Episode 87: Blinded by the Light (1)

At Dual Academy, Chazz challenges an opponent to a duel after a game of "who has more medals". Meanwhile, Jaden stretches saying it's a great day for a duel. A voice breaks his moment and it's Syrus in the trash can. Syrus tells Jaden that he's hiding since the rules state you must duel once per day. (Then that means Jaden's already broken that rule.) The number of medals determines their grade. (Well that makes it easy then: defeat the weaklings and have a good grade.) Syrus wants to stay in the trash can until someone worse than him walks by.

Hassleberry shows, asking why Jaden's standing around when there's a tournament going on. Jaden was just taking out the trash. There's more important stuff to do like watch Chazz take on a pro. At the dueling site, Aster says the pro nearly beat him and that the weird part is Chazz is beating his opponent (by 1400 points to be exact)! Chazz's opponent plays Marshmallon (0500) in Defense Mode. Chazz plays White Knight Lancer (1500) in Attack Mode, then activates Infernal Gauntlet, letting his WKL attack twice by tributing a monster and he chooses White Knight Swordsman.

Since his WKS went to the Grave, Chazz's White Knight monsters get 300 ATK, giving WKL 1800 ATK. Chazz attacks Marshmallon with it, which his opponent can't understand why since his monster can't be destroyed. Who needs to destroy it? Chazz's WKL has Piercing Damage and due to WKG can attack twice and does so, wiping out his opponent's remaining 2600 LPs. Aster says that no one can defeat Chazz now thanks to Sartorius. Chazz requests a duel with Jaden tomorrow since he wants Jaden to work on his deck tonight to provide a challenge.

Jaden wants to know what happened to Chazz's deck. Chazz says he threw them out. (Can't say that I blame Chazz since they are pretty terrible cards.) Try as he might, Jaden can't convince Chazz. Shouldn't Aster be dueling too? Everyone's been avoiding him and the medals are weighing his pockets down so he gives them to Hassleberry, all but one. Meanwhile, Chazz thinks about why part of him misses the Ojama monsters. Insects have it easy, they just chill until someone squishes them.

Bastion enters, telling Chazz that it's time for the meeting. Along the way, Chazz notices Bastion's new look, which Bastion says makes him look distinguished. (I think it makes him look old, as in grandpa old). At the meeting, Chazz feels sick to his stomach and argues with himself about the Society of Light as their main group leader preaches about their group. Elsewhere, Hassleberry wonders why Jaden is over there and Jaden says he's looking for the Ojama cards.

Hassleberry needs to find Jaden a hobby. Deep in the cave, the Ojama monsters call out for help. Back at his dorm, Jaden says he's ready for Chazz. The spirit of Professor Banner comes out of Pharaoh, saying he needs Jaden. Banner leads Jaden to the well of forgotten cards, where they find the Ojama cards, Chazz's best cards. (Actually he has FAR better cards than those 3.) Jaden brings the cards home and Banner's spirit says living inside a cat isn't so bad after what he's seen at the well.  Jaden plans to have the Ojamas be in his deck but Black and Green don't want to.

Yellow convinces them to go but Jaden says no costumes, much to their disappointment. The next day, Chazz demands to know what took Jaden so long. Jaden was looking through his stuff and lost track of time. He managed to find Chazz's old jacket, which part of Chazz wants to wear. Jaden leave the jacket hung nearby in case Chazz changes his mind. The duel starts and Chazz plays White Knight Swordsman (1200) in Attack Mode, then sets 1 card to end his turn. Jaden plays Elemental Hero Sparkman (1600) in Attack Mode, then plays Good Hero, letting him summon a monster with less than 1000 ATK and gives it 300 ATK for every Elemental Hero monster Jaden has out. Jaden chooses Ojama Yellow (0000) in Attack Mode, raised to 300 ATK via GH's effect.

He attacks with his monsters, destroying Chazz's WKS and leaving him with 3300.He sets 1 card to end his turn. After some partially convincing words, Chazz draws and plays White Knight Lancer (1500) in Attack Mode, raised to 1800 ATK via WKS's effect. He attacks and destroys Ojama Yellow, leaving Jaden with 2500. Jaden activates Over Limit, letting him bring back a monster with less than 1000 ATK, leaving his score at 2000.

Jaden chooses Ojama Yellow (1000) in Defense Mode. Then he plays Ojama Green (1000) in Defense Mode, then switches Sparkman to Defense Mode to end his turn. Chazz uses Tribute to the Doomed to discard 1 card (WKS) and destroys Sparkman. His WKL gets 300 ATK for a total of 2100 and Chazz attacks with it, destroying Ojama Green and leaving Jaden with 900 LPs.

Next, Chazz plays White Knight Gardna (2000) in Defense Mode and Jaden uses OL's effect again. (The real card is a Normal Trap Card.) His score drops to 400 and brings back Ojama Green. Next, Jaden plays Ojama Black (1000) in Defense Mode and uses Ojama Delta Hurricane!! to destroy Chazz's monsters since Jaden has the 3 Ojamas out. (The real card also destroys your opponent's Spell and Trap Cards.) Chazz activates Sealed Gate, forcing him to remove from play his WKS, WKL and WKG to play White Knight Lord (2000) in Attack Mode, raised to 2300 via WKS's effect. Sartorius has given Chazz more power than his old deck ever could, which is why Jaden is trying to turn him against Chazz! Jaden's jealous! Chazz is in worse shape than Jaden thought!
