Episode 71: Duel Fellas

Inside the SR dorm, Chazz is amazed that Bonaparte doesn't like the new paint job. Bonaparte says Crowler prefers blue. He then says that if the SR dorm were to disappear without notice, he would assure Chazz that the white dorm would take its place. At his lair, Sartorius flips over another card from the deck, saying that Jaden will play an important role in his plan. He gets a call from Alexis, telling him that everything is in place. Once this guy finishes off Jaden, Jaden will see the light. Inside the WD, a guy (whom we find out is Lorenzo) is playing some kind of space game and wins.

Chazz tells him to stop wasting quarters since there's business to take care of. Lorenzo plays his game again, saying that Jaden's next (and we see a Jaden-like spaceship being blasted) On a set of steps, Jaden thinks he's allergic. To what, the four gallons of calone? Syrus asks when Jaden planned to tell them about his date with Alexis. He then goes into "Alexis mode", saying all sorts of phrases. She said all that? (Not sure I believe it, either, Bastion) Hassleberry says that's pretty much what Alexis said, with a few embellishments from Syrus. Several SoL members arrive, saying that Jaden's late by over an hour.

They walk into a room, which Alexis says holds legendary artifacts like the first duel disk. Jaden adds that he hasn't been on many dates but aren't dates usually for two? Alexis questions to Jaden about someone saying it's a date. Lorenzo greets Jaden, requesting to get the duel started and flips down the lights. No one seems to recognize him except Bastion. Lorenzo says some phrases and asks Jaden if he knows what he said but Jaden doesn't (and neither do I) Lorenzo starts with Armored Core (1300) in Attack Mode and sets 3 cards to end his turn. Jaden plays Elemental Hero Burstinatrix (1200) in Attack Mode. Next he uses Skyscraper, giving Burstinatrix 1000 ATK since her ATK is lower for a total of 2200. He attacks and destroys AC, leaving Lorenzo with 3100.

Lorenzo activates Alert, letting him activate a face down Spell Card and he chooses Boss Rush to then summon another monster. Jaden sets 1 card and uses Climax Hour, which after 3 turns lets him play the monster drawn, if a monster is drawn. Lorenzo says CH is a waste of a card for the duel will be over in 3 turns and activates Cyber Summon Blaster, which as Syrus explains (and Hassleberry should be able to explain but apparently can't) that whenever Lorenzo summons a Machine monster, Jaden takes 300 damage.

Then he uses BR's effect to summon B.E.S. Tetran (1800) in Attack Mode. Then his CSB's effect lowers Jaden's score to 3700. Next he uses Shield Recovery, giving it more shields and thanks to B.E.S.T.'s effect, he can remove a shield (counter in the CG) and destroy a Spell or Trap Card and does so on Jaden's Skyscraper, lowering Burstinatrix's ATK to 1200. He attacks, Jaden counterattacks, but Burstinatrix is still destroyed, leaving Jaden with 3100.

Jaden activates Hero Signal, letting him summon a Level 4 or below Elemental Hero monster from his deck and he chooses Elemental Hero Bubbleman (0800) in Attack Mode. Lorenzo isn't thrilled, saying Jaden could draw 10 cards and it wouldn't matter for while his monster has counters, it's safe. Jaden plays Elemental Hero Sparkman (1600) in Attack Mode. Next he equips Sparkman with Element Sword, raising his ATK by 800 to 2400.

(What they don't tell you is that the monster gains 800 ATK when it battles a monster with a different Attribute). He attacks, destroying a shield and leaving Lorenzo with 2500. He attacks and destroys B.E.S.T. with B.E.S.T.'s effect and Bubbleman, leaving himself with 2100. Lorenzo reminds Jaden that BR lets him summon another monster and he chooses B.E.S. Crystal Core (2100) in Attack Mode, triggering CSB and leaving Jaden with 1800. Jaden tells Lorenzo that his monster has no shields but Lorenzo says he always has a backup plan.

He starts his attack but Hassleberry questions what he's thinking for Sparkman's stronger. Lorenzo says that his B.E.S.C.C. has an effect which lets him change a monster to Defense Mode and he selects Sparkman. He attacks and destroys Sparkman and with its other effect, it is then destroyed. Then with BR he summons B.E.S. Big Core (2300) in Attack Mode and triggering CSB, leaving Jaden with 1500. Jaden plays Neo-Spacian Grand Mole (0900) and attacks CC, leaving his score with 100 and returning him and CC to the hand. (The real card doesn't apply Damage Calculation.) He sets 1 card to end his turn. Lorenzo draws and starts to play a monster but realizes he can't thanks to BR's other effect.

Jaden activates Hero Call, placing a monster on the top of his deck and he selects Neos. Lorenzo plays Stage Select, letting him shuffle Jaden's deck and lets him add a card from his deck and place it on top. Jaden draws and it's Neos. He plays it but Lorenzo objects that Jaden needs a special card to play it. Jaden explains that he does, his Climax Hour, which while it's on the field, he can play a monster without tributes so he summons Elemental Hero Neos (2500) in Attack Mode and attacks directly, winning the duel.

Oops! He says it's on the field but it's actually in his Graveyard! After a few laughs, Jaden asks about the canolies but Sartorius takes him over and Lorenzo says that he's stronger than ever. Thanks to Sartorius he can finally see the light. Jaden says he's kidding but Chazz says Lorenzo's been reborn and all of them will soon.
