Episode 72: French Twist (2)
At what was once the duel, Sherry explains that she wants Yusei on her team so they can win the World Racing Grand Prix. They agree to continue the Turbo Duel and Yusei draws before playing Turbo Synchron (100) in Attack Mode. Next he uses his monsters as Synchro Material for Turbo Warrior (2500) in Attack Mode. Then he uses Turbo Warriors's effect to halve Chevalier de Fleur's ATK to 1350 since its Level is higher. His attack doesn't destroy CdF as Sherry activates For Our Dreams to prevent its destruction by sending a monster on her field to the Graveyard, dropping her score to 2750.
Nevertheless, CdF regains its full ATK afterwards and Yusei uses Synchro Out to swap TW for Junk Warrior and Turbo Synchron, leaving Sherry to believe that Yusei should've known that CdF's effect would negate any card used. As expected, Yusei attempts to use Urgent Tuning but it gets negated by CdF's effect. Furthermore, Sherry activates Chain Close to prevent Yusei from using any Spell Cards this turn. (It also prevents them from using Trap Cards.) Yusei was ready for this and attacks with Turbo Synchron, putting CdF into Defense Mode and leaving his score down to 100. Furthermore, Yusei can now Special Summon a monster with ATK equal to or less than the damage he took and brings out Junk Collector (1000) in Attack Mode. Next he uses JC's effect to remove UT from play to activate its effect and Synchro Summon TW again. His attack takes out CdF and Akiza realizes that the way he duels Sherry is different, more like when he duels Jack or Crow.
Yusei is at the brink of defeat so Sherry just needs a Speed Spell to use Speed World 2's effect and deal 800 damage to Yusei but her draw yields her Sacred Knight's Shield-Bearer (1300)  in Defense Mode. However, she uses Shieldbearer's effect to remove from play Horse the Floral Knight in her Grave to draw another card. It's not a Speed Spell so she sets 1 card to end her turn. What brings Yusei to the WRGP? The same reason people climb mountains but Sherry is driven by revenge and explains through her past of how things went from pleasant to terrible because of one company wanting to buy her father's but it's all really because of a group called Illyaster, which is familiar to Yusei and Akiza.
Yusei uses Speed World 2's effect to remove 7 Speed Counters and draw 1 card. Next he summons Drill Synchron (800) in Attack Mode and takes out SKS, leaving Sherry down to 1550 LPs by DS' first effect and letting Yusei draw 1 card by its second effect. This prompts Sherry to activate Freedom Release (Liberty at Last! in the CG) to return both monsters on Yusei's field to his Deck. Yusei sets 2 cards to end his turn, not willing to give up just yet. Sherry draws and plays Sacred Knight Joan (Noble Knight Joan in the CG) (1900) in Attack Mode. It attacks, losing 300 ATK 1600 but Yusei activates Synchro Spirits to remove from play the Junk Warrior in his Grave and Special Summon Junk Synchron (500) and Speed Warrior (400) in Defense Mode, causing JS to be destroyed in the attack.
Yusei draws and activates Speed Spell - High Speed Crash to destroy 2 cards on the field since he has 2 Speed Counters (more specifically 1 card on his field and another card on the field that he chooses). Sherry mentally states that she figures SKJ will be one of those targets but that'll let her add a Spell Card from her Graveyard to her hand, giving her what she needs to win. (The real card lets you return a Level 4 or lower Warrior-Type monster from your Graveyard to your hand by sending 1 card in your hand to the Graveyard. He chooses two of his own cards and activates Starlight Road in response but the group from before throws a truck at them and Akiza is the one to bring out Stardust Dragon (2500) in Attack Mode to save themselves and Sherry realizes that Akiza is a turbo duelist.
Feet away as the duel is called off due to the damage sustained, Elsworth, Sherry's butler, takes out the trio that launched the truck before meeting below with Yusei. Sherry and Yusei know that had their duel continued there'd be another chance for Sherry to win as Yusei's attacks would've left her down to 50 LPs. That is for another time and she takes off with Elsworth. While Akiza has all the proof she needs to desire becoming a Turbo Duelist, Yusei wonders what he's dueling for and it's time he finds out!
