Episode 140: A Sight Unseen (2)

At the duel site, SK takes his turn by playing O - Oversoul to revive Avian (1000) in Attack Mode, then tributes it for Evil Hero Malicious Edge (2600) in Attack Mode, explaining that EHME only needs one tribute (if the opponent controls a monster but this isn't mentioned yet is the case here. I'd also like to note that for this part of the duel, SK has 100 more LPs than he should have, resulting in a totally different scenario if the LP change were done). He uses it to take out Jim's monster and leave him down to 750 LPs. Meanwhile, two of the villagers are running and the smaller one falls but gets back up and the duo encounter Syrus, whom warns them of the danger they're in. Not far off, a Goblin Attack Force discuss the rumors of a duelist that challenged the Supreme King to a duel. Syrus shows the duo a path they should take, then says he has to get to the king's tower.

At the dueling site, the last attack has left Jim on the ground but he slowly gets up as SK tells Jim he should've stayed down and will get pain if that's what he desires. Jim draws and activates a Field Spell called Sacred Defense Barrier, then summons Uluru's Guardian (2300), whose effect prevents it from being destroyed in battle from one attack since SDB is out. SK draws and attacks, fully aware of the Field Spell Jim played, explaining EHME's other effect dealing piercing Battle Damage if its attack target is in Defense Mode, leaving Jim with 450 LPs. Jim wants Jaden to at least listen to his voice before setting 1 card to end his turn. SK plays Evil Hero Infernal Gainer (1600) in Attack Mode and attacks, taking out UG to leave Jim with a sparse 150 LPs. SK's next attack with EHIG is blocked as Jim activates Uluru the Guardian Spirit, becoming a Trap Monster with 2500 DEF since UG is in his Grave. However, SK uses EHIG's effect to remove it from play for 2 turns and allow EHME to attack again, destroying UGS and leaving Jim's score down to just 50 LPs and Jim himself back on the ground.

Elsewhere, Syrus and Ojama Yellow are approaching the SK's castle entrance. Axel figures he'll have to step up and duel SK if Jim loses. Still face down in the dirt, Jim remembers another moment he had at DA.

It's enough to awaken him and bring him back to his feet and resume the duel by playing Fossil Hammer, destroying SK's highest level monster and letting SK bring back a monster with a lower level from his Grave. EHME is destroyed Avian takes his place. (Why not Burstinatrix? She's also a lower level and has more ATK.) Next, Jim plays

Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo (1200) in Attack Mode and takes out Avian to leave SK with 1650 LPs. Due to Pachycephalo's ability, it goes to Defense Mode and gains DEF equal to the DEF of the monster it destroyed, putting it at 2300 DEF. (The real card prevents Special Summons and destroys all Special Summoned monsters once flipped face up.) SK uses Dark Fusion to bring out Evil Hero Lightning Golem (2400) in Attack Mode and uses its effect, letting SK destroy 1 monster, which doesn't work on FDP by SDB's effect, then decides to attack and take out FDP. Jim draws and activates Miracle Rupture to send 1 Rock-Type monster from his Deck to his Grave, shuffle, then draw another card. He plays the card he draws called Gaia Plate the Earth Giant (2800) in Attack Mode and its effect halves EHLG's ATK to 1200. He then takes out to leave SK tied with Jim's score. (The real Gaia Plate must remove from play a Rock-Type monster to keep itself on the field.) SK doesn't give in to Jim's words and draws. Since it's been 2 turns after EHIG was removed from play, it comes back. Next, he uses Super Polymerization by discarding Fake Hero and using both monsters on the field as Fusion Material for Evil Hero Dark Gaia
(????) in Attack Mode, whose ATK becomes equal to the combined ATKs of its Fusion Materials for a total of 4400 ATK, enough to leave Axel to tumble to the ground in fear. SK's direct attack is successful and both Shirley, whom tries to defend Jim, and Jim himself get sent to the stars but not before Jim tells Axel to find away to save Jaden. Totally covered in fear, Axel darts off as SK heads back inside.
