Episode 43: Hearts Are Wild |
On a cruise liner, two people are gambling when one shows a set of 7 of hearts cards and claims he has won but his opponent reveals 1 queen, 3 kings and an ace so he wins. Later that night, the winner looks out onto the sea as his opponent congratulates him on winning then points out DA, the most famous academy on the planet. The winner decides he's going to check it out and races over on his jet ski.
At DA, Jaden is sitting on the rocky ledge as Alexis shows, saying that Syrus said Jaden would be here. Jaden could use a friendly face. He could use a break from the shadow rider and saving the world stuff. Meanwhile, the winner lands on the island then enters Sheppard's office asking to duel Alexis. Crowler questions why he should allow this and "winner" shows him a card (which happens to have the back of a Duel Monsters card) that reads "The Gambler", which is his voyage name. He always gets what he desires and asks where Alexis is. Sheppard refuses, saying that his school is not a gambling parlor. "Winner" says that if they don't call her, he could make things very uncomfortable for them. The doors open but there isn't anyone there. Just outside the door, the gang is standing on both sides of the door as Jaden asks what's going on. Syrus replies they're spying. Alexis asks who they're spying on as the doors open again. Everyone inside looks only to see again no one there. Once again outside, Jaden asks Alexis what's wrong but she doesn't answer. Back inside, Winner asks once again to bring him Alexis but yet again Sheppard declines, ordering him to leave or he'll be thrown out. Winner detects a bluff but Crowler proves he wasn't bluffing and doors open, revealing guards whom try to get him but he throws several cards at them, all of which cut across them while others back away. (Why would someone be afraid of playing cards being thrown at them?
They aren't sharp and could easily be blocked by one's hand.) Alexis enters, saying that he hasn't grown up much. Winner, whose name is revealed to be "Pierre" says she has. Alexis says to stop complementing, then questions what he wants from her, which she adds is nothing. Pierre corrects her by saying he does. Alexis then agrees, saying that he stole it from her. Everyone else hasn't a clue what this "something" is and Pierre knows she wants it and she'll duel for it. At the arena, Pierre starts with Gamble Angel Bunny (1200) in Attack Mode. Then he sets a card and uses GAB's ability, forcing him to toss a coin and if he's right, Alexis takes 1000 damage but if not, he takes the damage. (There is a very similar card in the real game called "Abare Ushioni" with the same stats and effect with the exception that its effect can only be used during the Main Phase.) He asks Alexis if she's feeling luck and flips the coin, calling tails but incorrectly guesses, then says he'll go again. Syrus complains that it's not fair but Pierre points out that it's quite fair as he has played Second Coin Toss, which lets him re-flip the coin once per turn.
(The real card
only works during the coin toss not afterwards.) He again chooses tails and this
time is correct, dropping Alexis' score to 3000. He sets 1 card to end his turn.
Alexis plays
Cyber Tutu (1000) in Attack Mode. With
her effect, she can attack directly since Pierre has no monsters with fewer ATK
than CT so she attacks but Pierre activates
Fairy Box,
which forces him to toss a coin and if he's correct, the damage goes to 0. He
flips a coin and calls heads but gets tails. He then uses SCT's effect and gets
heads. She sets 1 card to end her turn. Pierre pays for FB, leaving him with
3500 then uses GAB's effect once again, calling it wrong, then correctly
guessing with SCT, leaving Alexis with 2000. Next he plays another GAB in Attack Mode and attacks CT but Alexis activates Doble Passé, directing the damage to her LPs, leaving her with 800 then allowing CT to attack directly, leaving Pierre with 2500. Pierre then attacks Cyber Tutu with his second GAB, destroying her and leaving Alexis with 600. Alexis stares at her deck saying it comes down to this. She draws and sets 1 card, then plays Scapegoat, giving her 4 Goat Tokens (0000 x4) in Defense Mode. Pierre pays for Fairy Box, leaving his score at 2000. Then he plays Sand Gambler (0300) in Attack Mode. He uses his effect, which if he gets 3 heads, Alexis' monsters are destroyed but if 3 tails, his own monsters are destroyed. He gets 1 heads then uses SCT to get the second and finally gets the third, destroying Alexis' monsters. Alexis activates Hallowed Life Barrier, which by discarding 1 card, reduces damage to 0 this turn. Alexis draws, thinking she tried to be his friend and tried to teach him Duel Monsters but he used it to become a thief and plays The Warrior Returning Alive, letting her bring back 1 Warrior monster and she chooses and summons Cyber Tutu in Attack Mode. Next she uses Prima Light, allowing her to tribute CT for Cyber Prima (2300) in Attack Mode and her effect destroys all Spell Cards on the field. (The real card must be Tribute Summoned to get her effect and only destroys face up Continuous Spell Cards.) She attacks with Cyber Prima but Pierre activates FB but calls it wrong and SG is destroyed, wiping out the rest of Pierre's LPs.
The coin rolls and falls on heads. Pierre protests she got lucky but Alexis doesn't believe in luck. She won because she works hard and plays even harder. Pierre then says that the reason he wanted to duel her is because he loved her as he tosses Alexis her "handkerchief" back. He thought if he won she would fall in love with him. He pleads for her to come back with him but she denies and he walks out. Jaden then says sayonara (which is actually Japanese from my understanding). Everyone else walks away as Jaden says even more non-French terms. |
