Episode 45: Mark of the Spider (1)

As a storm rages outside, Yusei and crew recall what Goodwin had told them as they enter the Satellite sector by helicopter. As Yusei ponders what he dad did, Mina shares her knowledge of the Infinite Zero Reverse, which is what caused Satellite to separate from New Domino City. What Trudge doesn't understand is why a Satellite was in charge of a big project but is reminded of Jack's former status by Jack himself and drops the subject before asking about the lightning and suggesting they turn around. However, Yusei orders to be brought down towards Martha's house where Jack promptly treats Martha with royalty. Trudge isn't as friendly, convinced that everyone in the area is a liar in disguise. However, one boy wanted to be part of Sector Security and perhaps he just might look as good as Trudge (which isn't necessarily a good thing). Yusei notes to Martha on the quietness of the place and they're all brought inside to learn about what happened. Yusei adds that he's only somewhat afraid of Kalin's powers and Earthbound Immortal but is ready to face him again but they can't face the Dark Signers on an empty stomach. Outside, Trudge finds some tulips and agrees to give one to Mina (these characters never picture how it'd really go in their situation).

The boy from earlier returns and starts following Trudge, whom finds himself feet away from a conversation between Jack and Mina about Carly. However, Martha finds him and puts him to work despite his status as a guest. The same kid offers to help in the bathroom and Trudge learns why the boy has been following him all this time. At dinner, the cooking gets mixed results as Trudge and Leo don't like but the kids do. Yusei tells the kids that the bridge will be done if the Dark Signers are defeated and that's good news for Trudge. However, a bolt of lightning interrupts the mood and a Dark Signer appears, revealing himself as Roman. Jack rushes forward to take on the duel but Yusei knows what'll happen and offers to lead Roman away while Jack watches over the family. Yusei leads Roman to another part of town and Akiza comes along with three of the kids agreeing to come as well. Duel preparations get underway and the other Signers with Martha feel it. When they arrive where Martha wants them to be, three of the kids are missing and Martha and Trudge race to find them.Yusei begins the duel with Shield Wing (900) in Defense Mode and ends his turn.

Roman draws and activates Spider Web (not to be confused with the anime version in the original Yu-Gi-Oh series). Next he summons Dark Tuner Spider Cocoon (0000) in Attack Mode since Yusei has a monster out and he himself does not. Then he plays Dark Spider (0000) in Attack Mode and raising DTSC's Level by 2 to 7. Finally he uses them as Dark Synchro Material for Underground Arachnid (2400) in Attack Mode. (The real card is a regular Synchro Monster that needs a DARK Tuner and non-Tuner Insect-Type monsters.) Now he uses its effect to equip itself with Shield Wing and attacks directly with UA, leaving Yusei on the ground and down to 1600 LPs. Oops! As Roman explains how UA works, Shield Wing is shown as a LIGHT monster with 800 ATK and DEF instead of a WIND monster with 0 ATK and 900 DEF! At last, Roman sets 1 card to end his turn and while Yusei reels from the attack, the three kids go for a better look.

Yusei gets to his feet and draws, summoning Road Synchron (1600) in Attack Mode. Then he uses One for One (whose artwork is Silver Wing's at 16:53 into the US episode) to Special Summon Tuningware (100) in Attack Mode from his hand by discarding 1 card (Quillbolt Hedgehog). Next he Special Summons Quillbolt Hedgehog (800) in Defense Mode by its effect. Now he makes Tuningware a Level 2 monster by its effect before using all his monsters as Synchro Material for Road Fighter (Road Warrior in the CG) (3000) in Attack Mode. Since Tuningware was used for a Synchro Summon, Yusei draws 1 card. His attack doesn't destroy UA but leaves Roman down to 3400 LPs as Roman used UA's other effect to destroy the equipped Shield Wing and prevent its destruction.

Due to Spider Web's effect, RF/RW is put in Defense Mode but Yusei still uses its effect to bring out the Level 1 Turbo Booster (0000) in Attack Mode. Next he tributes it to destroy UA (since it battled one of Yusei's monsters but they don't tell you that). Just then the three kids arrive and it's not what Akiza or Yusei want but Roman continues with Altar of the Bound Deity, giving it 1 Earthbound Immortal Counter during the Standby Phase for each Defense Position monster in play. When there are 4 of these counters on it, Roman can Special Summon an Earthbound Immortal monster from his deck. The kids realize it was a mistake but their friend has no idea where they are. Yusei cannot lose. He has to stop the Earthbound Immortal from being Summoned to save the kids!
