Episode 64: Camaraderie Contest

At the dorm, everyone is complaining about the day's lunch. Bastion asks Syrus if he's interested in lunch but Syrus says no. First Jaden's here, then he's gone. He's back, err not exactly. Hassleberry shows Bastion and Syrus his new jacket. Syrus says that he's Jaden's best friend. He and Hassleberry continue to trade insults, Meanwhile, Jaden is climbing the rock back to DA and is then able to talk in full sentences.

He makes it to the top but he isn't there yet and hopes his friends are having more fun than he is. At the dorm, Syrus yells in pain as Alexis tells him to hold still. Hassleberry says hair pulling and scratching are legal maneuvers. Syrus tells Hassleberry the war is still on and Alexis says to break it up. Why can't all 3 of them be friends? They're not sharing their rank! Atticus hops down from the rafters, saying he couldn't help but overhear the power struggle. After his speech about singing in the back, Alexis picks up Pharaoh, angers him and allowing him to scratch Atticus' face.

She adds that there's plenty more where that came from. Hassleberry adds that violence isn't the answer. Alexis angrily tells them as if they're the ones to talk. She tells them to remain silent and duel each other. They agree. Later that night, Bastion calls Alexis, saying that Syrus has gone missing. Alexis wonders if he's looking for Jaden. They must find him! In the forest, nocturnal animals spook Syrus. Syrus tries showing no fear but it doesn't quite work as he says that anytime Jaden would show would be great for him. In the water, Jaden hops out, saying the fish won't sit still. Hungry, he says he'd trade his best cards for a Sloppy Joe or even liver and onions. The next morning, Hassleberry waits, thinking that Syrus came to his senses but Syrus shows. He reviews the conditions but isn't happy with Syrus' end but Atticus approves it.

Who made him ref? Syrus says Atticus prefers to be called celebrity judge and starts the duel by playing Ambulanceroid (1200) in Defense Mode. Then he sets 1 card to end his turn. He tells Hassleberry he's been with Jaden since Freshman year. Hassleberry isn't impressed and draws, playing Archeonys (0300) in Attack Mode. He says that this monster has a place in his heart for he played it the day he met Jaden and was his only wingman that day.

Moving ahead, Hassleberry plays Ultra Evolution, letting him tribute his monster for Black Tyranno (2600) in Attack Mode. (In an earlier episode, this card was called Modified Ultra Evolution.) MUE has been changed for US as shown at 7:58 into the episode. He uses BT's effect, letting him attack Syrus directly, leaving him with 1400. After saying he isn't ready to surrender, Syrus says that Hassleberry's strategy was used on Jaden for he was there. Hassleberry must've blocked it out.

Syrus plays Submarineroid (0800) in Attack Mode and uses its effect to attack directly, leaving Hassleberry's score with 3200. Then he sets 2 cards to end his turn. Hassleberry draws, thinking that his strategy is going to be risky and plays Giant Rex (2000) in Attack Mode. He attacks and destroys Submarineroid with GR. Syrus activates Supercharger, giving him 2 cards since one of his Machine-Type monsters was attacked.

(The card's name is actually "Supercharge" as called in later episodes and its effect can only activate when a Machine "roid" monster is attacked.) He attacks directly with BT (why didn't he do this in the first place?) but Syrus activates Cyber Summon Blaster, stopping Hassleberry's attack and dealing him 300 damage when Syrus Special Summons a Machine-Type monster. (The real card doesn't stop the attack.)

Hassleberry knew that Syrus saved his best Trap Card for last so he plays Dino Stomp, letting him destroy 1 Trap Card and he selects Syrus' face down card (which could've been a Spell Card.) Wonder Garage, letting him Special Summon a Level 4 or less Machine-Type monster to his hand. Oops! You can't summon to your hand! He brings out Drillroid (1600) in Attack Mode, causing CSB to activate, lowering Hassleberry's score to 2900.

Hassleberry says 300 point is nothing and attacks with BT, destroying Drillroid and leaving Syrus with 400. He sets 1 card to end his turn. Syrus plays Poly to summon Ambulance Rescueroid (2300) in Attack Mode. With another Machine-Type monster Special Summoned, Hassleberry takes another 300 damage, bringing him to 2600. Oops! Before the damage is calculated on the lifepoint meter, the lifepoint meter reads 4000 in the US at 12:56 into the episode!

Syrus attacks and destroys GR with ARR, leaving Hassleberry with 2300. He plays Decoyroid (0500) in Defense Mode and sets 1 card, explaining that Decoyroid is the only monster Hassleberry can attack. Hassleberry concludes that he may be trapped and draws, activating Big Evolution Pill by tributing Black Tyranno. Oops, he calls it a Field Spell from 14:04 to 14:07 into the US episode but it's really a Normal Spell! BEP has been slightly modified for US as shown at 14:07 into the episode.

With its effect, for 3 turns he can summon Dinos without tributes and plays Ultimate Tyranno (3000) in Attack Mode. He attacks and destroys Decoyroid but Syrus uses ARR's effect to re-summon Decoyroid, lowering Hassleberry's score to 2000 by CSB. He reminds Syrus that the ARR's effect can only be used once per turn but his own monster has its own effect, letting it attack all monsters Syrus has but Syrus activates De-Fusion, bringing back Ambulanceroid and Rescueroid (1200) and (1800) respectively, causing CSB to activate twice, leaving Hassleberry with 1400.

Hassleberry destroys Decoyroid again but with Ambulance and Rescue's effects, Decoyroid comes back, lowering his score to 1100. UT attacks again, destroying and bringing back Decoy, lowering his score to 800, repeating the loop while Syrus starts getting dizzy. He says he just hasn't been getting much sleep lately. UT destroys Decoy one last time, firing CSB one last time to win the duel. Syrus sees Jaden coming (in his mind) and runs to him while in reality, he collapses.

On his side, Hassleberry picks up the face down card he had, Jurassic Impact, which for 1000 LPs destroys all monsters on the field. If he used it he would've won. (Why didn't you play it then, Hassleberry?) Guess he now sees that Syrus should be Jaden's wingman. Later, the two of them are walking into the forest when Hassleberry asks why he's carrying the stuff and Syrus says its because he lost. He should've taken him out when he had the chance. Meanwhile, poor Jaden wonders how he got up there. He says he'll never get back to the red dorm.
