That night, Blister brings Yusei into his home, noting how similar it is to where Yusei is from and advises to get some rest but Yusei heals quickly as he stares out into the city. Meanwhile, Luna and Leo discover Yusei has left without any note but fixed their Duel Disks. A phone call of sorts interrupts their conversation and a guy, revealed as Dexter, shares info on the Black Rose being an expert duelist with cards that come alive and she's going to appear today. Dexter notes Leo's lack-of-falling-off Duel Disk but is denied an answer as the duo don't know much about their mysterious helper. Next morning, Yusei is tweaking his runner when Blister asks what Lazar said to him and finds the picture of Yusei's friends and is willing to help keep them safe. He heads out, assuring they'll be fine but Yusei mentally adds that that's only if Goodwin doesn't do anything about it.

Meanwhile, Goodwin asks Jack about his training and explains that another contestant is participating in the Fortune Cup, someone Jack knows. As Goodwin leaves, Jack and Mina have a discussion about what it means to be participating in the Fortune Cup with his greatest rival. He draws his Stardust Dragon and knows it's a chance to redeem himself before heading out, considering that the Crimson Dragon might emerge at the Fortune Cup too. Elsewhere, a taxi arrives with Tanner and Yanagi emerging from it and they appear before Yusei as the show's theme song plays in the background while he's working on his runner but it's too loud and Yusei turns the music off. Tanner and Yanagi got WAY early release and headed over but Tanner doesn't like the surroundings yet does like the Duel Runner's condition. Tanner wants to take it out for a test drive and promises to return it scratch-free but Yanagi brings up his last runner so Yusei agrees to duel Tanner for the rights. At the duel site, Yanagi strikes up a conversation with Blister and shows his deck (which actually IS a joke, given all the cards' effects and takes a miracle of Yusei's caliber to win with it). Tanner and Yusei prepare to duel when Jack arrives, propsing a deal whereby Yusei adds the Stardust Dragon card to his deck and if he wins, he keeps it but if not, Jack gets the card and they go alone. However, Yusei brings up what Lazar said and Jack knows nothing about it but gives Yusei his Stardust Dragon card anyway.

Jack concludes that he and Goodwin have their own agendas and speeds off. Yanagi needs another look at the card and when Yusei adds that Jack was involved in the duel, concludes that Jack and Yusei are both Signers but that doesn't clear anything up for Yusei. On the road, Jack mentally states his thoughts about what Yusei thinks but he's out to make sure it doesn't happen. Meanwhile, Goodwin has brought Lazar and the other members of Illyaster to find those that have the mark of the Crimson Dragon and orders them to go and seek them out. Elsewhere, Blister finds Yusei and the others in a crowd, watching a duel between Joey Wheeler's cousin Jesse Wheeler (whom has Joey Wheeler's looks and accent) and his opponent and explains that he's found a boat to check on Yusei's friends for that night. Leo and Dexter arrive but have no luck finding the Black Rose but Dexter assures she's coming. Yusei arrives and Leo spares no time showing Dexter, whom has doubts that Yusei is a superhero.

Nevertheless, Yusei explains that Leo is no threat to them as he helped regain his own memory. Leo sees Yusei's Fortune Cup invite and realizes that he gets to duel his friend but Yusei suddenly drops to his knees in pain, recalling the last time his arm felt pain and fears the Crimson Dragon is here. However, thorny vines appear and begin wreaking havoc in the area. A dragon appears and Leo, Tanner and Yanagi get a look at Yusei's mark. A masked red-haired woman appears and wants no part of Yusei's mark and disappears, taking her dragon with her. Leo and Dextor are mesmerized that they finally saw her while others are in pain or shock. Yusei must find the Black Rose and get some answers and he will in due time. In an alley, the Black Rose, regains her energy and contemplates what happened. In his office, Lazar reports that the Black Rose is also competing and everything is going according to plan for Goodwin, the Crimson Dragon will rise and Yusei will fall!
