Episode 35: Match of the Millennium - Yugi vs. Pegasus (1)

Just outside the dueling room, Yugi scans through  his cards, remembering what his grandpa has taught him, then enters, surprised to see his friends there. He becomes Yu-Gi-Oh, then takes his spot in the arena. He's finally facing Pegasus and it will take all the knowledge he has and power in his cards but he WILL defeat him! The group, except for Bakura and Tristan, decide to go and get a better view. Tristan heads off to find Mokuba or Kaiba, which to Bakura isn't a bad idea. Yu-Gi-Oh presents his Glory of the King's Opposite Hand card and learns of the boundless possibilities for prizes it holds. The stakes are set and Pegasus' 5 men he talked to earlier in the season are watching and waiting for if Pegasus wins, the duel goes live.

Their decks are shuffled by their opponents, or at least Pegasus' deck is. Meanwhile, Tristan is maneuvering through the halls underneath the castle and discovers he isn't alone so he hides in a suit of armor (how he did that without making ANY noise is beyond me). Through the armor, he hears a conversation between two guards about Mokuba and their change in shifts. When they leave, he finds a dead end, or so he thinks as he trips and reveal a secret passageway. While he figures out where it might lead, the duel commences up above with Yu-Gi-Oh setting 1 card and 1 monster in Defense Mode for his turn. Pegasus sets 1 card too and plays Red Archery Girl (1500) in Defense Mode, already knowing full well that Yu-Gi-Oh has Beaver Warrior and Horn of the Unicorn face down in a plan for a combo attack.

Yu-Gi-Oh thinks it'd be nice to gain an early point advantage (except that RAG is in Defense Mode, which won't make a difference unless you had a monster like Enraged Battle Ox, which deals the extra damage to the opponent if attacking a Defense Position monster). He flip summons his face down Beaver Warrior (1200) to Attack Mode and activates his other hidden card, Horn of the Unicorn, giving it 700 ATK to 1900. He attacks but Pegasus activates Tears of a Mermaid, destroying HotU, leaving Beaver Warrior down to its original ATK. Next, Pegasus switches RAG to attack mode and takes out BW with it, leaving Yu-Gi-Oh down to 1800 LPs. He knows all about Yu-Gi-Oh: his hopes, dreams and even fears. What he fears most is Pegasus himself.

Down below, Tristan follows the stairs into the secret passage and finds a guard that sees no point in watching a lifeless child. The guard looks too late and takes a helmet to his head. Sure enough, Mokuba's body is there and Tristan finds the keys and tries to open the cell. Yu-Gi-Oh sets 1 monster to end his turn. Tristan's attempted bailing of Mokuba doesn't go unnoticed however as guards report the incident to Croquet, whom orders to secure the hallways. Bakura tunes into Croquet's call and Pegasus summons Ryu-Ran (2600) in Defense Mode, then switches RAG to Defense too. Oops! At 19:18 into the US episode, Ryu-Ran's card is shown in Attack Position at the far right! Tristan finds himself trapped in the halls as guards surround him. Pegasus reads Yu-Gi-Oh's mind to discover the cards he has and what he'll draw. With his Millennium Eye, he's unstoppable!
