Episode 30: Doomsday Duel (2)

At the duel, the score stands at Jaden with 700 and Nightshroud with 3000. Chumley warns Jaden that the orb they're in is disappearing fast. Jaden plays Pot of Greed for 2 cards. Next he uses De-Fusion to bring back Elemental Hero Burstinatrix (1200) and Elemental Hero Clayman (0800) in Attack Mode. Then, he uses Fusion Sage, letting him add Poly to his hand, which he uses to play Elemental Hero Thunder Giant (2400) in Attack Mode and attacks Red-Eyes, destroying both monsters. He then attacks directly with Burstinatrix, dropping Nightshroud's LPs to 1800. Jaden asks for flinching from Nightshroud but Nightshroud tells him he leaves that for his opponents. Next, Jaden plays Mirage of Nightmare, giving him cards until his hand holds 4 during Nightshroud's Standby Phase but he has to randomly discard that amount during his Standby Phase and sets a card face down to end his turn.

Nightshroud draws and so does Jaden, who activates Emergency Provisions to destroy Mirage and gain 1000 LPs. Oops! EP sends Spell or Trap Cards not destroys them. His score rises to 1700. Nightshroud plays Mirage Dragon (1600) in Attack Mode and attacks Burstinatrix, destroying her while reducing Jaden's score to 1300. Jaden plays Elemental Hero Bubbleman (0800) in Attack Mode and with his effect, Jaden gets 2 cards. (" ") Next he uses Silent Doom, letting him bring back a Normal Monster in Defense Mode and he chooses Elemental Hero Sparkman (1400) in Defense Mode.

Then, he plays Fusion Gate and with his effect, plays Elemental Hero Tempest (2800) in Attack Mode. He attacks with Tempest, destroying MD and reducing Nightshroud's LPs to 600. Jaden adds that he's winning this shadow game but Nightshroud tells him that it's about the cards you hold and plays Red-Eyes Black Chick (0800) in Attack Mode. (The real card's name is Red-Eyes B. Chick.) He then tributes it for another Red-Eyes Black Dragon (2400) in Attack Mode, which he tributes for Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon (2400) in Attack Mode and his effect gives him 300 ATK for every Dragon-Type monster in Nightshroud's Graveyard for a total ATK of 4500. He attacks with it but Jaden activates Negate Attack, cancelling out the attack and ending the Battle Phase. "Oh well, until next turn," Nightshroud says. Meanwhile, Zane feels that something's amiss.

While everyone else is sleeping, Sheppard questions what he was thinking for getting the kids involved in a great battle. What choice did he have? Elsewhere, Chazz orders Ojama Yellow to stop dancing but he/she tells him that he/she cannot stop dancing to the rhythm of the spirit key. Back at the duel, Jaden plays Wroughtweiler (1200) in Defense Mode and switches Tempest to Defense Mode to call it a turn but Nightshroud calls it a waste of time, at least for what he can say about Chumley and Syrus in the orb.

Nightshroud plays Spear Dragon (1900) in Attack Mode and attacks Wroughtweiler, destroying it and dropping Jaden's score to 600 as Nightshroud explains that SD deals damage equal to the difference in its ATK and its attack target's DEF as damage if the monster it battles is in Defense Mode, then it changes to Defense Mode. He knows that Jaden can send cards he controls to the Graveyard to prevent Tempest from being destroyed in battle so he plays Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy it, then attacks with Darkness Dragon, destroying Tempest and ends his turn. Jaden collapses, then rises to his feet to see the orb become engulfed in lava.

Alexis offers to duel Nightshroud, whom knows her but Jaden rises to his feet then draws his card and plays Elemental Hero Wildheart (1500) in Attack Mode. Next, he equips him with Wild Half, which halves the ATK of the monster and special summons "tokens" with the same ATK as the original monster's ATK, dropping REDD's ATK to 3300 and bringing out two "tokens". (The 900 ATK boost is still being factored in here, which means that it lost ATK equal to half its original ATK, lowering its ATK by 1200.) Next he uses Poly to summon Elemental Hero Wildedge (2600) in Attack Mode but Nightshroud protests that Wildedge's ATK is less than his so Jaden plays Skyscraper, giving Elemental Heroes 1000 ATK. (" ")

Wildedge's ATK rises to 3600 and he attacks all of Nightshroud's monsters and wins the duel. He and Nightshroud collapse while Alexis jumps in as the two of them are transported out of the volcano along with Chumley and Syrus. Jaden did it but where is he? Chumley finds him face down. They order him to wake up but Alexis tells them he's fine. She picks up a card, which appears to be the soul card Nightshroud had. Hmm, the card has an orange background instead of a yellow background like in the Japanese at 18:59 into the episode.

Nightshroud's soul appears in the card. She walks over and sees someone, whom says her name. Can it be? Bastion and the rest rush over to see Syrus and Chumley around Jaden. They ask if he won and Chumley replies he did. Zane sees someone. Is this the shadow rider? He walks over to see Alexis crying over with the person in her arms, saying it is her brother. Zane says that the sun may be rising but night will fall again soon and they must be ready!
