Episode 110: Primal Instinct

Inside his room, Axel makes a meal out of plenty of burgers and what looks to be orange juice. If he doesn't get his energy back after this, they've got problems. He has never gotten this run down after a duel. Just outside, Adrian wonders why everyone thinks out loud at DA, then figures he knows what's causing Axel's sudden fatigue and he bets it's just the beginning. Back at the hospital, Hassleberry asks for a bite but Jaden isn't willing to give him any. Alexis suggests Jaden come up for air but again Jaden isn't listening. Ms Fontane comes in, saying Jaden should be fine according to their latest test results but she orders Jaden not to do anything strenuous, just as Jaden swallows two trays worth of hospital food at once. Is eating considered strenuous? Before we get an answer, Jaden bolts out the door with Syrus close behind. Ms Fontane tells Alexis and Blair that Jaden will be fine but he is not to duel for two weeks. Jaden is looking for a duel when Jesse shows up, telling about a rumor he heard about Jaden retiring dueling for good.

Hassleberry gets a bite in the rear from Shirley, Jim's pet crocodile. Jim shows them an instrument used to measure the vibrations in the atmosphere and they go off to find the source. Adrian says that the gig is up for Viper as Viper himself sees Jim on his camera, saying that he's found his next donor. Suddenly, Shirley starts growling so Jim covers her eyes with his bandana. Jim doesn't like the comment from Jaden about not being the time to speak Australian. Now it's Hassleberry's turn to go berserk and he takes after Jim personally. Jaden explains about Hassleberry's accident and possession of dino DNA so they decide to duel and Jim warns that he'll do whatever it takes to bring Hassleberry back to normal and isn't going to be responsible for Hassleberry's behavior. Speaking of Hassleberry, he starts the duel with Gilasaurus (1400) in Attack Mode. Oops! At 7:45 into the US episode, Gilasaurus is a Normal Monster!

Next he tributes it (not explaining that he used Gilasaurus' effect to make it a Special Summon) for Dark Driceratops (2400) in Attack Mode. Finally he sets 1 card to end his turn, still being angry. Jim thinks that to get to Hassleberry, he'll have to play a card that's as primitive as he is so he plays Flint Cragger (800) in Attack Mode and sends it to the Grave to deal Hassleberry 500 damage, leaving him with 3500 and Hassleberry himself speaking more normally again. Next Jim uses Fossil Fusion to remove from play both his monster and Hassleberry's monsters from the Grave for Fossil Dragon Skullgar (2500) in Attack Mode. Hassleberry decides to attack and right as he thinks his monster has won it gets destroyed leaving his score at 3400. He tells Jim that dino DNA can't be found in some textbook and draws, playing Babycerasaurus (500) in Attack Mode. Jim ponders what Hassleberry is up to and finds out soon enough as Hassleberry plays Jurassic World, giving his Babycerasaurus 300 ATK, putting it at 800. Next he activates Volcanic Eruption, destroying all monsters on the field. Oops! It destroys all cards on the field because Jim's face down cards and Jurassic World are destroyed as well! Because his Cerasaurus was destroyed, he can play Sabersaurus (1900) in Attack Mode.

Jim plays Dowsing Burn, bringing back one of Hassleberry's monsters and destroying Hassleberry's current monster. Next he plays Sample Fossil (????) in Attack Mode and uses its effect to bring Sabersaurus back as a fossil and absorb its ATK, putting its own ATK at 1900. Then he attacks Hassleberry directly with it, putting Hassleberry's score at 1500. Hassleberry draws and plays Card of Variation, letting him draw 2 cards. (What they don't tell you is you'll have to discard 1 card during the End Phase or take 3000 damage, at least according to Wiki.) Then he uses Living Fossil to bring back Babycerasaurus , then tributes it using Big Evolution (Big Evolution Pill in the TCG), letting him play Dino-Type monsters without Tributes for 3 turns so he plays Brachion (1500) in Attack Mode. (Sauropod Brachion in the TCG). Next he uses Tail Swipe, returning Sabersaurus and Sample Fossil to the owners' hands and forcing Brachion to attack. (The real card doesn't force you to attack with any of your monsters.) Jim is impressed by this move as Hassleberry attacks directly, leaving Jim with 2500. Jim discards Sample Fossil to activate Specimen Inspection, forcing Hassleberry to pick a monster from his Deck and send it to the Graveyard and Hassleberry chooses Ultimate Tyranno. Next Jim uses another Fossil Fusion to remove it and his own Sample Fossil for Fossil Dragon Skullgios (3500) in Attack Mode. Hassleberry says that because there's a monster on Jim's field, Brachion goes to Defense Mode. (The real card doesn't.) He attacks, then stops to explain his monster's effect, dealing Hassleberry damage equal to his own monster's ATK of 1500 when his Fossil Dragon attacks a monster in Defense Mode, then lets the attack continue, destroying Brachion, winning the duel and causing their  Bio Bands to activate. The two of them collapse after a brief explanation from Jim as he thinks that the Bio Bands are the reason why the two of them are lacking energy. Back in his lair, Viper is welcoming the newly acquired energy but an alert pops up on his screen, showing Adrian and Viper says he's next.
