Episode 81: Let's Make a Duel

At Duel Academy, Syrus is using whatever they call that thing and this awakens Jaden. Syrus mentions a site that lets one post problems and get advice. Jaden says it's easy and sends his advice. Syrus adds that its a site for people wanting romance. At the White Dorm, a guy, whom appears to be the "sender" of the original message, realizes that his moment is here: He and Alexis will be matchmates in heaven! The next day, in the forest, Hassleberry drills a running exercise while the "matchmate" of Alexis secretly glares at Alexis through binoculars.

Today will be the day he lets her know but he hopes he doesn't faint again. He wishes love were like dueling and a card from his deck falls, landing in Jaden's hands. Jaden doesn't understand what Quiz Panel is and Syrus says to read the bottom. (Hello, Syrus, the cards have no text on them.) The three ways to win a duel are Exodia, Forbidden Board (why they didn't call it Destiny Board is beyond me) and, as the guy drops from the trees, he says Final Countdown is the 3rd way.

Hassleberry demands to know why the guy was in the trees and they guy responds by playing the "look, a famous person" game and runs away. Alexis overhears and asks why they're here, dumping a bucket of water and the bucket on the gang. Alexis finds their act immature, even for Jaden. She starts to take them in but Jaden questions why anyone would want to spy on her. The guy, named Bob, whom ended up behind the bushes, seizes the moment and runs to protect Alexis.

Alexis finds that it was Bob Banter that was sending the love letters. She insists that they duel or get reported and expelled for spying. At the dueling arena, Chazz shows and Alexis fills him in on the news. Bob thinks that he'll show them with his game show deck. The duel starts and Jaden plays Elemental Hero Sparkman (1600) in Attack Mode and ends his turn. Bob begins with Search Shock, letting him send a monster to the Grave and activate Quiz Hour, letting him set 3 monsters (Slifer 10, Ra 10 and Obelisk 10) (0000 each) in Defense Mode and ends his turn.

Jaden plays Elemental Hero Avian (1000) in Attack Mode. He attacks and destroys Obelisk 10, activating its effect. Hassleberry says to go with C if it's multiple choice, while Syrus says to pick 42 if it's a number. Due to Obelisk 10's effect, Jaden must guess the required monsters that must be on the field to activate Huge Revolution. Jaden fails to guess correctly and therefore loses Sparkman and 500 LPs, leaving him with 3500. Bob reveals the cards to be People Running (People Running About in the TCG), Oppressed People and United Resistance.

Its other effect sets Obelisk 20 (0000) face down. Jaden attacks Ra 10 with Avian, destroying it and forcing Jaden to say Gagagigo, Giga-Gagagigo and Gogiga Gagigo 3 times, which much to Jaden's apparent success at tongue twisters, he cannot complete the task, causing him to lose Avian and another 500 LPs leaving his score at 3000 and letting Bob set Ra 20 (0000) face down. Jaden requests a break but Bob says not yet and plays Right or Left Quiz!, forcing Jaden to guess what hand the card is in, which he correctly guesses as the left hand, earning him 500 LPs, raising his score to 3500.

Bob sets 1 card and ends his turn. Jaden draws and plays Elemental Hero Burstinatrix (1200) in Attack Mode. Next, he uses O - Oversoul to bring back Sparkman in Attack Mode. He uses Sparkman to destroy Slifer 10, causing Jaden to do 5 push-ups in 6 seconds, which he does, costing Bob 500 LPs, leaving him with 3500. Bob then sets Slifer 20. Jaden attacks with Burstinatrix, destroying Slifer 20, having Jaden to guess the correct round number, which Jaden does but Bob activates Question Change, negating damage done to Jaden's score and giving him a new question so he flips up Obelisk 20, forcing Jaden to guess the total Level of all monsters in the Grave.

Jaden guesses incorrectly so he loses 800 LPs leaving him with 2700. Jaden protests that it was a trick question but Bob uses the "responses must be submitted in writing" quote. Alexis angrily asks Bob what he's waiting for and Bob thinks Alexis is cheering him on. Jaden says Bob has been watching too much TV and hopes his show is cancelled. Bob draws and plays Hunter Channel, flipping up Ra 20 and forcing Jaden to draw 1  card and if its text has less than 50 letters in its text, Bob takes 700 damage. Obelisk 30 and Slifer 30 are set. Jaden draws and it's Elemental Hero Wildheart, causing Bob's score to drop to 2700.

(Oops, it's actually 800 damage Bob takes, which is why his score drops to 2700.) Ra 30 is set on the field. Jaden plays Neo-Spacian Air Hummingbird (0800) in Attack Mode and uses its effect to gain 500 LPs per card in Bob's hand, raising his score to 3700. Next he uses Miracle Fusion to remove from play Avian and Burstinatrix for Elemental Hero Flame Wingman (2100) in Attack Mode. He uses Sparkman to destroy Ra 30, forcing Bob to pick a card from his deck and have Jaden guess the number of monsters in its art. He chooses The Big March of Animals but Jaden can't guess the number of monsters on it, so Bob activates Double It, dealing twice the damage that his Quiz monster deals but leaves his monster, leaving Jaden with 1300 LPs.

Jaden uses Flame Wingman to destroy Slifer 30, forcing him to drink a bowl of water in 1 minute, (which Jaden does but it looks as though there's still water inside the bowl as water splashes out after he lifts his head.) Nevertheless, Bob's score drops by 1200, leaving him with 1500. Jaden uses his Air Hummingbird to destroy Obelisk 30, which forces Jaden to name the 3 ways to win a duel. (There are others but none of them are card-related so-to-speak.) Yet despite having already seen the card, Jaden purposefully fails to guess the 3 ways, leaving his score at 100. He sets 1 card to end his turn. Bob reminds Jaden of the Bonus Round and plays Question. Oops, the card shown in the US at 16:29 into the episode is Reversal Quiz!

Jaden thinks that the only monsters he destroyed were Quiz Panel ones and chooses Obelisk 10. Much to his dismay, it's actually Quizzer Panel 9, which was sent to the Grave at the very beginning of the duel and Bob summons it (1900) in Attack Mode. He attacks with it but Jaden activates Secret Mission, forcing Bob to either attack 1 of Jaden's monsters randomly or skip his turn. Bob protests you can't ask the host a question. Jaden needs an answer and Bob chooses to attack the left monster, which turns out to be Flame Wingman,.

FW destroys QP9, leaving Bob with 1300, then 0 due to Flame Wingman's effect. Alexis walks off, seeing that Jaden probably isn't so bad at game shows. Bob is disappointed that he couldn't win the duel or Alexis' heart. Jaden reminds him to trust in himself and he'll win any match. Bob realizes that Jaden was the person that sent the advice and chases Jaden around the arena demanding Jaden to show him the way of love.
