Episode 67: Lessons Learned
Outside their school, the students, including Leo and Luna, greet their teacher Mrs. Bartlett, then discuss things with Akiza, whom shows up seconds later. However, things don't go as planned for Leo in his duel with Dexter as we see the final attack take place where Leo's Comrade Swordsman of Landstar loses to Dexter's Armed Samurai - Ben Kei to cost Leo the duel. Two of his classmates want to duel Leo next to raise their grades. Up above, one man is confident it's their last day at Duel Academy. Later, the group decide to head over to their favorite place but their friend Sly has no interest until they mention they're going to see Yusei Fudo.
Speaking of which, we find them once again at work, this time with rerouting surges. but they disturb Zora from watching her Soap Opera show and try to figure out what's to come with it. Once again, Yusei's words are all that is needed to keep Zora from going too far. Just then, Leo and his friends arrive and marvel over Jack's Duel Runner and despite Jack saying no to any rides, Crow strikes a deal but it's interrupted when Sly and Yusei meet but Sly sees nothing special about Yusei and questions coming here until he sees Stardust Dragon and feels he's the one that should own it.
Later, with Yusei alone, another man enters and finds whom he's looking for to explain the situation. Meanwhile, the man from before, revealed as Rudolph Heitmann, criticizes the class for their poor performance and decides to expel each of them despite any of Mrs Bartman's or her class' protests. Akiza enters but not even her words convince Rudolph. Yusei then arrives and explains why he's here and learns of the "machine" in need of repair. A duel is staged that puts the fate of the class on the line. Just before the duel, Yusei talks with the students as he needs their help with something.
At the duel, duel preparations take place before Yusei summons Flamvell Guard (2000) in Defense Mode and we learn that this is probably a Deck using the students' cards. Yusei sets 2 cards to end his turn so Rudolph draws and plays Ancient Gear Statue (500) in Attack Mode. Next he uses Machine Duplication to Special Summon as many as he wants and Special Summons 2 more AGS from his hand. (The real card can only Special Summon up to 2 copies of the selected monster.) Then he tributes them to Special Summon 3 copies of Ancient Gear Golem (3000 x3) in Attack Mode and Dexter recalls how even past teachers have never seen the card before (and likely this Deck was upgraded from Crowler's Deck as he too was at Duel Academy). Yusei is ready with Tuner's Barrier to save his Tuner monster's destruction in battle but Rudolph attacks with his monsters, dealing Yusei the difference in his monsters' ATKs and FG's DEF to Yusei by their effects, leaving Yusei down to 1000 LPs (and at multiple scenes such as 14:01 into the US episode, Flamvell Guard is shown as an Effect Monster).

Furthermore, Rudolph uses Level Thunder to deal 100 x the combined Level of his monsters, making Yusei take 2400 damage but Yusei counters with Hanawa's effect to discard itself and make the Effect Damage he takes to 0. Yusei is determined to give Rudolph a lesson and draws before activating Cards of Consonance to discard a Tuner (Debris Dragon and it must have 1000 or less ATK, which is true in this case) and draw 2 cards. Next he summons Eccentric Boy (800) in Attack Mode and uses its effect to use it and the Turret Warrior in his hand as Synchro Material for Stardust Dragon (2500) in Attack Mode. Since it's not enough, Yusei uses Variety Comes Out to trade it on for Eccentric Boy, Hanewata (200), and Debris Dragon (1000) in Attack Mode.

Then he uses Tuner's Explosion to destroy 3 of his Tuner monsters and an equal number of Rudolph's monsters, leaving both sides empty. Rudolph then gets hit for 1000 damage per destroyed monster, leaving him down to 1000. Yusei then finishes Rudolph off with a direct attack using Debris Dragon. Rudolph ends up on the floor stunned that such weak monsters overpowered his own and that's why he lost. The man from before enters to say that that's what dueling is all about. The man reveals that he's chancellor and tried to fire Rudolph but Rudolph didn't listen and now Rudolph revokes all expulsions. Zora arrives, glad that Yusei could help out and Yusei thanks Sly for the card as he couldn't have won without it (well not necessarily as there are better Tuner monsters than EB and any old Tuner would've sufficed for TE's effect). Sly wants Yusei's Stardust Dragon and will do anything to get it!
