Episode 68: Homecoming Duel (2)

At the duel site, the score is Aster with 2300, Jaden at 200. Jaden thinks he has a lot to learn about his new deck. Aster thinks all he has are the Destiny Hero cards his father made. Jaden draws, Special Summoning Elemental Hero Bubbleman (0800) in Attack Mode and draws twice by its effect. Next he uses Pot of Greed. Then he uses Bubble Blaster, raising Bubbleman's ATK to 1600. Then he plays Neo-Spacian Air Hummingbird (0800) in Attack Mode and uses his effect, giving Jaden 500 points per card in Aster's hand, raising his score to 1700. Aster says it'll take more than that to beat him and Jaden knows and attacks, destroying Captain Tenacious and Doom Lord, while leaving Aster with 1300. He sets a card to end his turn.

His friends complement his comeback from near-defeat but Aster's not impressed, saying he's sick of Jaden's space cadets and activates Dark City, giving an attacking Destiny Hero monster 1000 ATK it battles a stronger monster. Next he tributes Diamond Dude for Destiny Hero - Double Dude (1000) in Attack Mode and attacks, not destroying Bubbleman due to BB's effect but destroying Hummingbird since DD can attack twice, leaving Jaden with 1500.

(I think they're using two figures to visualize Double Dude's effect of attacking twice as well as referncing its name.) He sets a card to end his turn. Jaden uses Graceful Charity to draw 3 and discard 2. Next he activates Disgraceful Charity, returning any cards discarded that turn to the owner's hands. Then he plays Common Soul to summon Neo-Spacian Flare Scarab (0500) in Attack Mode. Aster makes fun of the new "alien friend" and says that Jaden's nuts.

Jaden tells Aster that dueling is about having fun. Aster realizes Jaden's right and thinks that's what's wrong with him. Jaden uses FS's effect, giving it 400 ATK for every Spell and Trap Card Aster controls for a total of 1300. Then with CS, Bubbleman gains FS's ATK for a total of 2100. He attacks and destroys DD with Bubbleman, leaving Aster with 200. Aster activates Destiny Signal, letting him summon a Destiny Hero monster from his hand or deck. (The real card only summons from the deck.)

He chooses Destiny Hero - Defender (2700) in Defense Mode. Aster draws and with DD's effect, he gets 2 Double Dude Tokens (1000 x2) in Attack Mode. He plays Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Common Soul and returning FS to Jaden's hand. He then attacks and destroys Bubbleman with a DDT, leaving Jaden with 1300. Then he attacks directly with the other DDT, leaving Jaden with 300.

Jaden uses The Shallow Grave to revive Hero Kid (0600) in Defense Mode and with its effect, Jaden can summon 2 more (0600 x2) in Defense Mode. (The real Shallow Grave only summons monsters face down.) Aster chooses Destiny Hero - Dreadmaster (????) in Defense Mode, destroying the tokens and summoning Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude (1600) and Destiny Hero - Captain Tenacious (0800) respectively in Defense Mode, raising Dreadmaster's DEF to 2300.

(The real Dreadmaster only revives the Destiny Heroes from the Grave if he was summoned by Clock Tower Prison's effect.) Oops! At 11:40 into the US episode, the DEF of Dreadmaster is shown to stop at 2300 instead of 2400 (without Defender) 4000 (with Defender)! Jaden summons Flare Scarab in Attack Mode, whose ATK rises to 900 with his effect. He attacks and destroys CT, lowering  Dreadmaster's DEF to 1500. Oops again! Defender is still not accounted for Dreadmaster's DEF  at 12:04 into either version of the episode!

Jaden sets 2 cards to end his turn. Aster uses Pot of Greed, then tributes his monsters for Destiny Hero - Dogma (3400) in Attack Mode and attacks but Jaden activates Kid Guard, which by tributing a Hero Kid, negates the attack and add an Elemental Hero monster from his deck to his hand. He selects Neos. Aster sets 1 card to end his turn. Jaden draws and Aster explains that Dogma's effect cuts Jaden's score in half every Standby Phase. (The real card only does it the first Standby Phase after being summoned.) Jaden's score drops to 150. Jaden uses Neo Space, boosting Neos' ATK by 500 but where is Neos?

Right up there and Elemental Hero Neos appears (2500) in Attack Mode and his ATK rises to 3000. Neo Space gets a redesign for US as shown at 14:23 into the episode. Aster says that his monster is stronger but Jaden's not done as he uses Contact Fusion. Aster protests that the move is illegal but Jaden says it's quite legal and summons Elemental Hero Flare Neos (2500) in Attack Mode. (Why didn't Aster object to this when Jaden brought out Aqua Neos?) With FN's effect, he gains 400 ATK per card on the field, for a total of 4200, enough to defeat Dogma.

(The real Neo Space also gives monsters that list Elemental Hero Neos as Fusion Material monster the 500 ATK boost.) Jaden attacks with it but Aster activates D - Shield, putting Dogma in Defense Mode and preventing it from being destroyed in battle. Aster draws and switches Dogma to Attack Mode. Next he plays Heavy Storm Blade (Cyclone Blade in the TCG), destroying all Spell and Trap Cards on the field when the equipped Destiny Hero monster attacks.

(The real card only destroys 1 Spell or Trap after Damage Calculation) He attacks, clearing the field of Spell and Traps and leaving FN with 2900 but not destroyed as Jaden explains that his face down Spell Calling card let him set 2 more Spell and Traps. (The real card only lets you set 1 and it must be a Quick-Play Spell.) An astonished Aster thinks that Jaden wins but Sartorius said he was destined to win.

Could it be that Jaden is more powerful than destiny? A depressed Sartorius flips over the tarot card and Aster's score drops to 0. Aster tells Jaden to enjoy the moment while it lasts. Jaden plans to. Aster tells Bonaparte and Crowler that he likes it here and plans to stay. Outside, he calls Sartorius only to receive a "caller unavailable" message. He questions where Sartorius is.

He wants to know how many lies Sartorius has told. He has a feeling why Sartorius is so obsessed with Jaden. Oops yet again! As Jaden looks at his cards, the US version at 20:49 into the episode shows Archlord Zerato  instead of Air Hummingbird and there are two Fusion Monsters that he doesn't own! Jaden's not a threat to Aster, he's a threat to Sartorius!
