At the duel, Akiza warns that Yusei will regret trying to ruin her life as she removes from play the Evil Thorn in her Graveyard to use Black Rose Dragon's effect, forcing Yusei's Shield Warrior to Attack Mode and making its ATK 0. Her attack prompts Yusei to activate Realize Defense to put Shield Warrior back into Defense Mode since its DEF is higher than its ATK. Nevertheless, Akiza resumes her attack, not destroying SW but leaving Yusei to take the extra damage by both of Thorn of Malice's effects, bringing Yusei's score down to 2300. Furthermore, it makes SW's ATK and DEF drop by 600, leaving it with 1000 DEF, letting Akiza win next turn with her next attack.

 Yusei tries reasoning with her again but Akiza protests that there's no one left to help her now that Sayer is gone.

Yusei draws and activates his face down Reinforce Truth to Special Summon a monster with 1000 or less ATK from his Deck by not performing his Battle Phase and he chooses Speed Warrior (900) in Attack Mode. (The real card Special Summons a Level 2 or lower Warrior-Type monster, which is true with Speed Warrior.) Next, he plays Junk Synchron (1300) in Attack Mode. Then he uses all of his monsters as Synchro Material for Stardust Dragon (2500) in Attack Mode to end his turn so Akiza draws and attacks, not destroying SD but  leaving Yusei down to 1800 LPs and SD down to 1900 ATK.

Yusei draws and activates Half Shut to halve BRD's ATK but prevent its destruction in battle, leaving its ATK down to 1500. Next, his attack leaves BRD on the field and Akiza down to 3600 LPs but unphased. Finally he sets 2 cards to end his turn. Akiza draws and attacks with BRD, leaving Yusei down to 700 LPs and SD down to 1300 ATK before setting 1 card to end her turn. Yusei doesn't get the draw he wants and can only set 1 card for his turn, determined not to give up on any of his friends. Akiza attacks and Mr. Izinski intercepts but Yusei still activates Defense Draw to negate the attack (rather, reduce the Battle Damage from the attack to 0) and draw 1 card but SD still loses the 600 ATK by ToM's effect, bringing it down to 700. Akiza doesn't listen to her father's words and uses Wonder Clover to discard a monster from her hand and let BRD attack twice. (The real card cannot be activated during the Battle Phase as it is a Normal Spell.) Yusei responds with Iron Resolve to halve his LPs and reduce Battle Damage by ToM's effect to 0, bringing his score down to 350. However, SD still loses 600 ATK, leaving it down to just 100.

Akiza is ready with Doom Petal Countdown, letting her remove from play a Plant-Type monster in her Graveyard to deal Yusei 300 damage and, by removing her other Evil Thorn, Yusei is down to just 50 LPs. Mr. Izinski takes the full brunt of the assault, leaving his clothing torn in several places before he walks to Akiza to try again to reason with her. It seems to be working and to further help, Yusei takes his turn, finally getting what he needs and equips SD with Silver Wing. Next he uses Release Restraint Wave (which at 16:21 into the US episode has Spellbinding Circle partially unedited) to destroy his own card and every Spell and Trap Card Akiza has out. (The real card only destroys the face down cards the opponent controls.) With those cards gone, the ATKs of the affected monsters return to normal, making SD stronger than BRD. He attacks but Akiza discards Hedge Guard to prevent BRD's destruction in battle and halving its ATK but still allowing battle damage, bringing her score down to 3500 LPs.

Akiza cannot stop her powers and they launch an object at Mr. Izinski but finally, Akiza gets through and stops the mess, not wanting to fight anymore. Upon request, Yusei agrees to finish the duel with Synchro Ring to double SD's ATK to 5000 since it didn't destroy BRD in battle and letting it attack twice. As a result, BRD is destroyed and Yusei wins while Akiza hugs her father. The happiness is short lived as Akiza questions whether to really be home and Yusei's words are enough to let her try.
