Episode 65: A New Threat (1)
We open the new season with a view of Earth from space as a stone tablet falls into the atmosphere as Yusei narrates. As the intro rolls, we see three new faces and three new monsters as well as some other new clips. Inside the Sector Security building, Lazar is on the verge of cracking under the pressure of meeting his new boss. A call interrupts him as he learns of the meteor or rather stone tablet as we find the new faces gazing at it with one of them owning the card locked within. Sector Security arrives but they're told there's nothing to worry about and that they're Lazar's new directors. Meanwhile, Trudge and Mina members learn of an incident and rush the victim to get medical attention without any real details of what happened emerging.
When they see the trashed Duel Runner, they know it's some story they'll have and that it's no accident and already 5 have occurred this week. Elsewhere, Yusei, Jack and Crow are tweaking an engine prototype but push it too far and the explosion gets everyone's attention. The resulting argument is enough to push their landlord Zora to within seconds of throwing them out but Yusei diffuses the situation in time for Trudge and Mina to arrive to discuss a bigger problem at hand. Yusei and Jack learn of the Ghost that challenges people to a duel and forces them to crash. Crow knows exactly what to do and sends Mina and Trudge out the door before allowing the three of them to resume work on their engine prototype.
Trudge decides to follow what Crow said and that night, he finds the duelist he's looking for as he patrols on his Duel Runner. He accepts the duel and we see the upgrade to Speed World with Speed World 2. Trudge draws and summons Samurai Sword Baron (1600) in Attack Mode for his turn so Ghost draws and plays Wise Core (0000) in Defense Mode. With that, he sets 2 cards to end his turn but Trudge isn't worried and draws. He summons Jutte Fighter (700) in Attack Mode and uses it and SSB as Synchro Material for Goyo Guardian (2800) in Attack Mode (along with the math shown at the bottom that adds up the Levels for the viewers).

His attack prompts Ghost to activate Negate Attack and end the Battle Phase and stop the attacking monster's attack. Trudge still isn't worried though and activates Speed Spell - Count Up to give himself 1 Speed Counter for each card in his hand that he discards, leaving him with 4. Then, he uses SW2's effect to remove 4 Speed Counters to deal Ghost 800 damage per Speed Spell in his hand. With 2 Speed Spells currently, Ghost takes 1600 damage to leave it down to 2400 LPs. (Though from 13:19 to 13:20 into the US episode, his score drops in an ATK graphic!) Determined to get back at Trudge, Ghost draws and uses Spark Breaker to destroy WC and trigger WC's effect to Special Summon Machine Emperor Wisel (Meklord Emperor Wisel in the CG and it's 1 monster instead of 5 monsters shown here) (2500) in Attack Mode. (What they don't tell you is that MEW is actually Summoned through Machine Emperor Wisel Infinity's effect by combining the 5 monsters.) Then, he uses MEW's effect to take Goyo Guardian and raise its ATK by GG's ATK to 5300. His direct attack wins him the duel and causes Trudge to crash.
The result interferes with Yusei's signal while Crow discovers that Trudge is involved in the crash. After he heads home to tell Jack and Yusei, he and the others race to the hospital to learn that Synchros are useless. Back home, Crow is frustrated that he's the one that put Trudge into his current state but Yusei suggests they take the Ghost down and the trio head off that night. As sunrise approaches, the group feel they may never encounter Ghost but he makes himself known the way he's done before and Yusei gets duel preparations underway, which include a transformation of the road layout.
Much like before, Ghost draws and summons Wise Core (0000) in Attack Mode before setting 1 card to end his turn. Yusei is suspicious but draws and summons Max Warrior (1800) in Attack Mode. His attack gives his monster 400 ATK to 2200 by its effect but Ghost responds with Labyrinth of Kline to negate the attack, reduce Battle Damage to 0 and switch the attacking monster's ATK with its DEF, leaving MW with 800 ATK. Nevertheless, Yusei Special Summons Turbo Booster (0000) in Attack Mode and uses its effect to destroy WC since it battled a monster but that's what Ghost wants as Ghost brings out Machine Emperor Wisel Infinity (0000), Wisel Top (500), Wisel Attack (1200) and Wisel Carrier (800) in Attack Mode and Wisel Guard (1200) in Defense Mode. Next he uses Wisel Infinity's effect to make it into Machine Emperor Wisel (2500) in Attack Mode and Yusei''s payback may be done for!
