| Episode 75: Acceleration | |||
|
Inside the garage, Yusei and Crow are finished with their new Duel Runner made
for Akiza as we find she's wanted to join them. At the DMV for dueling, Akiza
isn't thinking about the World Racing Grand Prix and instead is focused on her
task at hand. However, a trio of punks appear and mock Akiza before the four of
them are called to the track to show them their skills. None of them are able to
take part without crashing so Yusei brings her to a different track.
Nevertheless, Akiza isn't doing much better after multiple tries but eventually
succeeds and Yusei adjusts the runner's handling ability back in the garage. The
next day, Akiza passes to qualify for the next step but one of the men is going
to try and make sure she gets no further. Later, Yusei decided to add one last trick to make sure Akiza is ready for just about anything but it proves to be harder than it looks and Akiza crashes. Yusei brings her to a roller rink to use as a guide, which is enough to help her master it in that way but Luna and Leo conclude that the two are on a date not one coaching the other. Later, Akiza arrives to see that her previous Duel Runner has been drastically updated and takes it to the final exam the next day. The group get a shock that Offer Trudge is the one handing out the licenses and taking part in the exam. The exam begins and after some hesitation, Akzia draws and plays Revival Rose (1300) in Defense Mode. The group realizes that she's more nervous than previously thought when she attempts to activate Speed Spell - Summon Speeder without having any Speed Counters and is denied. With nothing else to do, she ends her turn so Trudge draws and plays Stygian Street Patrol (1600) in Attack Mode. His attack with it takes out RR and leaves Akiza down to 3600 by its effect. He sets 1 card to end his turn but the extra assaults from Trudge don't scare Akiza as she draws and plays Twilight Rose Knight (1000) in Attack Mode. Next she uses its effect to Special Summon Lord Poison (1500) in Attack Mode by its effect. Then, since TRK is a Tuner, she uses her monsters as Synchro Material for Black Rose Dragon (2400) in Attack Mode. Her attack takes out SSP and leaves Trudge down to 3200 but Trudge activates Final Penalty to deal Akiza half of his destroyed monster's ATK to her and destroy her attacking monster, leaving Akiza defenseless down to 2800 LPs. However, Akiza uses RR's effect to Special Summon itself in Defense Mode since her monster was destroyed. Trudge isn't worried and uses his SSP's effect to remove itself from play and Special Summon another copy since it has less than 2000 ATK (though they don't tell you that). Then he plays Stygian Security (100) in Attack Mode and uses it and SSP as Synchro Material (as SS is a Tuner but they don't tell you that either) for Stygian Sergeants (2200) in Attack Mode. His attack destroys RR but lets it gain 800 ATK 3000 and attack again. Since she's being attacked directly, Akiza uses Offensive Guard to halve the attacking monster's ATK and draw 1 card, leaving her down to 1300 LPs. Trudge isn't done yet and uses Speed Spell - Speed Demon to deal Akiza 1000 damage since he has 3 Speed Counters, leaving Akiza down to 300 LPs. After Trudge sets 1 card to end his turn, Akiza draws and plays Witch of the Black Rose (1700) in Attack Mode and uses its effect to draw Dark Verger but Trudge activates Climactic Barricade to prevent it from attacking and deal Akiza 500 damage for each Level 4 or lower monster on her field. Akiza isn't done as she uses Speed Spell - Summon Speeder to Special Summon Dark Verger (0000) in Attack Mode since she has 4 Speed Counters. Then she uses her monsters as Synchro Material (since WotBR is a Tuner but once again they don't tell you)for Splendid Rose (2200) in Attack Mode. Next she uses its effect to remove from play a Plant-Type monster in her Grave to halve the ATK of Trudge's SS to 1100. Her attack with it destroys SS and leaves Trudge down to 2100 LPs. Next, she activates Blossom Bombardment to deal half the ATK of the destroyed monster, leaving Trudge down to 1000. The thugs from before decide for payback and trigger a collapse of the shelving containing all the pipes, forcing Akiza to dodge each one successfully to everyone's surprise. Next she uses SR's effect to remove from play another Plant-Type monster in her Grave to let it attack a second time with half its ATK. The attack is successful and Akiza passes while Jack takes care of the thugs. Akiza is thrilled to be a Turbo Duelist while Sherry just feet away realizes that the pieces are coming together. |
