Episode 141: What Lies Beneath (1)

During the night, a Goblin Elite Attack Force arrives at a mansion where Aster is staying in and they question him about duelists being inside. Aster insists there are none and allows them entry. The GEAF army finds it odd for someone to live in a place this large alone but who said Aster was alone? Aster shows them where another person is and locks him inside the room, where there is indeed another duelist and it's Zane. They duel and Aster shows another GEAF member just what's going on. At their own duel, Zane uses Polymerization to bring out Cyber End Dragon (4000) in Attack Mode. The GEAF member begs not to be sent to the stars and tells what little he saw of the Supreme King's deck.

At the other duel, Aster's GEAF dueling opponent exposes SK's plans and where to go from here. Afterwards, both GEAF members are sent to the stars from their opponents' attacks. Aster mentions a camp and the two head off. Meanwhile, Axel is running through a forest of trees with the haunting memory of SK. We find it was all a dream as Axel awakens and pulls a sheet over his head, cowering under the table. He sets his Duel Disk on a table and leaves with Syrus and Ojama Yellow watching nearby.

A duel spirit approaches, rather two as we see Dancing Fairy along with the woman dressed as Maiden of the Aqua. Syrus explains to her that he's looking for a friend he lost but knows where they can find a hero. Axel dodges being caught by the GEAF army before encountering the same duel spirits Syrus saw but would rather be left alone as he wanders through the town ruins, dodging another pack of duel spirits set free by the GEAF army. As the spirits disappear, Axel decides it's time for him to be a hero and darts off. When he encounters the spirits again, they hand him his Duel Disk, explaining that Syrus gave it to them. However, being FIRE monsters on both Axel's end and with the spirits attacking, things only get worse until Maiden of the Aqua uses her powers to make water that is enough to aid Axel in taking the fiery spirits down. Axel again insists he's no hero and orders them to leave before telling Syrus that he shouldn't have given the spirits his Duel Disk. Syrus says he can still see the duelist inside Axel because he believes in him.

Elsewhere, Aster and Zane are approaching the Prison Camp and encounter many Duel Disks along the way. They reach the gate and summon their monsters to blast through. Axel arrives inside the town in time to see villagers being ordered to keep working and more duel monster spirits arrive, ordering them to stop their arguing, then suggest Axel become the town's leader before heading off again, discussing how well their plan went and we see that Ancient Brain, the one with Guardian of the Labyrinth whose shield talks, is really Skull Knight. Axel enters, overhearing their conversation and isn't willing to allow them to see if their plan worked. Skull Knight says he'll have to duel for that right but figures Axel is too scared after running away from the SK. Axel isn't running away and challenges Skull Knight to a duel.
