Episode 199: Tomb of the Nameless Pharaoh

We find Bakura being chased by his dark half, whom is waiting for him in a church and reminds Bakura of the mission they must complete but Bakura doesn't comply yet Dark Bakura isn't giving him a choice and begins taking him over. The new intro shows new people likely from ancient Egypt as well as some monsters now with sound effects added and the clips of Joey, Tristan and Tea` from the first half of the season are reused but the subtitle "Dawn of the Duel" is there below the logo. We move to ancient Egypt where three men, of which one is Solomon when he was younger and using the name "Dr Muto" on the brink of finding the Pharaoh's tomb and speaking of Solomon, he's telling this story. With Midnight upon them, the group head out to find the Pharaoh's tomb.

Now inside, they find bodies of previous explorers from at least 5000 years ago. The other two, of which one is revealed as Ahmed finds the eyes of snakes being jewels and is ready to take them but Dr. Muto stops them and shows what was hidden within the Snake statues. They arrive at what seems like a dead end until Dr. Muto uncovers the hidden message using flame from his torch and the hidden entrance to the Pharaoh's tomb. Once inside, the group find a seemingly easy maze and Ahmed and his friend devise a plan that ends up having his friend trigger two spiky traps.

Dr. Muto begins running when one of the statues begins moving, slashing through the air with its swords. He starts backing away and the statue stops. He takes another step and the statue moves again, leaving him to realize that they must walk with their left foot forward. Dr Muto makes it and now Ahmed and his friend begin but his friend becomes frightened and ends up putting his right foot forward, leaving the statue to slash at him and send him to the shadowy depths below, (which at 10:35 into the Japanese episode, it's just solid black, making me wonder why they decided to change it) leaving only Ahmed to travel the maze. They both make it and encounter the next message before entering to find a seemingly easy path to the Pharaoh's treasure. As Dr. Muto crosses, Ahmed fires a slingshot (which is a gun in the Japanese episode), leaving Dr. Muto nearly fall off the "bridge".

Ahmed goes to claim his prize but the monster he steps on last swallows him whole, leaving Dr. Muto to barely hold on until the Pharaoh himself brings him back up and disappears. The Pharaoh's treasure is obtained by Dr. Muto and is now Yugi's Millennium Puzzle. Yugi wants to know all about that place before he heads out but Solomon warns not to go in there and requests seeing the God Cards for the sixth time and is granted that wish for a mere few seconds and denied being able to take care of them (especially since last time, they were stolen while you were watching over them). Before he departs for the night, Solomon tells Yugi to treat every challenge like a game.

As Yugi sleeps, Rex and Weevil are up on the roof in the pouring rain and smash the window, allowing them to take the duffel bag on Yugi's bed and run for it.

Yugi darts after them, knowing that in the wrong hands the whole world could be in danger. Rex and Weevil find a spot with no one around and open the duffel bag to find the Millennium Items instead of the God Cards and Dark Bakura is standing by after the Millennium Ring returns to him and takes them out with its powers. Yugi arrives but if he thinks it's Bakura, he'd better guess again!
