Episode 111: Head in the Clouds (1)

At the hospital, now Jim is in the same state Jaden was in the previous episode. The group remember what Jim had said about the weird energy, which Syrus claims he said but no one listens to him because he's just the sidekick for amusement.  Alexis brings them back to Jim's idea and suggests they confront Viper about it. Meanwhile, Crowler and Bonaparte get word from Ms Fontane about the inconclusive tests she has done. Crowler's no Viper fan but he figures that more discipline is just what they need. Bonaparte isn't liking the idea at all and he actually cares about the students. Viper enters, saying that if he actually cared he should stop sheltering them. It's his job to fix their mistakes. Ms Fontane questions Viper how he would do that and proposes he'd send them to the hospital. Viper has a meeting with a student so he walks away. Bonaparte heads out and the two of them share a Wizard of Oz reference at one another. Viper meets Adrian, warning him that he hasn't taken part in any survival duels. Adrian explains that he takes his dueling seriously and he just hasn't found the right opponent. Viper warns that he has until tomorrow night to duel or he's expelled.

Outside, Blair is chasing down Marcel and finally gets him to stop, insisting he eat.  Marcel wanted the food to go, after all he thought us Americans liked fast food but Blair doesn't find the joke funny (neither do I). Up in the vent shaft, Axel finds Viper's office and the info about where he's hiding. Once he's found it's game over for Viper! Just outside the Slifer Dorm, Alexis wonders what Jaden's going to wear tonight at the party, which Jaden wasn't invited to, from Adrian Geko. She figures it's only for Ra Yellow and Obelisk Blue but offers Jaden hers since she's not really into big parties anyway. Syrus suggests a Slifer Slumber Party but when Jaden starts adding in his ideas, the rest aren't so sure it's a good idea. Chazz decides to dig up some info on Adrian and is surprised to find out not only that Adrian is most famous in the world but that he himself cannot access some of the info. (Surprised they kept this because very little computer-related scenes were kept in the original dubbed Yu-Gi-Oh series, not even a computer keyboard.) Chazz doesn't care if he's richer, he himself is good at playing card games and that's what life is about. (Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged reference perhaps?) Ojama Yellow warns that Chazz might pop a blood vessel, which Chazz claims he'll just buy another one.

At the party, Blair again coerces Marcel to eat but once the prize is revealed, she wants to duel him instead. (Not sure the Geko family would've wanted their families' most prized possession to be given away but whatever.) The duels get under way (I won't mention what cards were played because you don't know who played them and they only appear once.) Adrian says that Viper will now put the whole school at risk. He ponders whom to duel as he steps outside the Obelisk Blue dorm and Chazz makes it really easy as he and Adrian are airlifted into the sky. Jaden and his group see the duel. Chazz then comments on how little he thinks Adrian knows about style. Adrian figures Viper is frantically powering down his Bio-Band system. He wants the duel to start quickly so he doesn't have to hear as much bad dialogue. (Chazz isn't to blame for this, Adrian, 4Kids is.) The duel gets underway as Adrian plays Lucky Cloud, letting him draw twice if he draws 2 monsters with the same name (Oops, it actually lets you draw 2 cards if you summon two monsters with the same name!) Next he plays Summon Cloud, letting him play two Cloudian - Sheep Clouds (0000 x2) in Defense Mode. (The real card only lets you play 1 "Cloudian" monster per turn.) Chazz plays Different Dimension Hangar, letting him remove from play 3 Union Monsters, then bring one of them back when he plays a monster. Oops! At 16:10 into the US episode, Z Metal Tank is shown as a Normal Monster!

He then summons V-Tiger Jet (1600) in Attack Mode, then Special Summons W-Wing Catapult (1300) in Attack Mode and combines them for VW-Tiger Catapult (2000) in Attack Mode and uses its effect to discard X-Head Cannon to switch one of the Sheep Clouds to Attack Mode. With Premature Burial, he brings back X-Head Cannon (1800) in Attack Mode, dropping his score to 3200. Due to DDH's effect, he brings back Y-Dragon Head (1500) and Z-Metal Tank (1500) both in Attack Mode, then combines them for XYZ-Dragon Cannon (2800) in Attack Mode. He attacks, destroying the Sheep Cloud and leaving Adrian with 1200 as Adrian used Summon Cloud's effect to Special Summon 4 Sheep Tokens (Cloudian Tokens with the real card's effect) (0000 x4) in Attack Mode. Chazz combines his two monsters for VWXYZ-Dragon Catapult Cannon (3000) in Attack Mode. The group have to explain to Jesse about Chazz's catchphrase and life. Chazz sets 1 card to end his turn. Oops! At 20:03 into the episode, it's XYZ's card on Chazz's Duel Disk instead of VWXYZ's card in the US! Chazz ponders how Adrian can be so calm. Adrian thinks that he predicts a major disturbance in the air.
