Episode 143: The Future of Three Worlds
At the duel, Yuma has just destroyed Chaos Xyz Barian Hope and Nash is willing to make Yuma pay by activating Reincarnation of the Seven Emperors to reduce the damage to 0 by removing from play Barian Hope and all of its Xyz Materials, then Special Summon an Xyz Monster (specifically Rank 3 or lower) and deal Yuma damage equal to its ATK, choosing to bring out Black Ray Lancer (2100) in Attack Mode. In response, Yuma activates Utopia Beyond's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself, then banish itself and Special Summon Number 39: Utopia (2500) in Attack Mode. As a bonus, Yuma gets LPs equal to half its ATK, raising his score to 2450. (The real card simply gives you 1250 LPs, which is what Yuma got here.) It's enough for Yuma to survive the damage, leaving him down to 350 LPs, though Nash is looking worn out and sets 1 card to end his turn before reverting to his human form.
Yuma finds the two monsters as a fond memories of their past duels but Nash only remembers the pain from how much he carried Yuma through. Nash lightens up to note that he still considers Yuma a friend but has a job to do as leader of the Barians and thus cannot go back to how things were. Yuma recalls his encounter with the Door of Destiny and briefly wonders what he could've lost to gain ZEXAL but remembers the duel and knows he has to focus on that. Yuma draws and attacks Black Ray Lancer with Utopia but Nash is ready and activates Friller Rabca's effect from the Graveyard to remove itself from play, negate the attack and lower Utopia's ATK by 500 to 2000. (The real card's effect only works when a Fish, Sea Serpent, or Aqua-Type monster the owner controls is attacked.) Left with nothing else to do, Yuma sets 1 card to end his turn.
Nash is relieved that Yuma ended his turn and reverts back to his Barian form, ready to take down Astral World once and for all. Nash draws and plays Xyz Treasure to draw 1 card for each Xyz Monster in play and with two out, Nash draws twice. Next, since he played a Normal Spell, he Special Summons Big Jaws (1800) in Attack Mode. (The real card banishes itself after it attacks.) Then he plays Skull Kraken (600) in Attack Mode and uses his monsters as Xyz Materials for Submersible Carrier Aero Shark (1900) in Attack Mode. After that, he uses Aero Shark's efffect to detach an Xyz Material from itself and deal Yuma 400 damage for the lone card in his hand. (The real card deals 100 damage for each of your removed from play monsters.) In response, Yuma activates Damage Take-Over to reduce the damage to 0 and attach itself to Utopia as Xyz Material, lowering its ATK by 400 to 1600.
Nash decides to attack Utopia with Black Ray Lancer so Yuma uses Utopia's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself and negate the attack. However, Utopia has no Xyz Materials left so Nash attacks it with Aero Shark, leaving the duo down to just 50 LPs and letting both monsters survive as Aero Shark isn't a Number monster. (The real Utopia self-destructs if it is attacked without Xyz Material.) Nash sets 1 card to end his turn but while Yuma feels Nash is the best opponent he's ever faced, he concludes he's failed in his mission and run out of time. Tori yells at Yuma to keep dueling and Astral realizes how powerful it can be to convince people. It works and convinces Yuma that 10 sharks are better than one angry Tori. With that, the duo combine with ZEXAL, before drawing and playing Zexal Weapon - Sylphid Wing (800) in Attack Mode and equipping it to Utopia, raising its ATK by 800 to 2400.
The duo attacks but Nash activates Rebirth of the Seven Emperors to Tribute his monsers and return the Chaos Xyz Barian Hope (0000) that was removed from play from last turn in Attack Mode with 3 of the Chaos Xyz Monsters as Xyz Material, raising its ATK to 3000. However, since Nash Special Summoned an Xyz Monster, their Sylphid Wing gives Utopia 1600 ATK to 4000. The duo resume their attack but Nash counters with Draw of Fate to negate the attack, then force the three of them to draw 1 card and use it that turn, or lose the duel. Each of them uses their special draws and Yuma gets Double or Nothing!, which he uses on Utopia, doubling its ATK to 8000 and letting it attack again since its attack was negated. However, Yuma stop;s the attack and splits out of ZEXAL, having figured out what the Door of Destiny meant about losing what is most valuable. Defeating Nash would mean losing him forever and that's not what his dueling style was about and he would lose himself if he did that.
It leaves them with a dilemma that puts the fate of Astral World at stake. Yuma wants to keep dueling forever, even with 50 LPs. However, Yuma never said he wasn't attacking and resumes his attadk by making Sylphid Wing an Xyz Material, lowering its ATK to 5600. Regardless, Yuma activates Utopia's effect to negate the attack, leaving the others confused. In a surprising twist, Nash lightens up again and activates Glory of the Seven Emperors to attach the remaining Barian Xyz Monsters to Barian Hope as Xyz Material, raising its ATK to 7000. Plus Yuma takes the damage Nash would've taken, making Yuma and Astral realize that it was good they stopped the attack or they would've lost. Unfortunately, Glory of the Seven Emperors also makes Nash's LPs equal to the difference in Yuma's LPs, which is 0, costing Nash the duel. Reverting back to his human form, Nash realizes how good it felt to lose and lands on the ground.
Yuma runs to Nash's aid as Nash tries to get up and finds Yuma's strategy of dueling forever lame but that's what he likes about Yuma. Before Nash goes, he and Astral agree that they're both worthwhile opponents and Nash adds that Yuma will do well as long as he has faith in his friends and family. Yuma was a great duelist and an even better friend but Nash won't be around to see the future unfold and disappears in front of a teary-eyed Yuma and friends. Not even sunlight peeking throught he clouds cheers Yuma up as he cries out to Nash.
