Episode 85: Counter Offensive (1)
While the famed singer sings for the umpteenth time, Girag and Alito discuss their final chance to succeed where Alito is going to duel Yuma and Astral face-to face and doesn't care what Girag says. After he heads off, Girag smashes the TV knowing that Alito will be sorry if he loses this duel. Meanwhile, Yuma is still eating even though he's going to be late for school and finishes before bolting out the door, leaving Kari astonished at how much Yuma can eat. As Yuma races ahead, Ray catches up before they run into a crowd of Barian-infected students, each of which is ready to duel. Yuma bolts and drags Ray away while we see that Girag is behind the crowd of corrupted students. Inside the school, Tori is walking the halls when Rio gets her attention and they strike up a brief conversation before Rio senses more danger. Sure enough, Yuma and Ray find themselves with nowhere to go and need help.
Luckily, Shark, Tori and Rio appear to help out and the group have some success before Ray falls under Barian's power. Girag doesn't hold back and orders the entire crowd to attack at once. However, Alito appears and intercepts with Lightning Clinch to pay 3000 LPs and negate all attacks, bringing him down to 1000. Next he draws and uses Brain Reboot to return all of the Barians' monsters back to their hand win the duel (as it deals the opponent 500 damage per returned monster but they don't tell you that.) How could Alito betray Barian World? He wants to duel Yuma for himself and knows that Yuma is a great duelist. Now away from the crowd, Alito and Yuma agree to duel for the same risks. Duel preparations get underway, including the Sphere Field before Alito draws and summons Battlin' Boxer Headgeared (1000) in Attack Mode.
Next he Special Summons Battlin' Boxer Sparrer (1200) in Attack Mode since he controls a Battlin' Boxer monster. With that, he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Battlin' Boxer Lead Yoke (2200) in Attack Mode before setting 3 cards to end his turn. Yuma and Astral will need to take it up a notch since the stakes are higher. Yuma draws and summons Gagaga Magician (1500) in Attack Mode. Next, since he controls a Level 4 Gagaga monster, he Special Summons Gagaga Child (800) in Attack Mode and uses its effect to make it Level 4. (The real GC just needs you to control a Gagaga monster except another copy of itself to Special Summon it by its effect.) Now he uses his two monsters as Xyz Material for Number 39: Utopia (2500) in Attack Mode.
Finally, he sets 3 cards to end his turn but not before Alito activates his hidden Overlay Flash to detach an Xyz Material from Lead Yoke and negate Utopia's effects. As a result, since Lead Yoke lost an Xyz Material, it gains 800 ATK to 3000. Alito draws and attacks with Lead Yoke but Yuma is ready with Battle Rush to prevent Utopia's destruction in battle and deal any battle damage he would've taken to Alito but Alito activates Fancy Footwork to negate BR since it's activated during the Battle Phase. Regardless, Yuma counters with Xyz Strike to negate FF since it's being activated when 2 Xyz Monsters are battling. However, Alito activates Counter Clash to negate XS' effect and destroy it since it's activated during the Battle Phase and double any Battle Damage Yuma receives.
With that, Alito's attack resumes and Utopia is destroyed, leaving Yuma down to 3000 LPs. The last attack reminded Yuma and Astral of how alike Alito is to Yuma and since Alito is done with his turn, Yuma draws and activates Xyz Revenge to Special Summon Number 39: Utopia from his Graveyard since his opponent's Xyz Monster has an Xyz Material and give Utopia Lead Yoke's last Xyz Material, raising Lead Yoke's ATK to 3800. However, Yuma is ready and also activates Fiery Ferver to double Utopia's ATK to 5000 since Alito's monster gained ATK. His attack takes out Lead Yoke to bring Alito down to 2800 LPs but it's not over yet. Astral is interested to see how things play out from here but the Sphere Field is draining his energy right when Yuma will need Astral most!
