a black die amongst his next three dice and summons the 2nd WV where his SN runs through and takes out Ryu-Kishin once in Duke's territory.

Duke is frustrated that Yami got a rare black die and that his Strike Ninja needs little more than a Movement Crest to attack. Oops! At 15:12 into the episode, Strike Ninja is represented by BN, which is Black Ninja, his Japanese translated name! SN moves in and takes out one of Duke's Heart Points, leaving him with 2. It's been so long since Duke lost a Heart Point so Yami should give himself a pat on the back but Duke guarantees it won't happen again and summons Orgoth the Relentless (20/20/50) in Attack Mode. His attack fails as Yami used his SN's ability to dodge the attack with one Trap Crest in his Crest Pool. He's making Duke look like a novice at his own game! Yami takes his turn by taking out another one of Duke's Heart Points. Duke attacks for his turn and Yami can't save his Ninja this time. He's gotten closer than anyone else but now he's at a dead end!
