At the duel, Obelisk has 500 ATK, Slifer has 2000 and Ra has 3000 as Atem and Kaiba are ready to see Yugi's plan. Yugi begins with Magnet Reverse, letting him bring back a Rock or Machine-Type monster destroyed this turn from his Graveyard and chooses Valkryion the Magna Warrior (3850) in Defense Mode. Due to Slifer's effect, it's forced to drain 2000 DEF from Valkyrion but Magnet Force moves the target to Obelisk, destroying it. Next, Yugi tributes Valkyrion for Alpha the Magnet Warrior (1700), Beta the Magnet Warrior (1600) and Gamma the Magnet Warrior (1800) in Defense Mode, triggering Slifer's effect again, which is reflected back on itself and Ra, destroying them.

Solomon and Bakura do a Ring Around the Rosie dance of sorts in celebration but isn't meant to offend Atem.

Yugi learned what Atem had taught him and explains how he defeated the God Cards but it doesn't mean he's won yet so Atem draws and uses Polymerization to discard Gazelle and Berfomet for Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast (2100) in Attack Mode. His attack destroys Yugi's Alpha and Mokuba and the others are amazed at Atem's comeback but Kaiba now admits he was wrong and that Yugi was the King of Games. Yugi draws and tributes his monsters for Buster Blader (2600) in Attack Mode and takes out Chimera with it, leaving Atem down to 3500 LPs. However, this activates Chimera's effect to let Atem bring back Berfomet (1800) in Defense Mode. Atem draws and tributes Berfomet for Beast of Gilfer (Archfiend of Gilfer in the CG) (2500) in Defense Mode, then sets 1 card to end his turn.

Yugi draws and sets 1 card before taking out BoG with Buster Blader, activating BoG's effect to drain BB of 500 ATK, leaving it down to 2100. Atem draws and sets 1 card before activating Awakening from Beyond to let Yugi draw 2 cards and let himself return a monster in his Graveyard to his hand but Yugi can't figure out which monster Atem would've brought back as The Tricky is not only too weak but forces Atem to discard 1 card to Summon it (only for Special Summoning it by its effect in the CG). Yugi won't get it right as it's a card he didn't know Atem had and he plays it, Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight (2300) in Attack Mode, explaining that it can be Summoned without Tributes if the only card in his hand.

Furthermore, Atem knew they'd get to this point, which is why the monster was discarded in the first place, adding that he needed more, even with the God Cards in his deck. Now the true test can begin and Atem attacks Buster Blader with Swift Gaia, destroying it and leaving Yugi down to 2200 LPs. Yugi is ready with Soul Rope to pay 1000 Life Points and Special Summon Witch of the Black Forest (1200) in Defense Mode, bringing his score down to 1200. Just as Solomon figures, Yugi tributes WotBF for Summoned Skull (2500) in Attack Mode, triggering WotBF's effect to let Yugi pick up a monster from his deck to his hand (more specifically with 1500 or less DEF) and chooses Marshmallon. His attack destroys Swift Gaia and leaves Atem down to 3300 LPs and realizing how tough this duel really is. His draw yields his exact prediction, Big Shield Gardna, which he plays (2600) in Defense Mode.

Yugi draws and uses Pot of Greed before Special Summoning Watapon (300) by its effect in Defense Mode, then tributes it for Curse of Dragon (2000) in Attack Mode. (At 16:22 into the episode, you can see why I made Big Shield Gardna's name be orange as it is made an Effect Monster.) Yugi's attack with SS doesn't destroy BSG and leaves his score down to 1100 but BSG is now moved to Attack Mode by its effect, letting Yugi destroy it with his CoD's attack, leaving Atem down to 1400 LPs. Joey's words remind Tea` of why she doesn't want to see Atem go but what Joey says after that, keeps her watching. Atem draws and uses Dark Magic Curtain to pay half his LPs and bring out Dark Magician (2500) in Attack Mode, bringing his score down to 700. Furthermore, he equips it with his face down Book of Secret Arts, raising its ATK and DEF by 300, putting its ATK up to 2800.

His attack with DM destroys Yugi's SS and leaves Yugi down to 800 LPs. Dark Magician is Atem's strongest monster left and if Yugi wants to win, he'll have to destroy his most trusted monster! (At 20:45, they've gone with "To be concluded" instead of "To be continued, which would indicate the end of the series but not necessarily because the duel could also be ready to end.)
