Episode 108: Hanging with Axel (1) |
At their dorm, Jesse says Jaden's dorm makes his own dorm look in shame. He's never seen so many booster packs! They decide to open them and excitedly ask each other to check out their own pulls. Their excitement ends when Ruby and WK tell their "masters" that someone is outside and they race after the person. Meanwhile, Axel is hanging literally on a rope, remembering what his father told him.
Then he breaks free and lands safely, hoping his father is watching since the war is about to start. Jaden and Jesse find Axel, asking if he's seen anyone suspicious. Jesse tells Jaden about Axel's training. Jaden wants to try it but Axel says it's not child's play, which Jaden happens to enjoy. Axel walks away. Meanwhile, Viper has a nightmare about his son, then is reassured by the "eyeball" that he can help his son but Viper must do something for "the eyeball" first. Viper realizes that his new "gift" is what he needs and announces the next morning that they're all required to wear them as they'll participate in survival duels. Crowler and Bonaparte aren't too pleased with this and to make matters worse, Viper says that two low scores mean expulsion from the school. Crowler and Bonaparte try to tell Sheppard that Viper has gone too far but Sheppard says to give Viper the benefit of the doubt. Jaden likes this new plan, they get to duel everyday but Sheppard thinks Jaden has no idea how difficult this'll be.
Viper instructs everyone to return to their dorms to await further instructions. Sheppard announces that the survival duels will take place after 5th period. (Since when did they have class periods? Last I checked all they had was lunch period but whatever.) Adrian can't believe they're forcing them to wear the Bio Bands like they're criminals or animals in the wild. Jim Cook says it's a way of protecting the animal not hurting it. Shirley lets out a low growled response. Syrus isn't too happy and just walks away as Hassleberry says to tell all pipsqueaks that he's coming. Syrus walks through the forest and tells Jaden and Jesse that this must stop as Viper's hiding something. Have they ever met a nice guy named Viper. (Can't say that they've met ANYONE named Viper, I certainly haven't.) Obviously DA doesn't mean anything to Jaden. Jaden says Syrus complains all the time. Jesse somewhat agrees but what if Syrus is right? Meanwhile, Viper finds Axel in his training and orders him to duel Jaden by terrifying him and push him beyond his limits. Viper then returns to his lab, thinking he heard something along the way and it turns out he did. Adrian tries to find a way in but it's no good so he goes back to his dorm to have the Bio Band scanned but it's going to take a while. Syrus encounters Axel but instead of getting to duel him he is instead hung on the contraption that Axel trains on and Jaden shows up, demanding Axel to release Syrus but Axel isn't about to let him go and instead activates the device above Syrus' head, explaining that if Jaden wins, Syrus is released but if he loses, Syrus falls.
As the duel gets set-up, Viper turns the security camera towards the duel. Jaden begins with Poly to bring out Elemental Hero Flame Wingman (2100) in Attack Mode. Axel says it's a pretty powerful monster to bring out on the first turn but warns Jaden to finish his turn because every second that goes by is another second closer to Syrus' last hurrah. Jaden sets 2 cards to end his turn. Axel plays Blaze Accelerator, letting him send Pyro-Type monsters with 500 ATK or less and he plays Volcanic Shell (0100) in Attack Mode and uses BA's effect but Jaden activates De-Fusion to exchange FW for Elemental Hero Burstinatrix and Elemental Hero Avian (1200) and (1000) respectively in Attack Mode. (The real Blaze Accelerator only sends monsters from the hand to the Grave.) Axel says you can't dodge the same thing twice so he uses VS' effect to pay 500 LPs to add another one to his hand, leaving his score at 3500. Then he plays another Volcanic Shell and once again uses BA's effect to take out Burstinatrix. Syrus wants the duel sped up as he's short on time. Hassleberry brings in an unintentional "hold tight" joke since Syrus is literally being held tightly by the ropes. Axel sets 1 card and ends his turn, telling Jaden he'd better do something before the rope breaks. Jaden wonders whether Axel wanted to do this just for a duel or was there more to it. |
