Episode 8: Fire it Up!

In the facility, Yusei is brought to Chief Armstrong's office where Armstrong delivers more than just a few words before shoving him to two men in white suits to find out what's being kept from them. Yusei is brought in for DNA analysis and had better hope what's being looked for is found or he and Armstrong will have a mess of problems. Back in his office, Lazar shows Goodwin Yusei's profile but nothing it provides is what Goodwin wants so Goodwin decides to take a visit to the facility and wants Lazar to inform Armstrong of his arrival. Yusei is shoved back into his cell and learns that he must be a Signer, something Yanagi learned about long ago but believed it only as a legend. Now he believes it may actually be true and explains the story to Yusei but is disappointed to learn that Yusei doesn't have one of the signer cards.

Drawing his Red Dragon Archfiend card and placing it on the table, Jack isn't believing that he could be a Signer, especially when he can't defeat a Satellite duelist. Mina enters to tell Jack of the breakdown of his duel taking place next day but Jack won't need it as he's not dueling until Yusei gets out and the two of them get their rematch. Armstrong introduces the crowd to Rex Goodwin, whom is implementing a program to find the mark of a champion over the next few weeks. Back in New Domino, an MC announces an epic rematch on the way as Jack has decided to duel anyway. At the Kaiba Dome, Hunter Pace is first to enter, ready to win his title back. Seconds later, Jack arrives and the duo take their places at the starting line. After duel preparations and the green light, Jack begins with Dark Resonator (300) in Defense Mode (and the explanation that follows would've probably been also useful in its first appearance). Next he sets 2 cards to end his turn.

Goodwin begins explaining how the program works, spending particular attention on Yusei Fudo. At the duel, Hunter Pace draws and discards Skull Conductor to Special Summon two Burning Skull Heads (800 x2) in Defense Mode (since their ATKs add up to 2000 but they don't tell you that), leaving Jack down to 2000 by the BSH's effects. MC can't bear to watch as HP then tributes his BSHs for Skull Flame (2600) in Attack Mode. Furthermore, he Special Summons a third BSH (with SF's effect but they don't tell you that), leaving Jack down to 1000 LPs. HP has it all worked out for next turn but Jack sees HP as the same trash he's beaten before. Goodwin has made his decision and Armstrong orders all but Yusei Fudo back to their cells as Yusei has been chosen and Goodwin knows all about the mark of the Crimson Dragon, ordering Yusei to follow or be sent somewhere else and has a sinister grin on his face.

Jack draws and tributes DR for Big Piece Golem (2100) in Attack Mode. Next he activates his face down Revival Gift to Special Summon DR from his Graveyard and give HP 2 tokens. Next he sends DR and BPG to the Grave to Synchro Summon Red Dragon Archfiend (3000) in Attack Mode. His attack destroys both BSH, then the two tokens by its effect. Furthermore, he activates Lineage of Destruction, giving his monster an additional 3 attacks since it destroyed 3 of HP's monsters this turn. (The real card only lets the monster, which must be Level 8 and is in this case, attack twice during that turn.) RDA's attacks destroy SF and win Jack the duel. Perhaps HP can try fixing brake pads for a living? Next time Jack meets Yusei, he'll prove why he's the Master of Faster once and for all!
