Episode 11: Tag-Team Trial (2)

At the duel, Chazz can't wait to see Jaden get kicked out of Duel Academy. That kid being the next king of games? No way, that's Chazz's destiny! Crowler gloats on being a genius for getting the whole punishment set up and laughs. Is he enjoying the punishment a little too much? Crowler  says he's laughing because their suffering is nearly through.

Sheppard disagrees. Jaden starts to think that his dorm should've been called orange to avoid the horrible rhyming. (Who could blame him? They are horrible rhymes.) The brothers tell them to forget about their rhyming and start focusing on their card playing. Jaden tells Syrus he'll be the one to take Gate Guardian down and draws. He summons Elemental Hero Sparkman (1600) in Attack Mode. Then he equips Sparkman with Spark Blaster, whose card art has been partially changed for US as shown at 4:37 into the episode.

He uses its effect to change Gate Guardian to Defense Mode. Bastion says it was an odd choice and after more rhyming, Jaden sets a card and ends his turn. Dox draws and sets 1 card to end his turn. Para draws and ends his turn (although he doesn't say so) Syrus becomes worried about what Para and Dox have said but Jaden tells him that with the right card, he can turn things around. After more coaxing from Jaden, Syrus draws and summons Drillroid (1600) in Attack Mode. He attacks but Defense Wall is destroyed instead and their LPs drop to 1200.

Para and Dox say that despite their efforts, Gate Guardian still stands but Jaden tells them that Syrus isn't done and Syrus activates Shield Crush, allowing him to destroy any Defense Position monster, like Gate Guardian! Everyone is shocked and start cheering except for the Paradox Brothers. Syrus sets a card and ends his turn. Para draws and activates Dark Element, which by paying half their LPs, they can summon Dark Guardian (3800) in Attack Mode. Their score drops to 3500.

Para attacks Drillroid but Jaden activates Hero Barrier, which stopped their attack since Jaden controlled an Elemental Hero monster. Jaden draws and plays Pot of Greed, giving him 2 cards. Next he activates Fusion Gate, allowing him to summon Fusion Monsters without Polymerization and chooses Avian, Bubbleman, (which have been modified for US as shown at 12:59 into the episode) and Sparkman.

He summons Elemental Hero Tempest (2800) in Attack Mode. Then, he activates Skyscraper, giving his monster 1000 ATK since its weaker than Dark Guardian. (The real card only gives 1000 ATK when the Elemental Hero monster attacks.) Tempest's ATK rises to 3800 and he attacks, Syrus sends his face down card to the Graveyard and neither monster is destroyed. Jaden says Syrus will beat Dark Guardian next turn.

"If he has a next turn" Dox says and draws. He activates One-on-One Fight, which forces the strongest monsters on the field to attack one another. "What's the point of attacking?" Syrus asks. Dox has his reasons, which Alexis says are sneaky ones since Jaden has to keep sacrificing cards to keep Tempest on the field during battle. Jaden has no choice, he discards Skyscraper and Tempest's ATK drops to 2800. Tempest has been given a complete modification for US at 15:32 into the episode (even though it's hard to see).

Dox says they may have saved their monster, but that does not mean they've saved their LPs as Jaden and Syrus' score drops to 200. He ends his turn. This is it, all Syrus has to do is play the right card! Syrus remembers what Zane had said about playing a card versus using it. Syrus draws and tributes Drillroid for UFOroid (1200) in Attack Mode. Next he uses Power Bond to summon UFOroid Fighter, whose ATK equals the combined ATK of his Fusion Material monsters, which is 4000.

Dox and Para say that it doesn't matter for Dark Guardian can't be destroyed in battle. Syrus says that that doesn't matter for Power Bond doubles UFOroid Fighter's ATK to 8000. Syrus attacks, not destroying DG but wiping out Para and Dox's LPs. After some celebrating, Sheppard asks Jaden to write a 5-page report on what he's learned. "Talk about a bummer," Jaden responds. Sheppard ups the report to 10 pages and single spaced. Banner assures Sheppard that  he will make sure Jaden gets it done. At least he's here to stay! Everyone cheers.
