Episode 37: Match of the Millennium - Yugi vs. Pegasus (3)

At the duel, Yu-Gi-Oh is trapped. His monsters will either get fossilized in Defense Mode or destroyed in Attack Mode. He tries playing Dark Magician (2500) in Attack Mode in combination with Magical Hats but Pegasus just needs to read his mind to find out where DM is hiding. Tea`'s words give Yugi an idea as he and Yu-Gi-Oh feel Pegasus coming. Yugi's idea is to switch minds back and forth, keeping their thoughts separate, even from each other. Pegasus attacks an empty hat and learns that Yugi has no idea where the Dark Magician hides. Setting 1 card face down, he urges Pegasus to try and find out what it is, if he can. Sure enough, Pegasus has no idea because Yugi Muto isn't there. Each time Pegasus will try and read their mind, they'll mind shuffle.

Down below, Tristan realizes that what happened before may not have been a dream after all as Bakura's behavior is similar to that time. Bakura uses his Millennium Ring to unleash the Man-Eater Bug monster. Tristan, being a present-day human, doesn't share the same thrill of toying with other people but watches as Bakura brings out Morphing Jar to send the guards to the Graveyard where the group meets the Reaper of the Cards. Back at the duel, Pegasus has no interest in using his mind reading abilities when he has other skills for Yu-Gi-Oh to worry about. He attacks with Toon Summoned Skull again and is certain he got DM but is surprised when he didn't.

Yugi takes his turn by once again setting 1 card to end his turn. Pegasus becomes annoyed but draws, activating Magical Neutralizing Force (which ironically features Japanese writing on it), destroying all face up Spell Cards on Yu-Gi-Oh's field. (A similar card called Spell Shattering Arrow does this and also deals 500 damage to the opponent for each of their destroyed Spell Cards.) Yu-Gi-Oh doesn't have a plan to save his Dark Magician but Yugi does, activating Living Arrow to use MNF and destroy Toon World and Doppelganger.

Pegasus protests that his TSS' ATK isn't stopped (it would be in the CG) but Yugi also activates Mirror Force, taking out all of Pegasus' monsters and leaving Pegasus devastated. Croquet announces the current Life Point total, then regrets doing so. (According to Yu-jyo.net, Pegasus took damage equal to his destroyed Red Archery Girl's ATK of 1400, leaving him down to his current 600 LPs and not even the Japanese version seems to explain this another way, or it's not mentioned on the site. Seems like plausible theory but contradicts what I had thought earlier back in episode 5 of having damage calculation be done between the attacking monster and the other monsters. I could've been wrong there but I'm not sure.

Guess we may never know.) Pegasus now sees that Yu-Gi-Oh is a stronger duelist than he first thought and Yu-Gi-Oh's friends cheer his comeback. Back in the castle labyrinth, Bakura indicates that none of the guards are there anymore and has no patience for obstacles. Tristan doesn't want to know what happened to them but asks who Bakura is and what he wants but realizes from Bakura's answer that he wants Mokuba. Bakura demands Mokuba be handed over or Tristan will face the same fate as the guards. Pegasus and Yugi will finish their duel in the Shadow Realm and this time it's winner take all!
