| Episode 40: Clash of the Dragons (1) | |||

On TV, Angela brings the news about the previous nights' events. A bearded man appears and takes no questions before he enters a building. We find Akiza motionless at a hospital as Jack, Luna and Leo watch on and Luna concludes that they may be all there for a reason. A woman rushes in, revealing to be Akiza's mom and the man reveals to be Akiza's father, wanting to know the status of her. Doctors bring them inside to bring the baffling news that while fine, Akiza isn't showing any physical signs of life. There's nothing Jack, Luna and Leo can do until Jack gets an idea and suggests to the parents of Yusei Fudo, the one with the potential to see the true Akiza. We find Yusei and Blister outside as Yusei fine-tunes his Duel Runner and learns of what's happened in New Domino City. A helicopter arrives, piloted by Mr. Izinski that takes he and Blister to Martha's place to discuss the situation, recalling the events to how Akiza became a Signer. Akiza begins mentally recalling other things and the equipment records it but Yusei is still reeling from his duel with Kalin. Martha gives Yusei the courage he needs to face his fears and agree to help Akiza but Blister jokes about Yusei's mate being his Duel Runner before Yusei is brought into where Akiza lies. Yusei works his signer powers and obtains Akiza's mark, letting Akiza awaken and not be happy to see her parents there. Akiza's anger builds and she brings Yusei into a duel where she begins with Evil Thorn (300) in Attack Mode. Next she uses its effect to tribute itself and deal Yusei 300 damage, bringing him down to 3700. Furthermore, she gets 2 more Evil Thorns without their effects and she uses Closed Plant Gate to prevent all of Yusei's attacks next turn since she has two Plant-Type monsters out. All Yusei can do is play Shield Warrior (1600) in Defense Mode and set 2 cards to end his turn so Akiza draws and summons Twilight Rose Knight (1000) in Attack Mode and uses its effect to bring out Dark Verger (0000) in Attack Mode. Next, since TRK is a Tuner, Akiza uses all her monsters as Synchro Material for Black Rose Dragon (2400) in Attack Mode. Then she equips BRD with Thorn of Malice to raise its ATK by 600, putting its ATK up to 3000. She thought Yusei was helping her but instead it was all about the mark and she'll never duel for Yusei again! |
