Episode 34: Best of Friends, Best of Duelists (2)

Pegasus remarks on the (not-so-lovely) day for a duel. He thinks that he'll be the one to emerge victorious regardless of who wins here. Joey isn't surprised when Yu-Gi-Oh plays Dark Magician (2500) in Attack Mode and hides him with Magical Hats. Now that it's Joey's turn, he attacks an empty hat, then plays Garoozis (1800) in Attack Mode, hoping to draw out the Dark Magician. Oops! At 6:18 into the episode, Garoozis has disappeared! Instead of falling for Joey's ploy, Yu-Gi-Oh sets 1 card in his MH and ends his turn and this leaves Joey confused to the point of just attacking another empty hat.

Pegasus thinks it's just how life is and mentally talks about it with visions of his past. Back at the duel, Joey attacks (apparently they must've cut out Yu-Gi-Oh's turn or Yu-Gi-Oh did nothing on his turn because Joey already attacked), activating Yu-Gi-Oh's Spellbinding Circle card, lowering BSD's ATK by 700 to 2500. Joey can't risk both his monsters and switches Garoozis to Defense Mode, a nice change for Yu-Gi-Oh. Yu-Gi-Oh draws the card to defeat BSD, Book of Secret Arts and gives it to DM, raising its ATK and DEF by 300 to 2800 and 2400 respectively. His attack takes out BSD, leaving Joey down to 450 LPs. Joey plays Baby Dragon (1200) in Attack Mode and sets 1 card that Yu-Gi-Oh figures is Time Wizard. Yu-Gi-Oh attacks but Joey activates Kunai with Chain to stop the DM's attack to the watching trio up above's surprise. Even more surprising comes when Joey draws the one card that CAN end the duel, Time Wizard! Oops again! You can see a portion of Black/B. Skull Dragon's card above Time Wizard at 15:32 into the US episode when it should be Baby Dragon as BSD has already been destroyed!

Everyone waits in anticipation but it pays off for Joey and DM is down to just 100 ATK. Joey really IS going to win the duel and attacks but his attack is cancelled out as Yu-Gi-Oh plays Makiu the Magical Mist (The real card doesn't negate attacks), revealing that is DM has transformed into Dark Sage (2800) in Attack Mode and allows him to play Spell Cards during both players' turns (boy wouldn't that have been nice to have on the real card, which just lets you add a Spell Card from your Deck to your hand after succeeding with Time Wizard's effect, not bad but not as good either). Now in tears, Yu-Gi-Oh makes the hardest move of the duel, using Monster Reborn on BSD in Attack Mode. His attack wins the duel and while Tea` is left in tears, Pegasus mentally says to save the tears for when Yu-Gi-Oh faces him. The storm outside has cleared and Yu-Gi-Oh, now Yugi, says Joey should keep the prize money for his sister's operation. Joey is now the one in tears, saying to take down Pegasus.
