Episode 113: Win Mr. Stein's Duel (1)

At the DA classroom, a teacher is giving a lecture to an invisible class. We find that the gym is now an infirmary as many if not all of the students are "in bed" there. Syrus says it's getting way out of hand. Viper is nowhere to be found! Meanwhile, Axel discovers that the walls he's surrounded by are solid rock and tells Viper he can't keep him down here, suggesting Viper let him go before he really gets angry. Viper says Axel's services are no longer necessary. Inside Sheppard's office, Jaden finds out that Sheppard's gone and boy did Sheppard pick a bad time to go AWOL. Elsewhere, Adrian finds out the info on Viper's hideout as the basement is 20x the size of the rest of the facility. Back in in Sheppard's office, The students remind Crowler and Bonaparte that Viper is causing all of this. Crowler says he instructed them to go find Viper and the two of them will stay there in case Sheppard returns. Ms Fontane comes in, saying Adrian woke up. Adrian tells Jaden what he knows, then sets up a spy uniform and heads out.

In Viper's lab, Viper spots Jaden's group as they stepped in front of the laser. He says he'll make them his permanent guests. The group search but find no one until they see an elevator and figure it might be an underground basement but (as Alexis points out) ALL basements are underground so they board the elevator and somehow they're back outside, or are they? Alexis figures it's not outside but a research facility. Jim hasn't seen a research facility this realistic.

Jesse tells them all to focus as they aren't there to enjoy the view. Hassleberry suggests they synchronize their watches but there's one problem.....none of them are wearing watches so Hassleberry suggests they shout and hope for the best and everyone agrees. Adrian, meanwhile cuts the power as Viper says he wants to have a word with the electrician. In virtual environment, the group decide to split up and Jaden encounters the eyeball in Viper's lab that knew Jaden would come play with it. They're going to have so much fun.

Meanwhile, Alexis' group finds a tiger, which isn't in the least bit friendly and Shirley had been acting up right before this. Jim decides to have his croc Shirley fight the tiger while the other two run. Alexis disappears down a trap door that Hassleberry stepped on while the two of them were running. Jaden runs into Professor Stein, whom he had in intro to Duel History. Stein tells Jaden to think for once, then asks to follow him instead. He shows Jaden that Viper is beyond those doors but they're locked so the two of them duel. Alexis finds herself in some enclosed box like Axle's.

Jesse and Syrus see that Jaden's missing and wonder where he is. Back at the duel, Stein begins with Scab Scarknight (0000) in Attack Mode, then sets 1 card to end his turn. Jaden plays Elemental Hero Burstinatrix (1200) in Attack Mode and attacks SSK, leaving Stein with 2800 as Stein explains that if Jaden had paid attention in class, he'd know that SSK can't be destroyed (he probably means in battle but I'm sure we'll find out) and that its effect takes control of the monster that attacks it.

Jaden sets 1 card to end his turn. Stein plays Demand Man (0800) in Attack Mode and attacks Jaden directly with his monsters, leaving Jaden with 2000. Then he sets another card face down to end his turn. Jaden plays Neo-Spacian Air Hummingbird (0600) in Defense Mode and uses its effect but it gets negated by SSK's effect. Jaden ends his turn so Stein draws, using the effect of DM to switch Air Hummingbird to Attack Mode, then the third effect of SSK to have it battle the opponent's monster, dealing himself 800 damage, leaving his score at 2000 and bringing AH to Stein's field.

Jaden sets 1 card to end his turn. Stein asks how it feels to be betrayed by all of his monsters and he makes another reference to the original Yu-Gi-Oh series (Season 5, during the Pharaoh's Memory half). Jaden's sick of hearing the ancient history and suggests dueling in the present. Stein says that ignorance and power are a deadly combination and Jaden has both but before long they'll belong to Viper. Jaden can't believe that Stein works for Viper!
