Episode 46: Mark of the Spider (2)

At the duel, Yusei is determined to prevent the Earthbound Immortal from being summoned as Roman draws, letting his Altar of the Bound Deity get 1 Earthbound Immortal Counter. Next he summons Grand Spider (Ground Spider in the CG) (1500) in Defense Mode. Yusei would rather have a creature with less than 8 legs but Roman says it wouldn't matter and sets 1 card to end his turn. Yusei draws and uses Road Warrior's effect to Special Summon Speed Warrior (900) in Attack Mode but due to GS' effect, SW goes to Defense Mode (not that it would've helped in Attack Mode given its effect is not activated). As an alternative, Yusei uses Advance Draw to tribute his Level 8 Road Warrior and draw 2 cards.

Next he tributes SW for Turret Warrior (1200) in Attack Mode, whom gains SW's ATK, raising its ATK by 900 to 2100. His attack takes out GS before TW is forced into Defense Mode by Spider Web's effect so Yusei sets 1 card to end his turn. Martha and Trudge arrive to see the mess Yusei and the two boys are in, especially when an Earthbound Immortal's summoning is possible. Roman draws and announces that it's too late to stop the summoning of his EI as he activates Offerings to the Bound Deity to pay half his LPs and add 2 more Earthbound Immortal Counters on Altar of the Bound Deity, making the total enough to send it to the Graveyard for its summoning, absorbing more innocent souls but Jack appears to save the two boys and bringing his score down to 1700.

Nevertheless, Roman is now able to summon Earthbound Immortal Uru (3000) in Attack Mode. Worse still, Roman adds that Yusei's father had a more ill intent for activating the Ener-D reactor as it was to see how much money he could make and ignoring all safe guards. Furthermore, Yusei's father was Roman's boss and Roman is Rex Goodwin's brother. Roman was the one that sabotaged Mr. Fudo's work and brought this whole mess to life. Not wanting to share more, Roman attacks with Uru but Yusei counters with Iron Resolve to halve his LPs, reduce Battle Damage from the attack to 0 (and end the Battle Phase but they don't tell you that), leaving him down to 800 LPs. Unfortunately, since the damage is real, Martha, Trudge and Tacha, the boy from earlier that helped out, are all in danger. They find him and Martha manages to reach him but after saving him, she's back to where he was and is unable to try anymore.

She slips off the ledge and loses her soul to Uru. This hits those watching hard and now Yusei has all the energy he needs to keep fighting. Yusei draws and summons Junk Synchron (1300) in Attack Mode and uses Turbo Booster's effect from the Graveyard to Special Summon it (0000) in Defense Mode. Next, he uses JS and TW as Synchro Material for Stardust Dragon (2500) in Attack Mode. Since Roman's EI can't be attacked, Yusei tries a direct attack (which is illegal in the CG unless either the monster has this ability or a card in play gives it that ability, neither of which are present on Yusei's field) but Roman activates Spider Egg, negating the attack and giving him 3 Spider Tokens (0000 x3) in Defense Mode. (The real card Special Summons Tokens with 100 ATK and DEF in Attack Mode.)

Trudge and Tacha are okay now but Roman has other spirits and switches places with Rally. Rally draws and uses Uru's effect to take Yusei's TB, then summons Turbo Rocket (0000) in Attack Mode and uses it and TB as Synchro Material for Turbo Booster Cannon (Turbo Cannon in the CG) (0000) in Attack Mode. Next he uses TC's effect to destroy EIU and deal damage to its owner equal to half its ATK. (Incidentally, this is the TCG effect but for the anime, it deals the full ATK.) Rally is done and gives a final assurance that Yusei can get his friends back before turning to dust. The Dark Signers share some fake sympathy and Yusei vows to destroy their dark decks
