Episode 98: Power Plays
The crowd cheers as the MC announces the start of the World Racing Grand Prix. Meanwhile, Lester is also excited that the tournament has begun so their Grand Design can be realized. Inside, Luna notes that Andre from Team Unicorn is dueling first with a Power Deck and learns that Team 5Ds is using the same kind of Deck, having Jack go first, then Akiza. Jack and Andre take their positions at the starting line while Jean wishes them luck and feels bad for Crow's accident. The match is sure to be a classic and everything is going according to Team Unicorn's script. Crow can't make heads or tails of Jean's parting words but Jack figures Team Unicorn is just scared and that their feelings link up with their fears.
After duel preparations take place, both duelists take off and Andre shows how much more power his Duel Runner has to Jack's, recalling how it all went down. Since Andre took the curve first, he draws and summons Uni-Horned Familiar (1000) in Defense Mode. Then he removes from play Speed Spell - End of Storm to play Monoceros (1000) in Defense Mode. To Team 5Ds' surprise, Andre sets 2 cards to end his turn. Yusei is uncertain why Andre didn't Synchro Summon and that's what worries him. Jack draws and Special Summons Vice Dragon (2000) in Attack Mode, by its effect, which also halves its ATK to 1000. Next he summons Dark Resonator (1300) in Attack Mode and uses it (which is also a Tuner but they don't tell you that) and VD as Synchro Material for Red Dragon Archfiend (3000) in Attack Mode. His attack prompts Andre to use UHF's effect to remove Monoceros from play to remove itself from play too and force RDA to attack.

As a result, Andre then activates Different Dimension Barrier - Lost Force to make Jack take the damage instead, leaving Jack down to 1000 LPs. Jack sets 3 cards to end his turn and Breo is seeing that Jean's strategy is flawless thus far. Andre draws and returns UHF to the field by its effect. Next he returns Monoceros to the field to Special Summon Unicorn Knight (D.D. Unicorn Knight in the CG) (1800) in Attack Mode. (The real UK/DDUK can only be brought out if your opponent controls a monster and you control a Tuner monster.) Next he uses UHF and Monoceros as Synchro Material for Thunder Unicorn (2200) in Attack Mode. Due to TU's effect, it can lower RDA by 500 points per non-Thunder Unicorn on the field and since Uni-Horned Familiar was Synchro Material with another Beast-Type monster, Andre Special Summons itself and RDA loses 1000 ATK to 2000. (The real TU has this effect but is the only monster that can attack the turn its effect is used.) His attack with TU takes out RDA and leaves Jack down to 800.
Bruno then notices a problem with Jack's Duel Runner and after Andre sets 1 card to end his turn, agrees to flag Jack down for a pitstop but Jack ignores it and draws. He summons out Mad Archfiend (1800) in Attack Mode, then uses Powerful Rebirth to revive Dark Resonator in Attack Mode as a Level 4 monster with 1400 ATK and 400 DEF. Then he uses Rage Resynchro to send his monsters to the Graveyard to Special Summon Red Dragon Archfiend with 500 more ATK to 3500. He attacks but Andre activates Dimension Trap to remove from play his UHF on his field and DDB-LF in his Grave to have it gain the effect of DDB-LF and deal Jack damage equal to RDA's ATK. Furthermore, he uses  Overpower to negate the effect of DDB-LF since it's negating a monster's attack and destroy it.
Then he resumes his attack on TU, destroying it and leaving Andre down to 2700 LPs. It now occurs to Team 5Ds that Team Unicorn isn't using a Power Deck and that they've been played upon from the get-go. Worse still, Andre knew Jack would counter his moves and activates Parallel Select (Parallel Selection in the CG) to retrieve his removed from play End of the Storm (rather End of Storm) card. Andre draws and uses Speed World 2's effect to deal 800 damage per Speed Spell in his hand to Jack since he himself has 4 Speed Counters. Everyone watches in horror as Jack crashes. Will he be okay?
