Episode 74: Happily Never After

At the WD, the White students send cheers and chants Sartorius' way. Sartorius tells them the time has come for destiny to mold their futures. He then says he is just a student and doesn't need any cheering. Outside, Jaden and the gang discuss the matter. Inside Sheppard's office, Crowler reminds Bonaparte that HE's in charge and proposes the field trip be to Italy. Bonaparte wishes the trip go to France and tears down Crowler's poster.

The Light members enter, saying they have a few ideas of their own. Crowler says that won't be happening while he's in charge. Chazz says that their leader, Sartorius, has already chosen the location. Jaden and the gang enter, asking if they get a say on the location but Chazz says for them to leave. Jaden proposes a duel. Sartorius likes the idea and lets Jaden choose the location if he wins but if not he is to join the SoL. Sartorius already knows the answer. Alexis knocks on a door, telling her (whose name is revealed to be Rose) is needed for an important duel.

At the dueling site, Rose compliments Jaden on his hairstyle. She isn't impressed that Jaden is a pro. Jaden says he's just a kid with a sweet deck and the duel starts. Rose plays Tadpole (The real card's name is T.A.D.P.O.L.E., although this could also be the anime card's name but I'm not sure.) (0000) in Defense Mode and ends her turn. Bastion finds it strange that Rose's monster has no ATK or DEF and thinks that perhaps she's luring Jaden to attack it. Jaden draws and plays Neo-Spacian Air Hummingbird (0800) in Attack Mode and uses its effect, giving him 2500 LPs for a total of 6500.

He attacks and destroys TADPOLE, triggering its effect, letting Rose add another copy to her hand. Neither Syrus, Hassleberry or Bastion have a clue of Rose's strategy. Rose plays Frog Resurrection, letting her toss one copy to bring another TADPOLE back in Attack Mode. Bastion discovers the TADPOLE was a trap as Rose tributes it for Des Frog (1900) in Attack Mode. Next with DF's effect, 2 more are summoned in Attack Mode. She tells Jaden they're princes not frogs but no one buys it (neither would I). She knows Jaden can see spirits and asks if he sees hers.

Despite Jaden's attempt to say yes, she doesn't buy what he says, however she still sees them as spirits. Jaden's grossed out by Rose wanting the first kiss from one of them. (Can't blame you, there Jaden, I wouldn't want to kiss a frog either.) In his lair, Sartorius is eager to see Jaden prove he can see monster spirits. Back at the duel, Rose continues to try and get Jaden to see her princes, then plays Des Croaking, destroying all cards Jaden controls. She attacks directly with the "princes", leaving Jaden with 800. Next she uses Poly to summon D.3 S. Frog (2500) in Attack Mode. Jaden plays Elemental Hero Bubbleman (0800) in Attack Mode and draws twice with his effect. (" ")

Then he uses Poly for Elemental Hero Mudballman (3000) in Defense Mode. Finally, he sets 2 cards to end his turn. Rose uses Pot of Greed. Next she plays Foolish Burial to send Treeborn Frog from her hand to the Grave. (The real card only sends monsters from the deck to the Grave.)Then she uses Flute of Hamelin, letting her select a monster in her Grave and send all remaining copies in the deck to the Grave. Plus with her D.3 S. Frog's effect, its ATK rises for each Treeborn Frog in her Grave for a total of 4000. Syrus sees that the toad's ATK is stronger than Mudballman's DEF. Rose corrects him by saying it's a frog. (I thought it was a prince? -_-)

She attacks and destroys Mudballman and Jaden activates Hero Signal, letting him summon Elemental Hero Avian (1000) in Attack Mode from his deck. She then uses De-Fusion to bring her "princes"... er...frogs? back and attacks with them but Jaden activates Hero Ring, preventing Avian from being attacked by 1900+ ATK monsters. She tributes her monsters for Amphibian Angel (1400) in Attack Mode, whose effect seems to bring back every Frog monster in her Grave. Chazz butts in saying that Rose lied to Sartorius about her abilities. Rose protests that they really are duel spirits and goes through her childhood story. Chazz still isn't quite buying it but he'll make sure they both see the light. Jaden draws and activates Pot of Greed.

Next he plays Elemental Hero Burstinatrix (1200) in Attack Mode. Then he uses O - Oversoul to bring back Elemental Hero Clayman (0800) in Attack Mode. After that, he activates Skyscraper. Now he plays Power Charger, giving Avian the ATK of the monster he destroys in battle. Finally, he activates Feather Shot, letting Avian and only Avian attack all monsters Rose controls, winning the duel. Jaden discovers the spirits were real and laughs as the rest of the gang tackle him to the floor and ask where the field trip's location is and Jaden says it's in Domino City, Yugi's hometown.
