Episode 16: The Scars of Defeat | |||
Inside the castle, Pegasus assures his men that he'll handle things. Meanwhile on a helicopter, Kaiba can't believe his men would turn on him from a single defeat but he himself is shaken up from that loss. He'll make those men regret double-crossing him! On the ground, while several others sleep, Yugi and Bakura discuss the bizarre behavior of Bakura's Millennium Ring that also occurred when Bakura first entered Yugi's class. While Bakura sleeps, Yugi wonders what the connection is with the Millennium Items and the tournament. They all awaken to a helicopter landing and Kaiba emerges from it, saying it's not a game to him. Yugi hands Kaiba his deck back before Kaiba walks away and Joey can't stand this at all. He pesters Kaiba to the point of agreeing to a duel, provided they both use his new dueling system. One set up, the duel begins with Kaiba playing Battle Ox (1700) in Attack Mode and its appearance shocks the group at how realistic it is. Joey brings out Armored Lizard (1500) in Attack Mode and it gets trashed, leaving Joey down to 1800 LPs. Joey brings out Flame Swordsman (1800) in Attack Mode but it too gets taken out as Yugi explains the Battle Ox's resistance to FIRE, leaving Joey down to 1600 Life Points. Kaiba plays Mystic Horseman (1300) in Attack Mode, then uses Polymerization to bring out Rabid Horseman (2000) in Attack Mode. Oops! At 11:57 into the episode, Kaiba has a dueling glove on! Joey isn't afraid and brings out Swamp Battleguard (1800) in Attack Mode, which, starts a series of events where Joey's monster loses in battle, bringing his score down further. The ones after are: Axe Raider (1700), Battle Steer (1800), Garoozis (1800) Smashing Rock (which we see is Rock Ogre Grotto and must've been extra because Joey doesn't take Battle Damage from the attack, which would've won Kaiba the duel) (800) and finally Rude Kaiser (1800), leaving his score down to 500 LPs. Joey brings out his Red-Eyes Black Dragon (2400) in Attack Mode and takes out RH, leaving Kaiba down to 1600 LPs. Red-Eyes is powerful (though vastly outdated) it pales in comparison to Kaiba's Blue-Eyes White Dragon (3000) in Attack Mode, which takes out Joey's Red-Eyes and wins the duel. His Duel Disk left Joey in a submissive state and that's how he intends to leave Pegasus. They need Kaiba's type of attitude to beat Pegasus. He created Duel Monsters (if only you knew what Yugi knows) and has mastered every strategy ever known! Kaiba remembers the finals of the Intercontinental Championship featuring Bandit Keith and Pegasus, whom intended on proving that a child could defeat him by calling over a boy and handing him instructions.
Confident, Bandit Keith plays Garnecia Elefantis (2400) in Attack Mode. The kid admits it's a good card but plays (what appears to be called Flying Elephant) (1850) in Attack Mode and concludes that he took all of Bandit Keith's LPs. (What? First of all, GE is stronger and therefore, Keith you shouldn't be impressed and being a Normal Monster it cannot possibly take out all of Bandit Keith's LPs.) Keith takes the note from the kid (which we don't get a chance to see for verification) and everything needed to win is there. Pegasus announces the kid now known as Sam as the winner. Yugi protests that it's no excuse to take out on them but both of them which each other luck on their quests. Pegasus can sense Kaiba but is he hunting Pegasus or the other way around? |
