Episode 78: Mirror Mirror (1)

In Battle City, the gang are searching for Kaibaland. Jaden thanks Aster but Aster says he's going for himself. Jaden enjoys Aster's company! Solomon points out Kaibaland. The gang reaches the entrance as Solomon says he doesn't' like the place and Bastion says it's a virtual reality. Aster and Jaden decide to go in as Jaden says it's best if Solomon and Bastion should stay outside.

Inside Kaibaland, Jaden and Aster find themselves in a long hallway, where lights flicker on. Then a great flash of light transports them to where Yugi and the gang fought their first match with the big five in Season 1. Hassleberry(as a dino) and Syrus(as a car) greet Jaden and Aster. Jaden questions where the exit is but Aster says he thinks they have to duel first. Both of them see the light brigade trapped in boxes. They're here to duel, right? Sarina appears, saying Jaden's statement was well put. Why is Aster here? Isn't he on Sarina's side?

Sarina says they've been summoned to participate in the ultimate test, while she has been asked to oversee it. Sarina remembers a conversation she had with her brother Sartorius. So Aster might be the one Sartorius needs after all? Jaden asks where Sarina's partner is and Sarina says she's right here and splits into two of herself. The duel starts and Sarina 1 draws. She plays Silver Spirit Ukyo (0800) in Attack Mode. Then she sets a card and plays Full Moon Mirror to (apparently) end her turn.

Jaden draws and plays Elemental Hero Avian (1000) in Defense Mode, then sets a card to end his turn. Syrus and Hassleberry object to Sarina taking a second turn but Sarina 2 says it's fair and draws. She plays Silver Spirit Sakyo (0600) in Attack Mode. She then sets a card to end her turn. Aster draws and summons Destiny Hero - Captain Tenacious (0800) in Attack Mode. Then he sets 1 card to end his turn. Sarina 1 draws and uses Mirror Route to let Ukyo attack directly and she chooses Jaden, leaving his and Aster's score at 7200. Jaden draws and plays Poly to summon Elemental Hero Flame Wingman (2100) in Attack Mode.

He attacks Ukyo (I assume since he didn't state which spirit he attacked) but Sarina 1 activates Mirror Bind, destroying Wingman and Tenacious but Jaden uses Elemental Mirage to bring Flame Wingman back while Aster uses Destiny Mirage on Captain Tenacious. (The real Flame Wingman cannot be Special Summoned except by Fusion Summon.) Jaden attacks with FW but Sarina 2 activates Mirror Trap, letting her activate the card Sarina 1 used, Mirror Bind, again destroying both monsters.

Sarina 2 draws and attacks directly with Sakyo, leaving Aster and Jaden's score at 6600. Then she uses Mirror Call, letting her bring back a Trap Card since Sakyo and Ukyo are both on the field, She sets 2 cards to end her turn. Only Aster realizes 1 of Sarina 2's face downs is Mirror Bind. Aster draws. Doom Lord (the left most card) has been changed for US as shown at 11:31 into the episode. Oops! At 11:31 into the episode, Doom Lord is also a Level 4 monster in the US! Speaking of Doom Lord, Aster plays Destiny Hero - Doom Lord (0600) in Attack Mode.

He uses DL's effect to remove Sakyo but Sarina 2 activates Silver Spirit Redirection, negating DL's effect and removing him from play. Jaden hopes Aster has something else planned, which he does as he plays D - Spirit, letting him play a Destiny Hero monster if he already has one out. Oops! The card actually needs you to have no Destiny Hero monsters out to play a Destiny Hero monster! He chooses Destiny Hero - Fear Monger (1000) in Attack Mode. Then he discards Destiny Hero - Blade Master to raise FM's ATK by 800 for a total of 1800. (The real card can only be discarded during the opponent's Battle Phase.)

He attacks and destroys Sakyo, leaving Sarina 2 with 6800. The FMM card seems to be getting some kind of counter as it's eyes are opening and the moon is changing phases. Aster sets 1 card to end his turn. The Sarina twins have a brief discussion of Aster's unexpected move. Sarina 1 draws and tributes Ukyo for Magic Mirror Spirit Nayuta (2600) in Attack Mode. She attacks Jaden directly, leaving his and Aster's score at 4000. (This move is illegal in the real game since Tag-Team rules prevent a player from attacking directly if their teammate has a monster.)

Jaden draws and uses Pot of Greed, then Poly to summon Elemental Hero Necroid Shaman (1900) in Attack Mode. With NS' effect, Jaden sends Nayuta to the Grave and replaces it with Ukyo but Sarina 2 explains that when Ukyo is summoned, Sakyo returns too and it does. Aster wants to know just what Jaden was thinking and what his strategy was. Jaden doesn't have a clue but decides to make up for it by using Necroshade's effect, letting him summon Elemental Hero Bladedge (2600) in Attack Mode. If Jaden attacks now, the Sarinas can use Mirror Bind but he gets an idea and plays De-Fusion to bring back Elemental Hero Wildheart (1500) and Necroshade (1600) both in Attack Mode. He attacks with his monsters, destroying both spirit monsters and leaving the Sarinas with 3200.

Sarina 2 sets 2 cards to end her turn. Aster draws and uses his Pot of Greed. Then he tributes Fear Monger for Destiny Hero - Double Dude (1000) in Attack Mode He attacks but Sarina 2 activates Soul Mirror by sending her face down Mirror Bind to the Grave, therefore letting her summon Sakyo again and Ukyo by Sakyo's effect. Aster equips DD with D - Chain, giving it 500 ATK to 1500. He attacks and destroys both spirits, leaving the Sarinas' score at 2200 by D-Chain's effect.

Sarina 2 activates Buried Soul Talisman, letting her play Magic Mirror Spirit Asogi (which has an EARTH Attribute instead of a LIGHT Attribute I might add) (2500) in Defense Mode and destroying Double Dude. Due to Asogi's effect Sarina 1 gets to bring back Nayuta and she does. Aster wonders what happened to the moon, then sets 1 card to end his turn. Jaden asks the Sarinas what's going on and they tell him that since Jaden and Aster lost 10 monsters, its effect will crush them!
